Whoops... Backpacks aren't showing up in the search tab of the creative inventory in 1.12.
This will be fixed in version 3.2.1.
You can find backpacks on the misc tab of the creative inventory or craft one using the recipe.
Quantum backpacks act like remote controls for the real backpack stored inside their quantum chest.
Hi, I'm playing Minecraft 1.12 with your mod and about 97 others in a personal survival game. Not a modpack, just mods I've added for my enjoyment. I keep crashing to desktop. The crash report says it's backpacks that is the problem. here is the crash report.

Good day! I want to present you a translation of your modification into the Russian Language! I think it is very useful for Russian-speaking players and I hope that it will be added to the modification directly. https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B-BGy6EPq1-uU0N0SU9XdTJKTEk
does the 3.2.1 version still have the recipe altering capabilities ? i use it usually to fix broken recipies but i couldn't get shift +R of ctrl+R to do anything and i am OP'ed

The recipe editor has been removed in the 1.12 versions as it isn't compatible with the new JSON-based recipe system.
Apparently Minecraft will add custom recipes (as JSON files) in 1.13.

well that sucks but good to know but really 1.13 >.<
I've been using the Dynamic Recipe feature of this mod extensively in my 1.8.9 modpack and am very pleased with it. I have not so far been able to use it to disable recipes, though. The .drd file that comes with the mod suggests this is possible. I'm trying to disable the spawn egg recipes from alchemycraft 2 (specifically the creeper spawn egg recipe). I've tried each of the following with no luck. What am I doing wrong?
Also some of the config files suggest there may also be a way to use the Dynamic Recipes functionality to add additional fuel items, but I can't find any documentation on this? Can it be done? And if so, how?

To disable an existing recipe the recipe definition needs to be a perfect match, so rather than trying to guess the exact definition you should use the in-game recipe editor (CTRL+R from a full backpack interface, more detail can be found near the end of the screenshots). The recipe editor saves its changes into saves\[world]\overridden.drd but you can copy those changes into the .drd file for your modpack.
If a recipe doesn't appear in the recipe editor then it's a custom recipe type that Dynamic Recipes doesn't understand.
Dynamic Recipes allows you to add and remove furnace/smelting recipes, but it doesn't let you to change what items can be used as fuel.
Any chance we could get a toggle button for the 'Collect' action.
I love this mode but sometimes I just want to collect straight to my inventory.
Would be nice if I could just 'turn the backpack off' for awhile.
Hope that makes sense.
You can pause auto-collect for a backpack by opening the backpack and pressing the 'pause' key on your keyboard. Since this isn't documented anywhere (and you might want to rebind it) I've made it into a keybinding in version 3.3.
... have the inventory tweaks integration for fast moving of contents.
... have the "load from inventory" function not strip my armor and put it into the backback.
The last one seems to be an issue.
Data: MC 1.12, Forge 14.21.1.2443, Backpacks! 3.2.1, Gamemode SSP
Edit: "load from invetory" does not only take my armor, but also the player's inventory (excluding the hotbar).
I feel like when loading from inventory then only the targeted chest contents should be moved and nothing else.
Thanks for the good work.
Best Backpacks mod ever.
I've released version 3.3 which excludes armor slots from 'load from inventory' and prevents 'load from inventory' from triggering when you 'load from chest'.
As for Inventory Tweaks, you'll need to be more specific about what feature of Inventory Tweaks you're referring to, as far as I can tell its 'tweaks' are working (its sorting is another story).
Thank you very much for changing the behaviour with the fast load. Now I do not have to gear up again after each loading.
Inventory Tweaks: As far as I can tell until yesterday it feeled as if there was nothing. What I wanted to do in example:
Extract all redstone dusts from the backpack to my redstone crate. To do this I click on a pile of redstone while holding down Shift + Ctrl. All the redstone is transferred in one click. By holding down the space key and clicking on a pile the whole inventory gets moved. This simply did not work at all until yesterday. I had to extract every pile one by one. To get this done automatically I put an xnet connector on the ground which extracts stack-wise and leave the backpack alone.
I really love this feature of the mod: You put the backpack on a hopper (or some inventory extracting mod pipe) and it gets emptied.
Weird! Inventory Tweaks works now - partially. When doing either the space key (full inv) or the shift+ctrl (same items) sometimes the targeted items do not move always into the target inv but get moved inside the backpack. As if the other inventory was integrated into the backpack. When following the items and doing it again they finally become moved outside the backpack and find the correct inventory.
But before you investigate further in that matter I must admit that yesterday I played with the config file to see what happens with the size when changing the height and the width. So now there is a backpack with 13 cols and 10 rows and another one: a giant pack with 25 cols and 10 rows. The new size only effects freshly generated backpacks after restarting the game. Now this is something where I was pleased again: The size of the backpacks is not stored in the config, but in the backpacks itself - as it should be. The old packs with 9 cols by 8 rows still work and did not get messed up. The reported behaviour of moving items inside the backpack instead of moving them out concerns the giant backpack mainly.
At the moment I'm very pleased with Backpacks!.
There's no game breaking bug and the Inventory Tweaks keys I want do work mostly.
Looks like the 1x are important here. Or maybe the :0 after the gunpowder. I don't know if they are important everywhere or not. The number of recipes I intend to disable or modify it would be good if I could figure out how to do so in the files directly without using the editor, hopefully I will. As many features as the editor has (kudos to you), sifting through 5000 recipes with it is a bit of a chore.
shows up as producing an unknown item with ID unlogicii:wa
I suspect it is something to do with using x as a special character to indicate multiples of an item.
Do you know of a way around this?
Try this, if it fixes the problem let me know and I'll upload the fixes to curseforge.
As for recipe disabling, it must match how Dynamic Recipes would represent the recipe. As far as I can tell it will always include the metadata, the output will only include an NBT tag if it's got one and the count is always specified for shapeless recipe ingredients, never specified for shaped recipe ingredients and only specified for output items when the count is greater than 1.
If it would help I could make a version that dumps all the recipes to a drd file, then you could search through that to find the recipes you're wanting to disable.
I've updated Minecraft to 1.12.1. The backpacks mod seems not to load. It does not appear in the modlist and the recipes are not registered. But the jar file in the mods folder is "in use" and cannot be deleted while the game runs.

Nothing to do with my mod. The crash comes from net.mcft.copy.backpacks which appears to be part of the "Wearable Backpacks" mod, try submitting the bug report to them.
Good day! I want to present you a translation of your modification into the Russian Language! I think it is very useful for Russian-speaking players and I hope that it will be added to the modification directly. https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B-BGy6EPq1-uU0N0SU9XdTJKTEk
Ahh gotcha, sorry about that. I thought I had removed that mod earlier when I added yours.
does the 3.2.1 version still have the recipe altering capabilities ? i use it usually to fix broken recipies but i couldn't get shift +R of ctrl+R to do anything and i am OP'ed
Thanks, I'll try to include it next time I update my mods.
The recipe editor has been removed in the 1.12 versions as it isn't compatible with the new JSON-based recipe system.
Apparently Minecraft will add custom recipes (as JSON files) in 1.13.
well that sucks but good to know but really 1.13 >.<
Hello!
!minecraft:spawn_egg:50
! minecraft:spawn_egg:50
!minecraft:gunpowder + minecraft:spawn_egg:0 > minecraft:spawn_egg:50
! minecraft:gunpowder + minecraft:spawn_egg:0 > minecraft:spawn_egg:50
!minecraft:gunpowder + minecraft:spawn_egg:0 > minecraft:spawn_egg:50 | 1200
! minecraft:gunpowder + minecraft:spawn_egg:0 > minecraft:spawn_egg:50 | 1200
!minecraft:gunpowder + minecraft:spawn_egg:0 > minecraft:spawn_egg:50 | 12000000
! minecraft:gunpowder + minecraft:spawn_egg:0 > minecraft:spawn_egg:50 | 12000000
I would like to ...
... have the inventory tweaks integration for fast moving of contents.
... have the "load from inventory" function not strip my armor and put it into the backback.
You can pause auto-collect for a backpack by opening the backpack and pressing the 'pause' key on your keyboard. Since this isn't documented anywhere (and you might want to rebind it) I've made it into a keybinding in version 3.3.
Thanks! Seems to work! Here's what the recipe editor spit out for that specific recipe:
!1xminecraft:gunpowder:0 + 1xminecraft:spawn_egg:1 > minecraft:spawn_egg:50
Looks like the 1x are important here. Or maybe the :0 after the gunpowder. I don't know if they are important everywhere or not. The number of recipes I intend to disable or modify it would be good if I could figure out how to do so in the files directly without using the editor, hopefully I will. As many features as the editor has (kudos to you), sifting through 5000 recipes with it is a bit of a chore.
Now I am having trouble specifying items with x in the name specificlly wax from UnlogicII. The following recipe:
biomesoplenty:planks_0:3 + ic2:dust:3 > 8xunlogicii:wax:0 | 111121111
shows up as producing an unknown item with ID unlogicii:wa
Hell yeah, this mod is getting popular... nice!
I've updated Minecraft to 1.12.1. The backpacks mod seems not to load. It does not appear in the modlist and the recipes are not registered. But the jar file in the mods folder is "in use" and cannot be deleted while the game runs.
