This is part of the reason I removed TE.
Also, it'd be cool as a crafting ingredient... Maybe "crafted" using something like the filling station to inject the lube into dry housings?
A whole lot of things. Is your solenoid spinning? It is placed correctly?
First of all, I'm pretty sure you mean the FUSION reactor. I know, they're similar words, but it makes a big difference. Anyway, is the solenoid magnet placed and formed correctly in the exact center of the ring of toroid magnets, and is it spinning? Also, universal question for any bugs or problems: are you using the latest version of the mods (V20e)?
Also, Reika, since the toroids are coded to be "aware" of the solenoid, how hard would it be to add some more code to make them rotate automatically? Again, I wouldn't know, so I'm just suggesting something and asking about it.
Actually, I had another idea just now - what would it take to add some form of "guide block" to help build the fusion reactor properly? I'm thinking of something similar to the OpenBlocks "building guide" block.

maybe require a "bearing" block on each end of the turbine. might be cool to have to support the turbine. redoing the multiblock would be more work than just changing a recipe. but it would give you a place to put the lubricant in, unless of course you go with a permanently lubed one
I know you said you can't replicate the issue, so I don't know if there's any help you can really offer, but I noticed something this time that I thought I'd post. I have two steam engines powering a woodcutter that works as it's supposed to. I wanted to add a flywheel in, so I broke the woodcutter and put a Stone flywheel in its place. The flywheel starts spinning up, no errors, all is good. Then I place the woodcutter on the other side of the flywheel and the flywheel keeps spinning while spamming a series of errors. If I break the woodcutter and place it again, the error changes to just one line over and over, the one I posted the other day with nullpointerexception.
http://pastebin.com/GhtDkd1T
So again, the above is what the console looks like if I connect a woodcutter to the working stone flywheel and breaking it and placing it again causes JUST the nullpointerexception line to spam over and over. The woodcutter I should note, works actually. I should also note that while I'm focusing on this particular setup right now because it's the one I'm working with, I've been able to get it to happen with multiple types of flywheels connected to multiple setups. Simple ones don't seem to cause issues..if I hook up, for example, a performance engine to a clutch to a flywheel to an electricraft generator, it powers the generator which charges a battery with no problems. But hooking up rotarycraft machines, dynanometers, gearboxes and the like all cause this issue.
Like I said, I know you said you couldn't replicate it and that being the case, not much you can do about it...but thought I'd post this latest bit of info and see if it helps at all to diagnose the issue.
Using v20e, by the way.
EDIT:
Using the woodcutter setup above with an induction generator connected directly to an induction motor works without any problems. An slightly more expensive workaround for the time being. Not sure if any of this information is helping, but here's hoping.
What the range on the first two tiers of meteor defense guns? I'm having a hard time deciding if I need to upgrade my gun to protect my rather small base at the moment. I've search both on this forum and Reika's website with no luck, finding only range data for the top tier gun of up to 112 blocks.
I feel like I'm missing something obvious...
The direction it thinks it is facing is null. That should never happen.
You have some mod that is screwing up the base code.
Nether quartz also requires silk touch.
EDIT: and that's just vanilla&RC. If you have TiCon, getting silk touch is easy enough to almost be a joke.
For the Now:
Hm. Well since you can't reproduce it and nobody else is reporting it, conflict with another mod? It seems odd another mod could mess with it like that but then I cant think of another reason that its only on my side.
Lets say for instance you could put quartz in the extractor.
1 - Quartz block - can be mined with fortune 3
2 - Quartz crystals - placed in the extractor and you get ~5x as many in gem form.
3 - Quartz gem - can't be used in most recipes and thus it has to be converted to quartz crystal at a 1:1 ratio.
4 - goto 2
in other words one quartz crystal would be infinite quartz.
I don't think the price is to steep now. It does not take long to get bedrock tools even with the increased power costs 4 hydro kinetics is only ~300 iron ingots (and a few more for the grinder and bedrock breaker) that is a trivial amount and as mentioned already if you also have Tinkerer's construct installed silk touch becomes laughable.
Edit: less iron ingots because the blast furnace has bonuses.
But they're far more common than redstone ore, they can spawn at any layer, and they are easier to find simply because the nether has much more surface area (on average) than a cave system.
I made my own shader pack, by the way.
I trimmed since it just keeps repeating.

Of course there are other mods to help you get silktouch, TiC, burning nether redstone ores, etc.
I've been using Mekanism combiner, it takes 16 redstones, and cobblestone to make a redstone ore, then processing it trough the extractor.
Burning the redstone flakes, and back to the combiner.
It takes a while, and a lot of ethanol fuel :), plus my ratio of tungsten to redstone ores is about 1 flake for each 15 ores. But that's fine.
Still need to find a way to heat up the furnace hot enough to burn the tungsten flakes.
Unrelated, is the shaft power bus controller supposed to constantly use the lubricant, even when is not attached to anything?
Sweet Thanks! Straight from the source.
This is SSP on v20e and it doesn't appear straight away. Leave it awhile and then it does it.
My power bus controller does not use lube when turned off. I have a clutch on mine and it is turned off and not using lube.
Edit: correction it is using a tiny amount still.
from testing it takes somewhere around 18 to 20MW to get it hot enough for tungsten. I have it hooked to a tier 5 magnetostatic engine set to 33MW. which is kind of a waste.
