Ah, so with regular BC that would be all right? Also, maybe it's also a good idea to make fuel vats combustable. :3 For example, if temperature is too high it starts to burn and consume fuel from the vat. Maybe that's too much, though.
Reservoirs have no temperature, and if I start coding them to be aware of their surroundings, large vats will get quite laggy.
And can you please check the woodcutter again? I tested that in 1.5.2, too and it didn't cut down the tree, too. It was right in front of the cutter and cutter left two wooden blocks. Power - Gasoline engine with no gearboxes.
It still works for me. Try setting it to "instant cut" in the config.

They certainly look good I like the Multiblock structure, quite different from other mods. Can they extend on the y axis as well?
Small concern:
Buildcraft tanks only store 16 Buckets in one block. -> 64 tanks only hold 1024 buckets
Railcraft Iron Tanks as well (counting the air inside)-> As Buildcraft tanks, -> 63 = 1008 buckets (Closest possible match)
Railcraft Steel tanks can store 32 per block(also counting the air inside). -> 63 = 2016 buckets (Closest possible match)
OpenBlock tanks default to 16 buckets as well. -> As Buildcraft tanks, -> 64 = 1024 buckets
So the best option from other mods only holds roughly half as much as your reservoir.
Now of course if the reservoir is not stackable there is a downside of more space needed on the x-z-plane. As i do not know if their recipe has changed i can not yet comment on the cost and can't compare that either.
I admit that Buildcraft tanks are not a good example as they are really cheap(8 glass) compared to the other tanks.
The amount of water a decent sized Railcraft or OpenBlock tank can hold is enough for RotaryCraft as well from my experience. Is there any reason you set it to 64 buckets and not 32 or 16? Because in my opinion 64 is too much.
Because of the lack of vertical extensibility. Increased capacity comes at the cost of increased space requirements.
Ah, OK, it's not very useful idea anyways.
I can set that to instant cut, but does it work for you normally or you are using instant cut, too? Maybe I need a certain kind of tree?
Different trees will be harvested more efficiently, yes, but instant is always 100% efficient. For that reason, I use it in survival, but I test both when developing.

Although i think i understand what you mean, i hope you do also realize that for example the best competitor, a Railcraft Steel Tank, which uses nearly the same amount of blocks (3x3x7 = 63, including air) to build takes up the same space (1 block less though) and only offers half the storage. If i were to build a tank the size of your 4096 tank, i'd have to use a tank with the dimension of 5x5x5 (offers 4000 buckets of storage). That would use 125 blocks (including the air) which is almos double the amount of the reservoir. It's only pro is that it can be build vertically but it still takes more space.
This leaves me a bit puzzled as the reservoir clearly wins even if it is flat, as a 8x8x1 is not that much bigger than a 5x5x5 structure ingame seen on the x-z-plane
PS:
Having that said I feel like a bad person always posting here with small concerns. I hope it doesn't mind you too much and if it does tell me so i can try and change my way of saying things.
PPS:
I like that one can walk in those reservoirs. Gives them a nice touch
Vertical space is much cheaper, as you are likely to be able to fit it anyway. With horizontal space, however, you have to work to accommodate it.

I question, the RotaryCraft, its as difficulty as Builcraft, IndustrialCraft, etc? Or is easier/harder?
Neither. It takes lots of time, resources, and knowledge to get going, but you will ultimately be capable of things far more powerful than most other mods.
One little niggily thing that I've been wondering about for a while: would it be possible to make it so that DyeTrees cannot be used to produce bone meal, laps lazuli, cocoa beans, or ink sacs? While I like the idea of dyes being easily farmable, I'd prefer that those items don't become significantly easier; they are more then just dyes, especially with other mods adding more meaning to them. Either a config option to disable those specific colours, or, more work but better IMHO, create items that have the same ore dictionary tags as the vanilla ores. ExtraBees, for example, uses this method for it's dye-producing bees. (There are also bees that produce the vanilla items, but those are more expensive.)
I am not going to change this. Those are the four most useful - arguably the only really useful - colors. Additionally, I am not providing configs because it will gives the ability for servers to force their balance opinions on everyone.

Different trees will be harvested more efficiently, yes, but instant is always 100% efficient. For that reason, I use it in survival, but I test both when developing.
Tested that with instaharvest and it works, but very slow with gasoline engine and seems to require infinity to be an autofarm. Without instant harvest well, I just don't know why it doesn't work for me. I won't care if some wood would be lost, but it just stops working and sits there doing nothing.
TBH, at this point I'd go for MFR farm instead if I have it installed...
A realistic suggesttion:
I already asked about spin-up/down for devices, but this is a bit different
Can you make both ICE piston engines require to be kickstarted with an AC engine?
Like... you supply fuel, but it does nothing, then you turn on an AC engine atached to it for 5 seconds and it starts working (of course with an appropriate sound )
Gas turbine is started by a stream of air (fan). Requires a fan in front of it a couple blocks away running at a certain speed (Not sure what speed should it be) for like... 20 seconds.
Microturbine... TBH I don't know what is it designed after, so IDK if it needs a special starter. I know that airliner engines do not start themselves and require a stream of air or something like that.
A practical suggestion:
Allow shaft junction outputs/inputs to be at the top or bottom.
An aesthetical suggestion:
Allow shafts to be placed upside-down. There's no practical need for that, but if you align them along the ceiling, that might look better.
A global suggestion:
Jet fuel/devices seems to be a good "second idea" of your mod. First idea of course is the shaft power but jet fuel is somewhat unique, too. For now there're only two engines and one furnace using it, maybe it's a good idea to make more jet stuff? :3

No, as that makes them far too complex and will be the cause of many, many "bug" reports.

I will make them invert their models if placed on the underside of a block. This is easy.

With a gas engine and no gearbox, it takes 1 second per block. And no, infinity is not required for auto farming unless you are trying to farm trees where saplings are rare (eg Silverwood or Timewood).

But what?
Maybe what PonyKuu suggested about a turbine that needs to be kickstarted, but a new one: It is slightly more efficient than the currently best turtbine (same production, but less fuel cost) but needs to be started with something else than redstone.
Also, there could be some real kind of Jet (Not sure about that working well).
Other suggestion: A way to distill Buildcraft Oil to Buildcraft fuel and Jet fuel, and maybe also some kind of wax and fuel oil, so actual distillation in a distillation tower.

No, as that makes them far too complex and will be the cause of many, many "bug" reports.
While I understand that, Reika... Just don't go too far with that approach. You chose the realistic power system and it's already hard for some people and if you just don't want to confuse them, the "realistic" idea won't work itself. And unlike that integer division thing, this is much easier to explain.
??
AFAIK you cannot set the shaft junction to output power to top or bottom like bevel gears can. That's what I'm asking for.
I will make them invert their models if placed on the underside of a block. This is easy.
Nice! Thank you!
But what?
Umm... That's a good question actually
I searched for usage of jet engines and that's power generation and aircraft propulsion, so, yeah, that's really not much...
Well, maybe some... jet aircraft? Or a jet-powered minecart (or maybe turbojet locomotive or gas turbine one) that works with RailCraft. However, I think locomotives and rails are not very useful since every modpack adds fasttravel methods like Mystcraft or Dimensional Doors. Jet furnace is what you already made, but maybe make it a little bit more useful so it can smelt other stuff, too? (I want to eat some bread cooked on a thousand-degree jet)

I tried eucalipt actually... Don't know much about it.
Well, it seems like gas engine is a low-tier engine even though it doesn't feel like that

I'd love to see an actually FAST locomotive, and with a giant jet engine on it it would look so cool

It is difficult to both code and use, and serves little function other than a balance tool. While I like the idea of spin-up, requiring other machines is going too far.

This is intentional, as it would make the number of possible orientation states 6 times larger (96 states). This is patently ridiculous, as it would take forever to get the desired one with the screwdriver, and the GUI is already taken for ratio control.

Jet fuel is (unsurprisingly) toxic, so a jet engine cannot be used to cook anything. Plus, with air velocities often exceeding 800kph in and out, and 100 000rpm spinning blades, whatever came out would not resemble food.
I have toyed with the idea of a jet aircraft, though, as another addon mod. It would require 2 Gas Turbines (as engines), and would be able to carry at least 2 passengers and have a cargo bay with at least 6 double chests of storage.
The flight physics would be quite difficult to code, though.

Balance and realism tool - for ICE at least. But maybe that would be too inconvenient, yep.

Heh. I didn't know that kerosene is very toxic, but anyways, cooking food is a stupid idea, yes, but maybe you can add more recipes to that since for now it's not very useful?

However, flight physics in minecraft may be hard, yep... There's flan's mod but a long time ago when I tested that it was... not very good.
No, as this screws the balance up completely.
Aww... But OK.
That already exists. BC Refinery and my Fuel Enhancer.
I think he means that diesel, gasoline and kerosene are the different fractions of the oil anyways and you get all of them by distillating the oil...
Diesel is BC fuel, gasoline is... gasoline and kerosene is jet fuel

After working with F/A-18 Super Hornets for 4 years, I believe it is safe to say that jet fuel causes a lot of nausea if exposed too much to the fumes and if you get doused on it (as I many times were while getting fuel samples) It irritates your sin in such a way that you look like a lizard shedding skin lol, and that was just JP-5 grade fuel.
Umm... Did I get it right that you were working with jet fighters? D:
Wow. Just wow.
Yeah, I was enlisted in the navy right after high school so after seeing the jet physics firsthand, I am happy with the way Reika coded his jet engines (gotta be careful around the intake) lol

No.
One, jet fuel is a highly complex mix of chemicals even before you consider the additives like 2,6 ditertiary-butyl-4-methyl-phenol and Diethylene Glycol Monomethyl Ether (autoignition suppression and anti-icing, respectively, and those are only two of dozens).
Two, I take the stance that BC fuel is closer to gasoline, both in physical properties (color, density, et cetera) and in terms of energy output (and my RC-BC conversions are based on that assumption).
Heh. I didn't know that kerosene is very toxic, but anyways, cooking food is a stupid idea, yes, but maybe you can add more recipes to that since for now it's not very useful?

Also, regarding toxicity, I will let the MSDS do the talking:
