I remember playing RotaryCraft 6 years ago. I would totally run it again if it were for anything like 1.12 or after. It looks like you're still supporting the versions for 1.6.4 and 1.7, but is there a reason it was never updated? I kind of miss RotaryCraft, but can't find it in my heart to give up all my 1.12.2 mods to run it.
Or does it just work in 1.12.2? Maybe I'm crying all these tears for nothing. Cool mods either way!
RotaryCraft, and all of Reika's mods, are still on 1.7.10. There's some good Reddit threads as to why he hasn't updated, but the gist is "huge effort for what he sees as little reward".

Absolutely love the mod Chromaticraft, and I've had a lot of fun exploring it so far. I've just recently finished my dimension portal, and entered the dimension, which is amazing. Love the music, love the biome design, really love the skybox.
However, I've not yet been able to figure out how to return to the overworld. Is it possible to get a hint?
Things I have tried:
(1) falling down the large glowing colored void rifts
(2) Digging underneath the void rifts, finding pools of Lifewater
(3) Standing, jumping, or falling into Lifewater.
(3) Digging around and under the Lifewater pools, down to bedrock (no gaps found in bedrock)
(4) Digging down underneath the patterns of glowing cracks in the grass, down to bedrock
(5) Poking around the little one-chest structures (however I have not yet figured out how to open the chests)
(6) Flying up really high and then falling into void rift
(7) Hitting Lifewater with my manipulator
(8) Hitting bedrock with my manipulator
(9) Found Lumen Fog down by bedrock level, haven't figured out how to interact with it (swords, pick and manipulator didn't do anything)
From the in-game text, I feel like the answer should be down around bedrock somewhere, but I haven't been able to find it yet.
2) Requiring the Techguns Chemical Laboratory to craft the Heat Ray Core, and using it as a Fabricator material in the Reaction Chamber Heat Ray Focus recipe (this recipe also uses Blast Glass).
I've given this pack to friends of varying Minecraft playtime and one thing I noticed was people crafting the RoC Blast Furnace first because of the block sharing the same name as the multiblock structure from IE. I've added a tooltip and the new recipe has cleared that up. I also like it personally for tech mods to start later.
Villagers laughable attempt at building a casting temple with a hidden chest underneath
still a thing in Chromaticraft's progression?
How common is it? I've visited like 10+ villages already (in overworld) on my new playthrough, haven't found a single one. The only thing that's new mod wise is newer Chromaticraft version and I added Witchery mod which does mess with Villages so it may or may not be the problem. It doesn't prevent Tinkers Construct structures from spawning though.
OK then does anybody play with Chromaticraft and Witchery in the same pack? Can anybody confirm these two aren't incompatible when it comes to Village structures?

They should work fine.

I am the developer of many mods, most famously RotaryCraft and ChromatiCraft.
Feel free to support me and my mods via PayPal or Patreon
SerAaron, That first one is likely unnecessary. Flakes should already be smeltable in the TiC smeltery
Also, 1 & 2 already seem to be working. #3, however, has a special place in the config. You want to use that, not MineTweaker/
Yeah I just wanted to use OreDict for the flakes but I could just add them separately for #1
They are working in the screenshots because single player, I only discovered this behaviour from Minetweaker recently when connecting to a friend for SMP testing. Upon connecting, Minetweaker comments out the recipes that use the Heat Ray Core.
For #3 do you mean: " S:"Alternate Blast Furnace Materials" < "? How do I use this?
Dammit its hard to believe I am that unlucky, it used to be very easy to find them Is it possible that they dont even spawn before you have a certain level of progression? Or maybe I am overthinking this and need to just keep looking.
I kind of miss RotaryCraft, but can't find it in my heart to give up all my 1.12.2 mods to run it.
You know man for me its the other way around. Every time I say "enough with the ancient versions lets see whats new" and try out a 1.12 pack I get extremely disappointed and go back to 1.7.10 And it's not just Reika's mods although they definitely play a huge part in this. Most of the newer mods are simply not fun, not imaginative enough for my taste, and/or not useful enough. Add to this the fact that all the packs I played with messed with recipes for the sake of their silly "balance", and never update mods fast enough leaving gamebreaking bugs for months, and also add the fact that public servers oftentimes just ban items they deem prone to abuse (like AE2 storage bus), and 1.12 modpacks become close to unplayble for me. There are like three new mods I wish were ported to 1.7.10 - Abyssal craft, Psi and Nutrition and thats it. I also wish I had some of the new machines from the Ender IO and Immerssive Engineering but generally, when it comes to most of the mods from Thermal Expansion to Thaumcraft I even like their 1.7.10 versions much better. Anyway I highly recommend you trying out Reikas mods now, they went a long way since you last played them. Just mentally prepare that afterwards "all your 1.12.2 mods" may not look so fun anymore...
You're not going to be able to get around the commenting-out easily. Reika's got that automatically run if it thinks you're trying to make recipes for RoC items that you shouldn't. For #3 I have no clue, but that is the right config, as I've never used it, I simply know what it does.

Well it seems way too liberal because Heat Ray Cores arent even really a gating item. I can understand being anal about Tungsten and whatnot.
- should do it. (I may have misremembered some detail but I'm pretty sure that worked for me)

I'm in a similar situation, but there's one more thing I really miss from newer modded versions - client performance. Looking at all my fusion reactor's turbines spinning is quite satisfying, but playing at a smooth 60 FPS instead of 10-20 is also quite the attractive prospect... (Okay, it's only really turbines that butcher FPS that hard, but playing in any built-up area in a 1.7.10 modpack generally feels less smooth.)
A couple months ago I would've also cited JEI's vast superiority to NEI, but now that the GTNH folks have backported most of the important stuff, I suppose that's no longer really an issue...

Go down, further than would normally be possible. There will be a way to do so.

Is this where I come to ask about permitting minetweaker edits? I have some changes I want to be able to do.
What do you want to be able to do? Reika has said before that some thing may never be possible.

Hi, it's pretty tame stuff really, will give screenshots + info
1) Adding the two Silver flakes to the OreDict for melting/smelting.

So I did this and it crashed, indexarray out of bound exception w/e
Is it written as <STEEL> or perhaps OreDict:ingotSteel?
Anything here should be fine to implement.

From the sound of it, it is mistakenly identifying a recipe using the heat ray core as adding a recipe.
However, the heat ray core is not on that list either way, and should not be tripping any detectors.Never mind, it seems all the crafting parts are. That does not sound intentional.
Even with the brackets? The config as this:
