I think you'd have to present a convincing argument that the machine you want to use for this can handle 150-million-K-hot plasma. The answer to the question which kind of machine this could be is pretty simple IMO: none that hasn't been explicitly built with this kind of temperature in mind.
you have a valid point, but machines that would be built to house plasma generally do it through magnetism, hence the aforementioned insane RF cost, of course there's also the argument of whether or not the machine could handle the kind of current required to maintain that strong of a magnetic field...
eh, I just got a kick out of the idea and wondered what Reika would think TBH
EDIT: although it might be fun to use the plasma for fun stuff in my own mod (still in concept design, don't expect it out for quite awhile) so for my next question, is there an api in rotarycraft/reactorcraft for that?
Hi Reika (or anyone else who might understand why this happens or not),
I'm trying to understand an odd crash. I have fixed it, but the circumstances are odd enough that not understanding drives me up the wall.
The main symptom was this: whenever I removed or added a mod to my mod setup (reliably only then, and reliably not when I started up the pack without having added or removed a mod since the previous startup attempt with no other crash but this one), I got this crash when I started up the pack:

AE2 Version: beta rv3-beta-6 for Forge 10.13.4.1448
EnderIO: Found the following problem(s) with your installation:
* The RF API that is being used (1.7.10R1.0.2 from <unknown>) differes from that that is reported as being loaded (1.7.10R1.0.13 from EnderIO-1.7.10-2.3.0.429_beta.jar).
It is a supported version, but that difference may lead to problems.
* An unknown AE2 API is installed (rv3 from appliedenergistics2-rv3-beta-6.jar).
Ender IO was build against API version rv2 and may or may not work with a newer version.
This may have caused the error. Try reproducing the crash WITHOUT this/these mod(s) before reporting it.
Note the lines at the bottom. While I don't understand how a problem EnderIO has with AE2 can cause the initialization of ChromatiCraft's research manager to fail, the crash report gave me something to work with. I used a minimum-mod setup with only your mods and a few convenience mods, and sure, as soon as I added EnderIO and AE2 rv3 the problem appeared, and the crash has now not reappeared in about 20 startups of the pack after I switched to AE2 rv2 and added more mods in small groups step by step.
So, the immediate problem is solved. However, I had recently played a pack with all of these mods - AE2 rv3, EnderIO in the same version, and ChromatiCraft - along with many other mods, and this problem did not appear. The only difference with regard to the mods in question was that ChromatiCraft was v18 instead of v19. Also, why does this only happen after changing my mod setup? Can anyone shed any light on this? I don't understand the odd circumstances in which this happens or not. Among other things, I'm wondering if I should even look for a way to use AE2 rv3 or if it's either impossible or not worth the effort.

Hey reika random stupid question, how do you get recipe stuff to alternate in NEI instead of causing 12+ pages of the same recipe slightly different?
knowing him, he will give no response at all or tell you that he can do nothing to help you, oh well
I know it's kind of annoying but i just deal with it ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Or I could give an answer that attempts to be informative, which you will no doubt either fail to acknowledge or invent some excuse to explain.
Hey reika random stupid question, how do you get recipe stuff to alternate in NEI instead of causing 12+ pages of the same recipe slightly different?
That is done by making one recipe display object which cycles through which items (and/or output lists, fluids, requirements, etc) it shows, usually based on some time variable (like the system time).
So, for example, if you have 200 recipes for making output items from inputs (say an ore crusher with 200 ore types, which may or may not have some overlap in outputs (eg 7 unique ores all making crushed iron ore)), you would not add 200 wrapper recipe objects to NEI, but one, which selects the input - and calculates the output - for display based on the aforementioned time variable.
I've installed two of your mods, DragonAPI (obviously) and GeoStrata. I have questions on their respective config files. Is there any documentation where functions are explained? I've been doing my own research on functions of GeoStrata to see what does what, but blindly messing with DragonAPI stuff seems not good to me.
And regarding GeoStrata options. Well, how do they even affect generation? The only radical change I've noticed is when I set "banded generation"=true and did not change heights of rock layers from 0. I've got these wide ~20 blocks in radius lens-like formations near the bedrock, made of 3-4 types of rock.
How does "density" parameter work? It seems to me that it simply controls dimensions of clusters, like LavaRock will be thicker with density=5. And density=0 does nothing, which is weird to me.
It also seems that there is no legit way to turn off generation of specific items, surface crystal spires, for example. Is that true?
Taking the advantage I want to express admiration on how you implemented crystal spires and opal - it looks incredible. Also Lava Rock - it is just pure fun, and looks awesome!
I'm trying to get started with Rotarycraft, but I've been through the whole handbook and I can't find recipes for any of the machine components besides shafts and gears. That means impellers, combustors, circuit boards and even base panels are off-limits to me. Same for Electricraft and Reactorcraft. Help!
You want a farm, you grab a hoe. You want a boat, you grab some wood. You want a fireplace, you grab A FLAMING HELL-BOULDER BECAUSE THAT'S HOW MINECRAFTERS ROLL!!!

It's worth asking, he's one of the programmers I tend to like followed and occasionally links code when I ask questions which is often a super helpful answer. I usually am here just trolling because I don't think I've ever actually had an issue with reika's stuff breaking that wasn't my fault and I feel reika needs a distraction from time to time thats neither minecraft or programming in general related
EDIT: Side note reika usually responds to me if at least with sass, which usually contains any answers I actually seek.

I may remember this wrongly, since I never tried to look up recipes in the handbook, but - IIRC, the handbook doesn't have recipes as a rule, but explains what the machines do, their power needs and the details of the power system. Look up the recipes in NEI.

So... the documentation for this mod is NEI-dependent?

a lot of the mod info is implicity told and yes in NEI so if you are starting I recommend you to watch sentinalHMC tutorials series, he shows all recipes and some basic machine configuration and what you can do with them, it may be outdated but a lot of the info he gives is still relevant
Okay...had to find NEI for 1.7 via Google because searching for it here turns up pages and pages of threads complaining that NEI crashes the authors' game. Not a good sign.

No, the component recipes I'm after are not "implicitly told", they're just plain not told. And watching through fifty ~10 minute tutorials is not an optimal solution.

NEI is a very stable mod, and so many other mods depend on it for documentation of regular crafting recipes that this is not usually considered a liability. Also, few mods have had in-game documentation of standard crafting recipes (as oppsed to recipes that use special mechanics) even before NEI became the de-facto recipe encyclopaedia for modded Minecraft.
you have a valid point, but machines that would be built to house plasma generally do it through magnetism, hence the aforementioned insane RF cost, of course there's also the argument of whether or not the machine could handle the kind of current required to maintain that strong of a magnetic field...
eh, I just got a kick out of the idea and wondered what Reika would think TBH
EDIT: although it might be fun to use the plasma for fun stuff in my own mod (still in concept design, don't expect it out for quite awhile) so for my next question, is there an api in rotarycraft/reactorcraft for that?
"This is NOT a mod bug. Do not post it or ask for support or you will look lazy or extremely foolish." Reika is this your doing?

<3 I thought that sass was my true love! TBH It's super helpful.

Here is an actual example (RC composter):
https://github.com/ReikaKalseki/RotaryCraft/blob/master/ModInterface/NEI/ComposterHandler.java#L35
Hello Reika!
Thank you in advance!
Reika, is there any plan to update Rotary and Reactor mods to 1.12.2?
I'm trying to get started with Rotarycraft, but I've been through the whole handbook and I can't find recipes for any of the machine components besides shafts and gears. That means impellers, combustors, circuit boards and even base panels are off-limits to me. Same for Electricraft and Reactorcraft. Help!
Alright thank you! <3 I appreciate the help. I think I understand, I'll likely **** it up a few times but thanks I'll get it.
I may remember this wrongly, since I never tried to look up recipes in the handbook, but - IIRC, the handbook doesn't have recipes as a rule, but explains what the machines do, their power needs and the details of the power system. Look up the recipes in NEI.

As for downloads, https://minecraft.curseforge.com/projects/notenoughitems
Not for the foreseeable future. 1.8+ introduced changes that would make updating Reika's mods too burdensome.
will there ever be another "ask me anything" with reika?
