thanks for the april fools joke, you made me waste an entire hour trying to figure out what was going wrong before i decided to come here.
what made you think that this was funny? i see that other people genuinely thought this was a bug too. you have wasted my time and the time of others.
this was incredibly aggravating because i thought i had done something wrong for it to turn out to be a joke. get a life and stop pissing people off
Yes, because it's so hard to look at a calendar and think for a moment. Other mod authors do this too. Reika is not the first, nor will he be the last to do something like this. It's a thing. Get over it.

firstly i dont own a calender and my computer dosnt show the date unless i click on the time so i genuinely didnt know it was april until i came here, and secondly today is april 2nd and i had this issue, even if i looked at the calendar for some odd reason (as i dont need a calender to live my daily life) i wouldent have thought "oh an april fools joke on april 2nd, ha ha ill just change the date"
none of my friends do april fools because none of us care about it, honestly i forget april fools is a thing every single year because i dont consider it worthwhile

While I do think all mods with real date-based events should at least have opt-out config options, there's no need to be rude and complain because you forgot April Fools was a thing, especially after it's over.
I personally don't participate in April Fools activities (And indeed tend to avoid as much as possible from the day before to the day after it), but I certainly wouldn't want to spoil others' fun, or demand that people cater to my whim just because I don't like it.

That is literally the point of April Fools. To attempt to fool people into thinking something that isn't true. Just because you don't agree with it, doesn't suddenly make those that do horrible people that need to "get a life", blah blah blah. You got fooled. Just admit it, shrug, and move on.
The 4/1 texture thing is a response to people complaining that all the animated models are lagging the game and that Reika should just go with static power cables and box-machines like everyone else. These people fail to realize that the animations are actually one of the most powerful debugging tool we have when things are going wrong in a build, and they aren't the cause of the lag anyway. IIRC, they're achieved through the same function that chests use to animate, and there's a reason you never hear people complain about chest rooms causing lag. The real culprit is people's insistence on spamming lower-tier engines everywhere, instead of just using a single higher-tier engine and splitting the power.
That said, I do wish there was a way to disable it other than editing the date on the computer. It does kinda make the mod unplayable.
So...either a visual change, or the monster gets more aggressive the more valuable stuff you have on you? Either way, I like it. I'm probably still wrong, though c:

Can I share my reactions to the "what not to say" page on your website?
1)"Can you turn off the animations? They are lagging my server/game."
Wow, the animations never lagged my client. What computer is their client running on, BBC Micro?
2)"[Item] is more powerful than anything else like it, so it's overpowered. Power creep is destroying the game."
No. The items are balanced by the progression tree that to this day ties my brain in knots
3)"I reported this bug a week ago, where's the fix?/I don't like how this mod works, give me a config option to redesign it./I want this feature, you can't say no!/The customer is always right!"
This person is a bossy boots.
4)"I really don't like the way you design/manage the mod, get someone else/You're not a good developer, give the mod to someone else/let's tell FTB/MCF/Mojang to make Reika leave/let's change the owner of RotaryCraft"
Another bossy boots. One who doesn't know what "fairness" or "being a nice person" means.
5)"Your mod belongs to the community/You can't tell us what we can and can't do, we own the mod as much as you do/If you don't do as we say then you are an idiot/Pack perms? Are you kidding? You don't even own the mod!"
Yet another bossy boots who obviously isn't intelligent enough to play RotaryCraft.
6)"You fixed an exploit I was relying on, bring it back!"
When I spot exploits, I report them and never use them. Bringing back exploits would be unrealistic and detrimental to the enjoyment from the game.
7)"Rules? For me? You have got to be kidding."
Yes, there's a such thing as rules and this person must get over it. Beside, the rules we're talking about aren't bad.
I feel very sad that you have to put up with such morons.
On a more positive note, your mods are great and you should keep going no matter how many morons pester you, just ignore them!
Not sure if this has been "reported" or asked before; couldn't find anything though.
Is it intented that you can pump liquid ethanol out of the bottom of filling stations?
I looked into NEI and found a recipe for liquification of the crystals using a rock melter. So there shouldn't be another and also an easier way to liquify it, should there?
Just curios about this ...
the rock melter needs really low energy to smelt ethanol crystals. AFAIK a simple AC engine works fine
Before the installation I was getting 220 fps (Flat world to ensure good resaults.)
After the installation it was 140-160 fps and randomly dropping.
I have 18+ mods installed and the content did not change between the 2 tests. Including multiple other API's that don't do this so... yeah what? I know you get angry easily but this might be a sign there is something wrong with the api, as in it's doing something glitchy/laggy.
PC specs
8gb ram
Intel I7 3.4GHz
Thank you for the mod and I hope to see it update in the future but currently it's to laggy to be put into a larger modpack. I hope you find this as useful information.
i Have a modpack with 250 including Chromaticraft ,Reactorcraft ,Rotarycraft and Dragonapi .And still have 60-150 Fps in the Overworld with a fully build out World.
My specs a :Intel E3-1231 v3@ 3.40Ghz
24GB ram
and a nvidia 970 msi edition
The report wasn't here to compare PC specs at all and it shows you didn't read. I compared with and without the mod and it's one of the largest drops I've seen a API do. If you want to prove me wrong then post what happened before and after the mod installation. THank yiou and hav ea nice day until then.

I'm reminded of this issue posted on Reddit about CrC. (I found it because I have the same problem. Didn't report it yet, though, because it's clearly a known - and bizarre - issue, and I have no new info to add so far. I had very similar log results to the poster.)
My point is that just because a mod causes a performance hit on some systems apparently doesn't mean that that will happen on all systems - not because of stronger or weaker hardware, but because of weird black magic that no one seems to fully understand.
Hey Reika, have you considered adding a direct Brayton cycle using hot CO2 from the HTGR? It'd make a lot more thermodynamic sense than the current option of the rankine cycles, given the high temperatures involved.

I've run into a progression wall in Chromaticraft in my current world that's lead me to 3 related questions. ...plus one more that's been bugging me for a while.
So my problem is that I'm not able to activate the Pylon Surge Protection ritual (which if I recall correctly from my previous world, what what triggers the Lumen Harnessing progression item). I have the researches for Pylon Surge Protection, Ritual Table, and Lumen Repeaters, and I've set up the repeater chain to the closest Kuro/Karmir/Kitrino pylons, but the table won't draw from them.
So, question 1: Is there any known bug in the current version that might be stopping these structures from functioning, or is there likely something else obvious I've missed?
Question 2: Are Lumen Repeaters (the low-tier, wooden ones) supposed to show distance to nearest lumen source like the Crystal Repeaters do on right-clicking with a Manipulator? 'Cause mine aren't, even when I tried putting one all the way up within zap range of a pylon.
Question 3: Is it normal that when interacting with the Ritual Table I have to scroll through all of the rituals, even though Pylon Surge Protection is the only one I have unlocked at the moment? I can even select them and the table will show that it wants to request the colors needed for that ritual.
In the attached screenshot, Lumen Harvesting (and obviously the "?" one) are the only progression flags up to that point that I have no unlocked. All above that point are done, and all below are inaccessible.
Question 4: What is the purpose of the [STRUCTURE] Fragments that drop when you destroy the controller of the worldgen treasure structures?
Question 5 (that I though of while typing this): The description of the Crystal Altars says "Not only does it glow and pulsate various colors, but it also gives off colored particles and fog, making for quite and impressive display of energy...Probably enough so that putting several of these in proximity is a bad idea." Is that a mechanics warning, or just an FPS warning?

I don't have enough information/knowledge to answer all of these, but here's what I do know.
Question 3: Yes, having to scroll through all of them is normal. Kind of annoying, but not a huge deal.
Question 4: I'm 98% sure that those currently have no purpose; I've gone through the entire progression of the mod in the latest version (v16d) and found nothing that uses them. Presumably they're intended to do something in a future update.
Not asked, but relevant: Wooden repeaters are a huge pain in the ass to do any remotely serious networking with. Here's a considerably easier way to hit that progress step, which I'll put in spoilers:
All you need to do to trigger that step is transmit lumens at all. Doesn't have to serve any purpose, doesn't even have to go through repeaters. You can just plunk down a lumen-requesting block (e.g. Relay Source) near a pylon for half a second, and that'll be enough.

I am looking for permission to include Rotarycraft into a modpack being designed for a server I am a tech staff on. I am requesting permission as per requirements for public modpack usage. The name of the pack is Ragnarok Wildstart
I agree that players will not have permission to reupload or redistribute the pack.
I agree that players may not extract your mod(s) from the pack and rehost them.
I agree to comply with the rules reguarding third party modifications.
I agree that the pack may not generate any income, directly or indirectly.
I agree that I may not nor any player or staff member of the pack's server claim credit for the creation of your mod(s).
I agree to use only official or authorized releases and not unauthorised releases such as 9minecraft.net
No external mod will be used to in any way alter the way Rotarycraft works (I personally like how its set up anyways).
Wait it out.
