Basic MONSTER spawn type is indeed hindered by magnum torches, not too sure about FLY since I rarely see rocs in my testing site with the magnum torch. WATER and LAVA/FIRE may be hindered too, so magnum torch should still work.
If you're still having doubts, make everything spawns like a normal mob with MONSTER in the configs.
Ah! That looks like a good option. Would you mind pointing me to where in the configs I set that? Lycanite's has a lot of configs...
There a few mods that will allow you to control the spawn rates of individual mobs, im drawing a blank to the name of the main one, perhaps somebody else can name it.
There was one called mob spawn control but it's no longer active. I can't find anything else like it.
You've awoken on this barren wasteland planet, a civilization once ruled and proud, but where is everyone? All the buildings are empty, nothing remains, all that can be seen is mass hordes in all directions of zombies, skeletons and other creatures never before seen. Inside isn't safe, Outside isn't safe, what will u do to survive this planet and escape? Can you survive the 1st day without death claiming you?
There is no natural light, when night time comes it's pitch black, no moon light and all that is heard is the scratching and moaning of whats around lurking to destroy you. Mining reveals unbeknownst horrors from the rocks just waiting to come out and devour your soul. Puddles of liquid blue or purple are not water, but also intent on harming you.
When you added that ents take extra damage from TiC hatchets, was the lack of extra damage from their lumber axe an oversight? Also, I think that if ents take extra damage from axes, than geonaches should take extra damage from pickaxes\hammers and possibly even spriggans take extra damage from hoes\mattocks\scythes, and zephyrs take extra damage from shovels\excavators. While this would make fighting these mobs easier with the right tool, it would make things a lil more interesting I think.
Alternately, you could or may need to go into each individual type of elements spawning config; eg Swamp, inferno, etc.
I checked that file, but I don't see any setting in there to make it use the existing spawning mechanisms. The only thing I see is B:"Disable Spawning". If I set that, will it disable Lycanites' Mobs' internal spawner and I'm then on my own to make JAS handle them? I do see entries in config/JustAnotherSpawner/WorldSettings/BASIC/DEFAULT/EntityHandlers referencing a lot of the Lycanite mobs, mostly set to Type-Enabled = either MONSTER-true or CREATURE-true, but some are typed NONE-true and I don't know why that is. I also see lycanitesmobs.cfg in that directory containing only lycanitesmobs.fear and setting its Type-Enabled to NONE-true. I'm experimenting with these settings to see if I can make it work as I want it to.
Are the lava mobs supposed to spawn right next to the player, or are they supposed to obey the at least 24 blocks away rule?
They do, this is why I set some to only spawn in nether and some switching to normal MONSTER spawing. I'd like to see it obey player's vicinity rules.
I'd like to see khalks and lobbers not spawning in tiny little lava streams. Could that be fixed by just increasing the number of lava blocks they need to spawn?
So I tried changing the B:"Disable Spawning" setting, and Lycanite mobs are still spawning wherever and whenever they please, including places normal spawning rules say they shouldn't be able to.
Yeah, it looks like it's crashing while trying to write the concapede parts to NBT. Were they not designed to save when the world saves?
In any case, I'll add a try catch in that part of the code in the next update just in case that happens for any other mods as well.
Oops I didn't see this message! XD I can't repeat the crash for some reason but I'll keep testing, there'll be some weird bug somewhere, they are supposed to save on world saves as normal but they also store the UUIDs of the mobs they are attached to as they link together into a chain of mobs, this might be bugging out under some circumstance and breaking the save.
I've got a small problem. I disabled shadow spawning for the twilight forest dimension since twilight should be too bright for them to spawn, but I'm still getting the messages "It's pitch black you are likely to be eaten by something" all the way up to it saying a shadowy creature spawns from the darkness. The bug is, of course, nothing spawns as shadow creatures aren't allowed to spawn in that dimension. Is there ANY way I can turn off these messages for the twilight forest dimension as well?
I'm hoping I'm just missing something obvious here; I honestly expected that disabling the spawns would itself disable these messages.
Hmm I'll have to look into that, you can disable the messages in lycanitesmobs-spawning.cfg.
Please fix that, is relally annoying to join the game and be surrounded by two shades or chupacabras. It might be because I spawned them with soulstones obtained from a lunar grue?
You can turn off your soulbound mobs, for mounts they are designed to be summoned when you need to ride them and then unsummoned when you don't need them as they are dedicated mounts, Chuapcabras are dedicated pets that will always be around when soulbound, again you're best off disabling them when you don't need them, for guard dogs or mounts in stables you'll need to go out and tame them and then not bind them with a soulstone, you can also release your bound pets or mounts where they will still be tamed but no long bound.
With resetted config, only PredatorsAttackVillagers set to false, Spriggan deals absolutely no damage whatsoever, not even a knockback from damage or shaking screen. On the other hand, Rare Mobs still 1 hit kill.
I recently started a world using this mod in conjunction with the Better PVP mod. The mapping function of Better PVP distinguishes between hostile and friendly mobs. Some of the mobs in this mod are always hostile but appear as friendly on the map. I asked on the Better PVP thread about it and was told that this was ...
So my question is, does this make sense and can it be changed so that the hostile mobs appear as hostile in the Better PVP mod? The ones I noticed where the Chupacabras and Shades. There was a 3rd type but can't remember which one right now.
Due to some mobs being both hostile yet tameable (Chupacabra) and also hostile yet farmable (Pinky), I can't simply extend or implement the vanilla hostile class or interface, I do however override the vanilla method isCreatureType() which is the best way to check for a hostile mob as it allows mod devs to add logic for dynamic mobs such as the Chupacabra that can be both hostile and then friendly when tamed. If you could ask the mod dev to use "entity.isCreatureType(EnumCreatureType.monster, false)" to check for hostile mobs and say that it's because some mods have their own base entity class for mobs that can be both dynamically hostile/friendly/neutral, that would be awesome.
Another bug with minions, they will not attack rahovhart. As well as some mobs (such as the ender titan from farlanders) will not attack minions back despite the mob will attack any mob that hits it,
Hmm I'll look into them not attacking Rahovart, I can't help with mobs from other mods not attacking them though.
I would like to know when another version is going to be launched, because the planned creatures look awesome! And is there a way to see the changelog?
Thanks
The next version is going to be a little while as I'm slowly going through all the little bugs, etc, I aim for it to be a very stable build with lots of modded server testing. You can see all the change logs on the mod website, head to the downloads page and click on the version numbers to link to each update page: http://lycanitesmobs.com/download
I've been trying this mod out on my test server, and so far it has pros and cons. On the pro side, the Nether has become dangerous again, which is good.
The downside is that its mobs spawn absolutely where and when they will in the overworld, often disregarding light levels, sometimes spawning inside or casually flying through solid rock or wooden floors, and most importantly, completely bypassing Towny monster-spawn prohibitions inside towns. This means "safe refuge" towns aren't safe refuges any more, which is a serious problem for starting-level players who are completely outclassed by mobs that can now spawn right in their rooms.
Is there any way Lycanite mobs can be made to obey Towny town restrictions? If they would honor Towny spawn prohobitions, the rest of the spawning issues would be OK.
I've used Towny in the past and unfortunately it's a limitation of it being a Bukkit plugin and there's not much I can do about it. There is a Forge based Towny-like mod called MyTown 2 that even has additional mod rules for Lycanites Mobs to handle tamed mobs, etc. MyTown 2 also handles specific protection for many other forge mods too.
Ive gone through the mobevent config many times and according to the settings mob's force spawned due to a mob event SHOULD despawn after 10min .. however im noticing that there not despawning after any length of time and after spending quite a bit of time online, the are around my base seems to collect quite a lot of mobs all over the place as the diff event mobs arent despawning. I have all the entries in the section "event forced no despawning" all set to false
The forced despawn counts down on each event entity individually, however if that entity is in an unloaded chunk it will stop counting down, so you'll need to be around the enemy for that amount of time.
Is there anyway to eliminate or restrict vanilla mob spawning with this mod? I'd like to disable them completely and just have lycanite's mobs. Namaste.
Currently there isn't an option but I can look into adding one for you. In the meantime I recommend JAS.
The Lumber Axe should also deal additional damage, if it isn't then that's a bug I'll take a look into it. The Pixkaxe should deal extra damage to Geonachs, I'll add the Hammer as that sounds like a good idea. Spriggans are vulnerable to the same thing Ents are but not Hoes or Scythes, I'll add that though. I'm not sure about Zephyrs taking damage from shovels/excavators as they're made up of wind and lightning.
Some more bugs, spriggians don't seem to do any damage at all now? Also, summon mounts are not at full health once resummoned after binding. (might be intentional)
Also to keep note, lobbers are immune to all water damage, same with khalks. Frostfire/IceFire/ShadowFire doesn't seem to hurt them ether. Forest mobs are immune to flame damage. I said these before but keeping tabs.
Retested will mobGriefing on and off, no difference it seems.
Edit: pickaxe damage is also null towards geonachs. Unless is iron tier or above (may be intentional?)
I am not able to config the entitie ids so it crashed with the 3d items rpg addons mod.

The forced despawn counts down on each event entity individually, however if that entity is in an unloaded chunk it will stop counting down, so you'll need to be around the enemy for that amount of time.
I've sat at my base for quite some time after a mob spawning event, long after the time period that a despawn should occur & its not occuring
You've awoken on this barren wasteland planet, a civilization once ruled and proud, but where is everyone? I have tried multiple times to get these mobs to not spawn in certain dimensions. I have some mods installed such as the Erebus and the Twilight Forest but I can't get the Lycanites mobs to stop spawning there. I've tried using the dimension IDs as a blacklist and a whitelist and neither worked at all. Has anyone figured out how to get it to work?
Edit: I figured it out. I had to change it so the mobs won't spawn right away in newly loaded chunks because this allows them to bypass the spawning restrictions.
Its found in the "lycanitesmobs-spawning.cfg" file and you need to search for the line where it says "Ignore WorldGen Spawning".
Question, would it be possible for us to have downloads of individual mob sets?
Like, ya know, the categories they are listed by on the site?
I'm really sorry if it'd be hard to do, it's just... It's too many config files for me to handle the way I want to do so... One of the only mobs I truly want is the Warg... And I noticed that it's labeled as the complete jar is why I'm assuming it'd be a possibility, and I'm not the type of guy that can just spend 1-3 hours just to go through the whole config of a single mod if my aim is to disable approximately half of it (or a little more) when it's so big... You see, I'm already runnin' like 40 other mods or so. xD So when a mod is too big, it forces me to make an alternate installation focused around that mod (or if it's medium sized compared to some out there, like this one is, like 2 to 5 big mods)
Thanks in advance for an answer. (If you don't mind and have twitter, tweet @Howlatun when you reply if possible, even if it's just a Direct Message if possible... I don't check my MCForums account that often, but, ya know, I might be able to find time to check this in time to see the notification without the twitter notification if you can't do it.)

============================================================
Lycanites Mobs Update: The Way of The Warlock - Version 1.13.0.4 for Minecraft 1.7.10
Configs older than 1.11.0.1 will be reset.
============================================================
--------------------
Major Fixes:
--------------------
Rahovart is now rooted to it's home spot if it has one (when spawned into it's arena via it's event, not via spawn egg).
Rahovart can now be hit correctly with projectiles and some modded melee weapons.
Entities are now registered in the Init step so that other mods can detect them in their Post Init step, entities however have their spawns registered in the Post Init step in order to catch all modded biomes, etc that are registered in the Init step.
Fixed a crash caused by Summoning Pedestals with no player owner (can be created without owners using block placement commands such as from WorldEdit or block placing mods such as from Buildcraft).
Spriggans should now deal damage again.
Fixed a crash caused by owners with names that end in s (buggy punctuation code).
Fixed a bug where custom item drops were shared for each mob where for example, if a mob dropped a custom drop and then another mob of the same type dropped a custom drop, only the last custom drop would remain on the s
--------------------
Config Changes:
--------------------
Added a new admin utility config option in general that can be used to instantly remove specific entities by their current localised name (or localisation id if they don't have a string assigned).
--------------------
Balancing:
--------------------
Rahovart now summons 1-3 Belphs per player every 5 seconds in phase 1 up from 1-2.
Zoataur can no longer move or attack while blocking, block less frequently and will stop blocking when at or below 25% health.
--------------------
Minor Fixes:
--------------------
Silex, Ika and Cephignis are now immune to suffocation damage.
Fixed various crashes triggered by other mods.
Updated mcmod.info.
Spriggans are now fixed!
I'll look into those other things!
I am not able to config the entitie ids so it crashed with the 3d items rpg addons mod.

You can find the entity ID of each mob on the mod website: http://lycanitesmobs.com/creature click on the creature you need the entity ID of and it will have it in the popup.
Currently I release a complete pack, but I have designed it so that I can split it up in the future, however due to updating frequently it would take a while to release it in individual packs. You can however remove the submods in the jar file, though some submods incorrectly refer to others which would cause a crash, if you try this, post any crashes my way and I'll try to fix it. You can also disable mobs via the config.
Ah! That looks like a good option. Would you mind pointing me to where in the configs I set that? Lycanite's has a lot of configs...
.minecraft\config\lycanitesmobs>lycanitesmobs-spawning.cfg
Alternately, you could or may need to go into each individual type of elements spawning config; eg Swamp, inferno, etc.
There was one called mob spawn control but it's no longer active. I can't find anything else like it.
Just Another Spawner is the one i've used previously, but it does take a lot of work in fiddling to get the settings correctly
Arduous https://minecraft.curseforge.com/projects/arduous-lost-wasteland
I have no idea how I ever played Vanilla.
I love JAS. I find it is far more likely to "Just Do The Right Thing" than CMS.
Are the lava mobs supposed to spawn right next to the player, or are they supposed to obey the at least 24 blocks away rule?
I have no idea how I ever played Vanilla.
Hmm I'll have to look into that, you can disable the messages in lycanitesmobs-spawning.cfg.
Hmm I shall take a look!
I'll take a look into that.
Hmm I'll look into them not attacking Rahovart, I can't help with mobs from other mods not attacking them though.
The forced despawn counts down on each event entity individually, however if that entity is in an unloaded chunk it will stop counting down, so you'll need to be around the enemy for that amount of time.
Currently there isn't an option but I can look into adding one for you. In the meantime I recommend JAS.
The fear effect is inflicted by Phantoms, Shades and the Spectral Bolt Scepter. The sound is custom a mix of various ominous sounds.
If you swing a shovel, it makes a bit of a fan effect, unlike a pick, hammer, or ax. I like the concept, but I'm unsure that it'd be reasonable.

I've sat at my base for quite some time after a mob spawning event, long after the time period that a despawn should occur & its not occuring
Arduous https://minecraft.curseforge.com/projects/arduous-lost-wasteland
I got a shadow soulstone and then tried to use it. I crashed with this error:
http://pastebin.com/52115ppP
Have you tried setting each mobs spawn dimension individually?
Not sure if one dimension setting overrides another, so I don't know if that'll work or not, but may be worth a try.
============================================================
Lycanites Mobs Update: The Way of The Warlock - Version 1.13.0.4 for Minecraft 1.7.10
Configs older than 1.11.0.1 will be reset.
============================================================
Spriggans are now fixed!
I'll look into those other things!
You can find the entity ID of each mob on the mod website: http://lycanitesmobs.com/creature click on the creature you need the entity ID of and it will have it in the popup.
Does your in game name end with an S? If so the latest update should fix this issue. If not then I'd still try out the latest update.
Hmm I'll run some tests!
