Golem World 1.0.1 (full release) is out now! This mod adds currently 18 new mobs similar to the Iron Golem, with varying stats suchas health, attack damage or drops, and some special abilities. They are built in the same way as the Iron Golem, but the iron blocks are replaced by some other block.
The Ice golem can walk over water by freezing it, and over lava by transforming it into cobblestone/obsidian.It also freezes stuff it attacks: Can't move, attack, mine, enderpearl/teleport; if hit while frozen, take damage and become un-frozen.It'll also extinguish itself rather quickly when on fire. The Netherrack golem shoots fireballs similar to blaze's instead of attacking in melee, and is immune to fire (but it'll burn forever). It uses char/coal, blaze rods/powder or fire charges as ammo, right-click it to see ammo level. You need to set its 'arms' on fire when building one.The Redstone Golem emits a level 15 redstone signal. The Glowstone Golem emits level 15 light. The Gold golem does 10 hearts damage on average at first, but that decays as the golem attacks (down to 1 heart), and recovers if the golem leaves combat for a while. The Quartz golem can charge an enamy, moving faster and doing more damage on the first hit.The Lapis golem leaves a trail of blue particles in its wake. The Switchable golem can be switched on or off by right-click.
To get started, you need to craft a Paper of Awakening: surround a piece of paper with 4 redstone dust in the corners and 4 glowstone dust (you can swap redstone and glowstone). Then, build a golem in the correct shape (same as the iron golem for most of them) and right-click the paper on its head. This will consume the paper.Installation and compat!!This mod requires Forge and iChunUtil (as of 1.1.0), it will not work without!!There are no backports to earlier versions, and I will not make any. I will update to newer versions of Minecraft ASAP.It should be compatible with pretty much any other Forge mods.In 1.3.3b and later, I override the regular pumpkin and jack o'lantern blocks to make them placeable without a solid block underneath; if another mod replaces these blocks (unlikely), only one of the changes will take effect, but your game shouldn't crash.
Download and install Forge (use the installer, do not touch the jar)
Run Minecraft with the Forge profile at least once

iChun, for making iChunUtil open source so I don't have to figure out networking and config code
Bug reports, suggestions etc go to the issue tracker or on this thread
The source code is available on the Bitbucket repo
Bugfix release: should no longer crash when attempting to start with missing dependency iChunUtil 2014-06-06: 1.1.0
Update to 1.7.2 Now requires iChunUtil because I'm too lazy to write my own networking code. Netherrack golems now need fuel to shoot. 1 Coal/Charcoal = 4 volleys, 1 Blaze Powder = 6 volleys, 1 Blaze Rod = 12 volleys, 1 Fire Charge = 16 volleys. Pumpkin fix is disabled for now because of the changed block handling in 1.7. Ice golem Freeze effect disabled for now. Lapis golem trail broken (crashes with NPEs) Localization and configs coming soon. 2014-02-05: 1.0.1
Glass golems now hut themselves for 10% of any damage they do (this should have been in 1.0.0, it was an oversight 2014-02-04: 1.0.0
Finally balanced golems' HP and damage Lapis golem now leaves trail of blue particles Gold golem now has decaying attack damage that recovers when out of combat Quartz golem charges enemies Added Switchable golem (WIP): Can be switched on/off via right-click 2013-10-12: 1.4.0b
Added Quartz and Hardnened Clay golems: Same stats as Sandstone Golem 2013-09-07: 1.3.3b
Some tricksy hackses to make pumpkins & jack o'lanterns placeable anywhere (even on ice, glass, ...). 2013-08-19: 1.3.2b
Vanilla Iron golems now properly transform into my golems. Player-created ones will become my equivalent of Iron Golems, others will become a random golem except Ice. Also, my golems now remember who created them, not just whether or not it was a player. 2013-08-02: 1.3.1b
Ice golem now properly transforms lava sources into obsidian and lava flows into cobblestone. 2013-08-01: 1.3.0b
Added Glowstone golem: all air blocks it occupies emit lvl15 light Added Redstone golem: all air blocks it occupies emit lvl15 redstone power 2013-07-29: 1.2.0b
Added Netherrack and Ice golems 2013-07-18: 1.1.1b
Bugfix release: iron golem texture 2013-07-17: 1.1.0b
Added diferent textures for golems 2013-07-16: 1.0.0b
Great mod! Would like to see some more special abilities added to the ones that don't already, but other than that it was awesome to mess around with. It would be cool if you could put my showcase in the main post
yay dan i watched your video and i liked it and i am from team tdm
when you spawn a golem normally (the iron with a pumpkin) it spawns a random golem, but thats not all, it spawns a golem body (that does not move) and a invisible golems thats do everything, so you have a glitched golem´s body and the normal golem but invisible
and i must spawn the irongolem making the formacion (first make the iron T then replace the middle block for any other block, place the pumpkin, then place the block you replaced with iron again and then use the awaking paper)
Excuse me kind sir, but me and my modding group has started a mod very similar to yours with the same exact idea, and may I ask, will you get mad if we publish it? Its a little late to turn back as we are nearly halfway done...... And no, we did not steal you idea, we even have never heard of this mod before!!!!
Back from two weeks' vacation, so I'll just make one post to say a whole bunch of things.
Everyone: Thanks for supporting me, it feels awesome to see people actually use and like something I made just for the fun of it. You mean a lot.
Everyone who made a mod spotlight: I'll check out everyone's mod showcases then - thanks for making them already!
TheRainyAsian: No, I don't mind you publishing it. Mods with a similar concept are no rare thing, and sometimes (e.g. MFFS) a single mod might even split into two quite different versions. I'm sure each of us will still have unique ideas, and some people might even use both.
Everyone asking about modpacks, now and in the future: I already answered this question in the OP, please stop asking and RTFM. As a reminder, the answer is yes, unconditionally.
The Meaning of Life, the Universe, and Everything.
This converts almost all iron golems to others whenever i load a world, and even golems that haven't been converted can't move, be destroyed, etc. NOT EVEN /killall FROM SINGLEPLAYER COMMANDS WORKS ON THEM.
