best mod I've ever reviewed xD really fun to mess with!
Think I remember you reviewing the mod about 3 weeks back. Can't remember too vividly! =3
Things are progressing very well with the mod right now, for the next release. Haven't found any devastating bugs from the current version, so that has given me enough time to work on the next update even more. There are quite a few tweaks and changes, as well as some startling additions to the mod. Of course, I can't go into too deep of details, but one of them involves the casting of some very interesting spells.
Should I say more? Not too sure! If I were to give a rough ETA, I'd say that the 25th is a good bet. I may give some hints along the way, and hopefully some more mods will be updated for 1.6.2 by then so you can experience this mod in the best way possible - with a wrench covered in blood as you maniacally build evil contraptions!
...What was that? Blood Magic can be used for good things, too? Well, I suppose you could open a hospital or something.

Barely know anything of this mod, sorry. Just happened by a watched the second video spotlight for your mod, and thought I should drop off a suggestion.
Sacrificial Knives were made from Obsidian/Flint to be historically accurate. So if that's what you were going for, perhaps make the knives' recipe include 2 flint and 2 obsidian instead of glass? Makes the recipe a wee bit tougher as well.
Just a thought
On a side note, the reason I dropped by on the first place was to pretty much make 32x textures for a texture pack to be used in a modded server that has been going on for a while now, called "Magipunk". If Steel already notified you on using your mod in the modpack, great, but just for-warning you in case you haven't a clue. But back on track, if you like a few of the textures I create, feel free to use them, just let me know so I know to post a couple links if you're interested ^.^

Flint and bronze was used for most "pagan" sacrifices, iirc. Obsidian sacrificial knives were mostly an Aztec convention... now that I think of it, a few Aztec-themed additions would be awesome for this mod. Little pressed for time right now so I can't go into it, but maybe I'll suggest a few of the ideas tumbling around in my head later.

That is what I was mainly going for, Aztec ritual. In times of war (Which was nearly always for the Aztecs...) Any captive soldiers had their hearts brutally cut out and thrown down the temples steps. So what would be neat is when sacrificing animals that *would* have a heart, upon sacrificing them they drop a heart prior to the mobs body. So cow heart is larger then a sheep's heart, zombie could drop infected heart... etc. etc. Then you could use the respectable hearts to further delve into blood magic, have it be boiling the heart and eating it (Holy...) or using the heart to animate these *machines* WayOfTime was speaking of....
As for Pagan rituals. you make me want to watch The Wicker Man again. >.>
OH NAOO!! NOT THE BEES!!! NOT THE BEEEESS!!!! ARRGGHHH!!! MY EYES!!!!
Sorry. Was just bursting to yell that.

He probably did post it here, but I can't really remember anyhow. Everyone does have permission to use the mod however they please, so I am fine with it in any case!
Wouldn't mind seeing your textures, though I probably won't blatantly steal them. It will be nice to see how others do textures for it! Just a fair warning, though: the Blood Altar is getting a bit of a make-over for the next update, so I'd save that texture for later on.
As for the whole Aztec thing, I am not purposefully giving the mod an "ancient feeling," so to speak. It is more of a "modern" hemomancy, although in a Minecraft era. I did some research on Hemomancy in general (purely academic, come on guys!) and have seen that blood magic, initially, was done in an evil environment. However, it was later used to try to cure aliments of the body and do other such things. Like all magics, it has its dark side, but it doesn't completely overwhelm the good things you can do!

Fair warning though- The texture pack is going to be 32x I hear, which means the textures will be 32x that I make for your mod. Some modders dislike using higher resolution textures for whatever reason, just letting you know.

Alright, here are 2 images of the sacraficial dagger I made. One in 32x, and one in 64x. Personally, I like the 64x one. I just feel better making larger resolution images.. but eh, It's not my mod nor texture pack
Tried to make it according to the recipe... But the handle is leather bound that I made, so It's a wee bit recipe off. I can fix that if you'd like.. but I prefer leather handles
Making the glass blade proved difficult, as It's near white and a pain to get right. Hopefully you can see the gold in the blade as well, and the blade edges themselves.. I_I

Those knives are quite terrific! I believe that the main reason for modders not liking to have higher resolution textures in their mods is an issue of continuity - for instance, a great big sword that is 16x would look rather dorky if compared to a 32x dagger right next to it! Also, there is the slight issue of "what does the user want?" I think that if the user wants a 32x texture, he is more likely than not to go and grab one of the texture packs.
That said, I would love to see other textures when you make them. The Dagger of Sacrifice, for instance, would be an interesting one that I'd like to see - was trying to go with something similar to "wings" on the hilt, if that helps!

Thanks! Most of the texturing I do remains within the confines of Dropbox for the mod you see in my signature, so It's not often I get praise and it makes me feel good inside when people like what I do!
And uhmm,, Errmm... Well.... That was the Sacrificial Dagger... O.o
I just made it according to the recipe for the most part, though I can add *Wings* if you'd like >.>
Yea, sorry for not posting here yet (seeing Eyrion's post about me not saying it is in the pack) but I just hadn't asked for official permissions primarily due to the pack not yet being in a release state, and therefore no distribution except to me and my bugtesting buddies where we iron out any problems and report any bugs we notice to the mod authors.
I already knew your stance on modpacks was fine and dandy, just was making 100% sure I was infact going to add it to the pack before sealing the deal, so to speak. And sweet textures Eyrion. Also, don't feel too constrained to work within a 32x style, just don't go TOO extreme on the textures.
As for suggestions, while I have not had too much time to test it, something always feels risky to me about "limitless" lava. While I know that the Nether is a practically infinite source of it, infinite lava always just makes me wary due to it's insane power as a fuel source, as well as it's nature as one of the strongest weapons found in vanilla.

Aanndd here's the *Winged* Sacrificial Dagger.
I guess that's my problem with naming things so similarly. The "Sacrificial Knife" is the tier 1 knife that you get by the basic crafting of 5 glass, 1 gold, and 1 iron. The "Dagger of Sacrifice" is the tier two item that you get from placing an iron sword into a blood altar to transmute it. It was the 2nd one that I was going with a wing design, not the first. Your initial textures were already spot on! :3
As for the blood orbs, I was also trying to slightly vary the textures of the orbs, because it does get boring to say "this is better, because it has a different colour!" Hard to say too much in a 16x, eh?
I do like the more "crystalline" blood orb, i.e. the lighter one. If you want my opinion, go for that style!

Yeah, I understand that it isn't ready! I was just intrigued, is all. Looks like an interesting pack, for sure!
Well, there are two methods currently for "infinite lava" - the ritual, "Serenade of the Nether," and the Lava Sigil. The Lava Sigil is there to be a convenience tool in case someone needs to, say, make some sort of evil lava moat, and is more to be the opposite of the Water Sigil. As for the possibility of griefing with it... I think that if some a%$@)%# wanted to grief anyways, they probably wouldn't be bothered by having to get a bunch of buckets the old fashioned way. Those people are bad for the server, anyways, so they may as well be banned.
The Ritual is there for people who WOULD pump the Nether, and is there for server owners to not be overly burdened by all of that moving lava. It requires a Magician's Blood Orb (and an initial 20,000LP + 500LP per), so it is rather mid-game. The fact that it constantly drains your blood, and that there is no (maybe currently?) automatic way to get LP means that it is not a reliable enough power source for over night. Sure, I suppose if you have enough stored LP it isn't a problem, but it is either that or going to the Nether. I suppose what I could do is force it to only work while in the Nether, but that may be a deterrent for people to use it in the first place, compared to throwing netherrack into a magma crucible.

Is it possible to have it so that you can put a bucket and a lava/water sigil in a crafting square so that you can just get a direct bucket of the stuff without placing the source first?

I'll look into doing that, though I am not entirely sure why you'd need to do it. I am assuming a recipe that needs a bucket of lava, and thus needs automation?

Could you add an item/Book that lets you see everything about the mod something like the thaumcraft research book just that your book would fill up with hints on what to do next and it would have the notes about the things you have already done and everything would unlock in it while advancing in the mod
Ps if i mistyped something im sorry cause i just got a new keyboard xD
Something I agree with, one of the reasons I love Thaumcraft and T-construct so much are their "tutorial" books that help guide you along what everything does and keeps everything running smooth without having to constantly go to an outside source from the game to check something.
Woot. Always glad to see the new stuff in the update. Now I just have to get motivated to setup a tier three altar with full sacrificial runes. That way I can get used to it for when me and rogue eventually move onto playing Blood Magic without health regen. I still need to get around to making a blaster, maybe a sword, and then the armor.

Those textures are pretty awesome. If my computer was better I would probably play with a 64x texturepack.

As I said in my earlier post, I dislike having re coloured textures which is pretty much exactly what you said. I did not merely change the colour, I re did the entire inside of the orb itself and re-shaded it all again. I didn't do too much to the *stand* of the orb, since well... It's an orb stand, why would you need (In real life) a completely different orb stand then one that fits another perfectly, and is effective? I can create a whole other stand, but I didn't see the need to judging the orbs are exactly the same in diameter.
Now to the dagger/sword, that's great that I got it just right!
However, is there any set... scheme or such you want for the sword? The iron/blood/sword thing? I_I
If you have something in mind, and have a link to a picture for reference or something, that could help me out tremendously as I have no idea what to go for other then *Make sure it has wings" >.>
Alright... so I tried to alter the texture while at the same time trying to keep the "This is a better orb then the previous one" idea, look better? Tried to etch a rune of some sort in the added metal atop the orb, right in the center. Not sure how other's think of it though..
Ehh... didn't like the above one much. Here's a newer one;

That second one fits it nicely. Keep in mind that the blue orb is the Magician's orb, which is the 3rd tier. Just in case you were confused!
As to the "Winged Dagger," I really don't have any reference for it. Whatever I have as the texture is pretty much all I envisioned. Mainly, just a different hilt compared to the Vanilla ones, curving upwards towards the point of the dagger. If you were to think about fighting with it, it would be like a Sai, which would catch the blade of the other person. Hope that helps!
