do you have golems? the decanter can pick up and transport lava (or any forge liquid for that matter). id recommend making him from fireproof materials. i think stone or tallow golems where immune to fire.
but if you set him up correctly, he shouldnt even get into contact with the lava.
I don't yet, I'm way more advanced in Blood Magic than I am in Thaumcraft in my current world. I kinda started with Botania, moved into Blood Magic, and am about to get started building Thaumcraft stuff. (I skip the research because I've done it so much, though, so it's just a matter of getting moving.) I like your idea, but I'm unsure if it'll work - my problem is that I'm trying to automate placing lava inside the EnderIO Stirling Engines (which only accept lava buckets) as well as using lava to automate the production of obsidian (which I can do with the alchemical chemistry set, in theory, but I don't know how well it will work - I assume I need to use the ritual for it, though.)
The problem with the EnderIO engines is that there's no way to pull the lava buckets back out (although perhaps I can with a golem? Hmm...) I have yet to try setting up the obsidian production, as I had originally been planning to use Extra Utilities's version of obsidian creation only to discover that the recipe is nonfunctional last night when I was working on it. I also don't have my T4 altar yet so I can't make Dusk Runes (and won't be for a bit, I'm working on trying to get ghast tears - in this case, I think I'm going to raid the Twilight Forest for an Ur-Ghast spawner to make life easier on myself.) I haven't even been able to make my Air Sigil yet, literally my favorite sigil, because ghasts have been so unkind.

AngelFeather, you cant put it in a tank and use the ender io liquid transport to put in?
Nope! Stirling engines only take the buckets. It's what's so frustrating - it only accepts items, not fluids. The fluid conduits won't even connect to it.
im curious. whats the idea behind building spells with blocks? the entire system of customized spell creation is pretty cool, but the fact that youre actually building them with blocks, doesnt have a lot of flavour to it, and seems more like it belongs into a tech mod. at least it seems a bit off with how the rest of the mod works, which has more of an occult magic feel to it. as opposed to thaumcraft, which is basically all about tinkering and building machines with magic.
for example why doesnt the system work basically the way it is, by scribing spells literally into the world? onto the ground, or up walls? where the single blocks that make the spells up in the current system, are runes, that form words, that form the complete spell in the end?
imagine a room with a blood altar in the center, and all around it are various spells written on the walls. imagine it kindof like in skyrim, where you have these rooms with the shouts written all over a wall.
I brought this up before, but just got a response that the mechanics outweighed the thematic loss.
But making the spell components words that you write on the walls is an absolutely wonderful idea! This is EXACTLY what would make the spell system shine!

Then use a lava crystal. I just tested it and it works fine.

Oh, I could do that. I even considered it. But using the Serenade of the Nether to produce lava source blocks for fueling the Engines is actually five times more efficient, excluding the initial activation cost (and you earn that cost back very quickly - literally in the first bucket of lava if you use the full 100 smelt operations). It's definitely way cheaper. The lava crystal is definitely better for short-burn operations of less than twenty items worth (or a similar number of uses in an engine or generator for producing power), but I'm trying to build a long-term power system that will run higher-tier machines.
Very nice job on the mod, Way! I only started using the mod recently, and it's already one of my favorite mods of all time(right up with Pam's Harvestcraft, Forbidden Magic[Which I wouldn't have started using if I had never have started Blood Magic] and Thaumcraft 4)!
I actually have a small idea for Thaumcraft integration
While the idea of the Sanguine helmet is nice, I don't like how it doesn't have Devilish Protection(At least from what I know it doesn't). So I was thinking is, you can have the Sanguine Helmet as a lower tier option for TC4 integration, and add an option for when forging bound armour. You can add something like a Primal Charm to one of the armour's slots to give it the vis discount and the node visibility, or maybe even make it so that you put a Primal Charm into a tier 4-5 Blood Altar and get a new item, maybe an Imbued/Demonic Charm?
It's just an idea that I came up with that I thought you would like
Anyways, keep being awesome and keep up the amazing work with the mod!

You can already put the sanguine helmet a socket to get the goggles of revealing effect on your bound armor.
Went ahead and tested in creative. Standard key of binding seems to work fine for me mostly. There's a few items it doesn't work for. A few sigils, the sword. Didn't test every single thing. But most things were bound to my network.
Server key testing, and it seems to work just the same. A bit of a shame that the Divination sigil won't bind to the server network, so you can't know how much LP you have.
The only bit of troubleshooting I can offer is making sure the items you're trying to bind aren't already on another network. If it's bound to you, you can't rebind it to the server, I think, etc.
And also the word I've gathered around the mod forums is MCPC tends to not play well with some mods anyway and mod makers seem unconcerned about troubles players have there since they didn't specifically design for it. At least, that's the small bit I've picked up on while not understanding what most of it is all about. But I'd place a good wager on your problem lies there.
Finally a reply. Thank you for testing it in a non Cauldron (MCPC) environment. I will see if I can get it to work with the newest build, and then report it on the cauldron github if I cannot.

While you can put the sanguine helmet into the bound helmet, it doesn't provide the vis discount. The primal charm for the vis discount is a great idea though, and I would love that!

Exellent job on the mod. But, I unfortunately cannot transport my blood in way that is convientient and cool-looking (I could use golems, but I have too many of those for my own good.) Here, have a crashlog. I was attempting to pour LP into a Blood Altar via casting channels and seared faucets.

Oof. Elementals. Creative testing to know what I'm getting into. [maybe cheating, but I still got surprised, and killed a few times. Just saving myself some trouble since my summoning altar is in The End]
I thiiink most of them can be pretty manageable. Now is a good time to brew up some good potions.
That water elemental, though. Ouch. Is there any way to fight the [what I assume is] drowning damage? Whatever that thing does, it hits fast and hard, seemingly through all defenses. Resistance, feather falling, fire resistance, regen, there's ways to fight the damage the others can do. But Water is brutal.
Is there a good reason they don't drop demon blood shards 100%? For all the resources put in just to summon them, and the fight, seems a shame to not get anything for that sometimes. Suppose it can be argued they can be made easy by a few means....
While you can put the sanguine helmet into the bound helmet, it doesn't provide the vis discount. The primal charm for the vis discount is a great idea though, and I would love that!
Well, now that I know that it doesn't provide a vis discount, that seems like a legitimate idea again
The problem with the EnderIO engines is that there's no way to pull the lava buckets back out (although perhaps I can with a golem? Hmm...)
Fill golem to put lava buckets in, empty golem to take empty buckets out?

And by the way; Who is John Galt?
I'm here to officialize my collection of mods and my server, Saccheggio a Minecraftia modpack and server ( Looting in Minecraftia ) are live on this topic.
Thank you so much Wayoftime for your awesome mod, if you wish us to remove your mod just message and I will remove it as soon as I read the message.
Pardon me for making you read our information and for my maccaroni english ( I'm italian ), anyhow and anyway keep up the good work.
ok, im still playing in 1.6, and i dont know if this has been chnaged to 1.7 version.
but the way progression works from t2 to t3 is really frustrating. i discovered yesterday, that to make a magicians blood orb, you need 25000 life essence in a tier 3 blood altar, which menas you have to increase the capacity.
well, ive got the altar built up, only to discover that to make capacity runes, you need... a magicians blood orb?
so you basically have to build a mob grinder, and keep killing mobs, while the gold block drains essence. this seems to be the only way to charge it with 25000. why not make the capacity runes available more early on instead?
i dont see a balancing reason, why more capacity more early on would be problematic. since higher tier recipes require a more advanced altar anyways. so its not like storing 18k essence in a tier 2 (i assume it improves by 10% per rune like the sacrifice runes) lets you skip steps in the progression, or go through it faster. but it would allow to get to 25k by directly building a t3 with capacity runes.

It's just something you have to be very prepared for. The reason being, the Magician's orb unlocks a lot of really cool stuff. You can finally make that Master Ritual Stone and start making rituals. Which allows you to start working on your bound tools, including the sword. Which allows you to start collecting blood shards for your next altar upgrade, your next orb, bound armor. Sigil of Elemental Affinity is available, and that's pretty powerful, as well as the Sigil of Holding, if you're so inclined to consolidate other sigils, Phantom Bridge and Magnatism, too.
The jump from tier 2 to tier 3 is a big one, and is pretty fitting that you'd need to be prepared to make it happen. Personally, I liked having a balance of sacrifice and self-sacrifice runes. You have access to the alchemy set, go brew yourself a nice strong regeneration potion; Self-sacrifice is great for when sacrificing can't keep up. You can go with the mob grinder for sacrificing, if it's giving you a steady supply. If, during your preparations, it provides you a zombie villager, wouldn't hurt to pull that one away and cure it for later use. Chickens make nice sustainable sacrifices for all the eggs they provide; a pen of those wouldn't hurt. And finally, my super secret tip: Snow Golems. If you can make one, trap it somewhere for infinite snow supply, and have some pumpkins growing. Every golem provides the same LP as hostile mobs. For how cheap they are, I can only imagine that may someday be changed/lowered, but I think it's a good tip for now.
hey, is anyone else having problems with the alchemical chemistry set? trying to make some weak binding agents, but it's sadly not working. got enough lp, all the ingredients (double checked) but no particles
using v1.0.1e (1.7.2)
What orb are you using to fuel it?
Edit: Oh, that is some very clever coding going on. Was afraid that'd turn into a second post, but the forums just combined the two automatically. Very nice.
Got a bit of a problem with the mod on my server, its a 1.7.2 server for my friends and I, and we just started trying out mods. So far the only one thats on it is Mo'Creatures. Thought I would give Blood Magic a try. As soon as I start up minecraft itself, the game crashes. The report says it's something to do with forge and the liquid Registry. It works just fine when Blood Magic isn't on the server.
I don't yet, I'm way more advanced in Blood Magic than I am in Thaumcraft in my current world. Type: Dedicated Server (map_server.txt)
But making the spell components words that you write on the walls is an absolutely wonderful idea! This is EXACTLY what would make the spell system shine!
Then use a lava crystal. I just tested it and it works fine.
Finally a reply. Thank you for testing it in a non Cauldron (MCPC) environment. I will see if I can get it to work with the newest build, and then report it on the cauldron github if I cannot.
Edit: Woo, it works today!
While you can put the sanguine helmet into the bound helmet, it doesn't provide the vis discount. The primal charm for the vis discount is a great idea though, and I would love that!

Oh, I never knew that
Thanks for the info, and sorry for being a nub xD
Well, now that I know that it doesn't provide a vis discount, that seems like a legitimate idea again
Fill golem to put lava buckets in, empty golem to take empty buckets out?
Angels are bright, though the brightest fell. Though all things foul would wear the brows of grace; Still grace must look so.
And by the way; Who is John Galt?
Thank you so much Wayoftime for your awesome mod, if you wish us to remove your mod just message and I will remove it as soon as I read the message.
Pardon me for making you read our information and for my maccaroni english ( I'm italian ), anyhow and anyway keep up the good work.
but the way progression works from t2 to t3 is really frustrating. i discovered yesterday, that to make a magicians blood orb, you need 25000 life essence in a tier 3 blood altar, which menas you have to increase the capacity.
well, ive got the altar built up, only to discover that to make capacity runes, you need... a magicians blood orb?
so you basically have to build a mob grinder, and keep killing mobs, while the gold block drains essence. this seems to be the only way to charge it with 25000. why not make the capacity runes available more early on instead?
i dont see a balancing reason, why more capacity more early on would be problematic. since higher tier recipes require a more advanced altar anyways. so its not like storing 18k essence in a tier 2 (i assume it improves by 10% per rune like the sacrifice runes) lets you skip steps in the progression, or go through it faster. but it would allow to get to 25k by directly building a t3 with capacity runes.
What orb are you using to fuel it?
Edit: Oh, that is some very clever coding going on. Was afraid that'd turn into a second post, but the forums just combined the two automatically. Very nice.
