Thank you for the crash report. I have a few questions if you could.
Do you know what it was attached to? chest, furnace, barrel, dirt, etc.
Did you die as it was happening? ie blew up by a creeper right as you clicked the frame.
Where you using NEI to set a recipe?
Thanks.
Suggestion:
Could we please have a key to press so that when we click we craft a whole stack of that item instead of just one at a time?
I'm using these for a food production line with Harvest craft and it's awesome, but it'd be great to just make a stack instead of individual clicking so much. Thank you for your mod and your work.

I was trying to set a recipe with NEI and accidentally hit sneak+click the ? instead of shift+?
the sneak button in my controls layout is P.
I just hit P again completely aside from the crafting frame and it crashed again. I wonder what that means... I think maybe it's trying to call another function for some reason.... Hmm. I'll poke it a bit more and see if I can figure it out. I'll let you know if it resolves as something other than the crafting frame.
Suggestion:

That was always the plan. I just haven't found a key combo I liked yet. Sneak+right-click only works with a fist or items that can't be used(sword, potion, food, etc). The game will place the block or use the item and never tell me there was a right-click action. Using left click doesn't work good because people will accidentally craft something when they try to break the frame. For the factorization barrels it's not a problem. They aren't consuming anything and dropping a few items when breaking doesn't matter since it's going to drop it's inventory after it breaks anyways.
Adding a custom key binding starts to get a little more complex code wise and I was trying to avoid that for such a simple mod; but I probably have no other choice than to use one.
I was thinking of maybe a double right-click, but I'd have to test that. Not sure if people spamming the frame for a few items would accidentally craft a stack when they don't want one.
It'll get eventually. If I could have just sneak right-clicked, it would have been there from the start.
I think I've narrowed it down to NEI's potion crafting gui... which seems to open on p which is my sneak key.
I have no idea why it referenced the crafting frame mod if that is what caused it. Sorry bout that.
I would just say make it configurable. So I could choose which key to hold down to craft a stack.
And yaaaay Glad it's in the works. I hope you'll add that into the 1.5.2 version if you figure out how to do it because I don't think our server will get to go to 1.6 for a loooong time.

Oh cool. It's one of those things where I didn't expect a variable to change after the crafting frame gui opens. NEI might be setting it back to the players inventory when the potions gui opens. I added a check to keep things from crashing. It might may not set the recipe from NEI, but it's better than crashing. I'll try to see if there is a more graceful way of handling it. I'll probably post an update in a bit.

Oh definitely. I'm going to try and keep both versions features equal as long as I see people using the older ones. It's a simple mod so supporting two code bases isn't a hassle at all. I was actually debating whether or not to back port it to 1.4.7. I know people that don't want to lose their worlds and haven't even updated to the 1.5 branch yet.
So your thinking of adding redstone support to this? How about adding a new block, something along the lines of a "crafting dropper".
has a storage space the size of a single chest
gui is a combonation of the crafting frame and a chest
When powered by redstone it will output the item in the crafting recipe provided the required items are inside
(if facing a storage container will insert the item into the container rather then into the world just as a normal dropper would)
This could also solve the problem of player inventory checking the normal frame has as this would only use the item inside it. Just an idea that popped into my head after reading the recent posts.

I was thinking that might be a better option. I might not add it to this mod, but maybe a separate mod with a few other redstone type blocks. Try to keep this mod lightweight.
I was thinking of perhaps a caterpillar piston that pushes a block and then the base slides to close instead of the head. That way you could inch worm your way forward. Not sure what the recipe would be on that though.
Anyways, the reason I was thinking a different block would be better is because I just finished some tests with redstone. The thing is, while it will craft when it receives a signal, there is no realistic way to run the redstone due to the way the frames hang. Chests don't respond to redstone, so powering from that side doesn't work. Powering from the front will interfere with any sort of hopper setup as any signal disables the hopper. So, I don't know. I don't see it being usable at all.
A separate block is probably the way to go. The only thing with that though is many mods have auto crafting tables and this block would just be another version of one. It would be more vanilla redstone like and not need a huge buildcraft like framework to use. Maybe that will be it's niche to separate it from the others. Auto crafting for vanilla style minecraft... Hrmmm not sure...

Glad I decided to read this thread abit cause I was wondering and had a slightly different idea on how to do that. Instead of putting one of each item into the frame to craft that item you can put in more then the one into the frame and it would make that many each time you clicked it. So for things like bread you would have 3 stacks of wheat in the frame and it would drop you a stack of bread. If you wanted a different amount then take them out of the frame or make another frame for a lower amount. This is how I kind of figured this mod might of worked but, wanted to check so I read this thread to find out.
This works with all mods for crafting or just select ones or what? Looks like it works with Natura based on screenshots. Thinking of adding both to my server soon.
Posted an update. Added a 1.6.2 version and added full stack crafting. By default it's set to left control + right-click. In 1.5.2 you can change this in mincraft->options->controls menu. For 1.6.1 and 1.6.2 you have to manually edit the config. Minecraft doesn't persist it automatically anymore. Hopefully can get that resolved soon. It's a pita to edit the config manually.
Posted another small update. I changed the way slot clicks are handled in the recipe gui. I had coded it to have left click set the item and right click clear it. In theory that works well and is what a few other mods that have ghosted slots did. When they added dragging, that made things awkward since accidental micro drags of just a few pixels would cause it to do other things than the simple left/right set/clear mechanic. It annoyed me so I changed it.
Now right and left click or drag sets the item and clicking without holding an item clears the slot. Middle mouse click clears the whole crafting grid.
this mod is good, but i have some problems with it.
if you set some item on super item frame seeds(for example), and right click on that picture with cobblestone, it stores cobblestone instead.
it would be cool if you have seeds in your super item frame that only stores seeds when you rightclick it.
also it would be good option if you press some commands to be able to store all items of that type from your inventory.
also crafting frame dont work on ender chest.
i had some problems with monetizing my video on youtube.
Do you have any problem with making and monetizing videos on youtube?
Its not due to you using a mod at all so you don't have to ask modders about it since its not there game. You might have music in there thats not from the game or youtube could being a D-bag as they do time to time with minecraft videos.

only music i use is from video intro, and that intro i use for all my vids, and they thont have monetization problems
Due to the way the ender chest works that's intended. The ender chest's isn't exactly a container block as it may appear to be. The player has 2 inventorys, one you can access anytime by pressing the inventory key, and the other is the ender chest. The ender chest block is simply a way to access that 2nd inventory to player has.
Might not be the best way to explain it, but I hope it helps you understand why the crafting frame (as well as hoppers and anything else that moves items) won't work on it.

This mod is absolutely ingenious, I wish I had known about it before. I'm definitely putting it on my server, there's at least 10 places in my base I can imagine using it in combo with AE and such.
Great job and amazing concept!

Do you know what it was attached to? chest, furnace, barrel, dirt, etc.
Did you die as it was happening? ie blew up by a creeper right as you clicked the frame.
Where you using NEI to set a recipe?
Thanks.
I know people that don't want to lose their worlds and haven't even updated to the 1.5 branch yet.
has a storage space the size of a single chest
gui is a combonation of the crafting frame and a chest
When powered by redstone it will output the item in the crafting recipe provided the required items are inside
(if facing a storage container will insert the item into the container rather then into the world just as a normal dropper would)
This could also solve the problem of player inventory checking the normal frame has as this would only use the item inside it. Just an idea that popped into my head after reading the recent posts.
Minecraft NBT Inventory Swapper
Now right and left click or drag sets the item and clicking without holding an item clears the slot. Middle mouse click clears the whole crafting grid.
if you set some item on super item frame seeds(for example), and right click on that picture with cobblestone, it stores cobblestone instead.
it would be cool if you have seeds in your super item frame that only stores seeds when you rightclick it.
also it would be good option if you press some commands to be able to store all items of that type from your inventory.
also crafting frame dont work on ender chest.
Great job and amazing concept!
