How to deal with ignorance (in life, and on forums): The Zen way... Stay cool and polite, treat people as you wish to be treated, rise above your impatience. Everyone is ignorant of something at any point in their lives, including you.
I decided to try some minecraft modding and I think here is the place to start. My primary goal is a specific feature addition in 1.9, but I expect the way there is far away right now. The first task would be to setup the liteloader development environment I think, which is somewhat confusing. I'm following the old YouTube guide "Setting up LiteLoader with MCP in Eclipse" linked on the first page. Decompiling with MCP for Minecraft 1.9.0 worked without any issues and I loaded and run-tested the 1.9.0 client in Eclipse. Everything OK. Now how do I properly import the liteloader source? I did
but these repositories apparently only contain the master branch - or? I can't switch to the 1.9 branch I see on the web pages. Please anyone, help to get me started thanks or suggest alternative ways.
Since 1.8.9 the project has now switched to gradle from MCP, if you want to develop a mod it's now easier than ever. If you scroll up the thread a bit you'll see I posted some instructions on how to get the ExampleMod set up in Eclipse.
Thanks for the swift answer! Yes, I've seen the new build system. I just wanted to proceed slowly and keep it simple in the beginning to be able to understand. I planned to use gradle later when I'm more familiar with the tools. Is it still possible to use MCP with liteloader to target 1.9.0? In that case, should I use the git source (preferable since it will be upgraded) or a source snapshot? I like your old guide very much and I hope the new one will be just as good. Thanks for your effort in this.
No, you need to use gradle with 1.8.9 and above versions.
Gradle setup is MUCH SIMPLER than MCP. Look at the last few pages for guide with setting up Gradle with the Mars.2 version of Eclipse
not a ton of help for me to say, but I do run Jurassicraft (and LLibrary) together with Liteloader and Voxelmap all the time with no problems. Maybe a different version in there. Whatever it is I'm sure it's fixable
You can probably fix this yourself if you get the liteloader tweaker and transformer to be registered first (Which is probably why mamiya's works). Try installing forge by putting it in the mods/1.7.10 folder.
