After spending a lot of time reading on this forum, I'd like to offer some suggestions to mod users about how they should respond to the various talented mod developers that offer these wonderful mods. I see a lot of the same questions and, in general, a lot of abuse toward these developers.
Mod developers are giving you free stuff:
The absolute basic fact is that mod developers are giving you Mincraft modifications for free. They work very hard, producing some amazing extensions to an incredible game, Minecraft, on their own time. Developers have lives, families, jobs and other interests that extend beyond updating mods. Telling them that something they are essentially offering for free is junk is very rude and insulting. You are, in fact, hurting the entire modder and mod user community. There are many talented developers that won't bother sharing their work, knowing that many will malign it for no good reason other than the complainer being ungrateful and foolish. If you don't like what a mod does, don't use it. Mod developers owe you nothing. You owe them your respect.
Please support your mod developers:
Please, donate to mods that you really enjoy. I amazes me how little some of the best mods have been contributed to. Mod developers usually don't expect donations but ALL OPEN and FREE software needs to be supported by donations if expected to continue. As a professional developer myself, this makes a huge difference in the direction of software projects. On and around this forum I've seen talented mod developers disheartened to the point of nearly quittng due to rude and childish comments from ignorant mod users. Ultimately, when you attack their work, or them, you are attacking something they love that they graciously share with us for FREE.
Additionally, hosting mod files is not cheap. I'm not a fan of Adfly or any of the wait, get popups then download websites, but without them it would be rather expensive for mod developers to offer you the mod files for download. These sites allow them to provide these files. Five seconds isn't too long for what you get for free.
Crash log, or it didn't happen:
Thanks to Minecraft logging, it is easy to determine common problems with your modded instance. Obviously, id conflicts are something you can fix with config changes for almost all mods. Make sure you are using the correct mod with the correct Minecraft version, and Forge or Mod Loader. Just saying you have a crash means nothing.
About asking when they will update to Minecraft X.Y.Z:
Minecraft version updates can come with huge changes. Again, mod developers have lives, and often their personal needs outweight anything to do with game development. You have two choices, wait and use the older version OR go without until the mod developer can push an updated version of their mod. Please don't whine, insult or demand an update. Mostly likely, that will slow down development, not speed it up.

Also, I appreciate what you're saying here. Too many people get angry or spam updates to mod developers.
Yeah, I was get tired of users bashing some very cool people.
