Poll: Should I remove the Gravity Lift in a future update?
Ended Sep 14, 2014
It's just the alpha in the texture, Minecraft, (and OpenGL) does not handle alpha textures that well.
Sort of goes away from it being light and more towards lightsaber a la starwars, but it's just another idea. Would allow for building a set of stairs up a cliff face.
Unnecessary, as the light bridges stop anyway after 50 blocks (configurable), why would you need for a light bridge to only extend 1 - 10 blocks?
You can, they stop automatically, which you can change. Also, there is an exploit you can do to 'cut off' a section of a light bridge, just place one that intersects your light bridge, then activate/deactivate the other light bridge, and there will be a gap in your light bridge, you can just remove the rest by placing another one, activating it, then deactivating it (cumbersome, but worth it if you want this feature), but why would you want it just protuding from a surface anyway?
I see now, and I get what you mean. However, the NBT format is a pain to code around (that is why the gravity lift does not save it's height to disk when you quit), and it would mean a whole lot more work e.t.c. You can configure the length of the light bridge though in the config file (unfortunatey it does every single light source as well), good idea, but I don't think I want to go through all of the hastle again, however, I have greatly considered your light barrier idea and very likely start implementing it, and I also am trying to work on the animation thing, but it is like Minecraft doesn't support it. Also, with the opacity of the blocks, the texture is based on the textures of the light bridges in Halo, so they are about the same opacity, if you want to, you can easily retexture the .png files to suit your liking, that seems about the only option, as the opacity is in the .png file itself, not somewhere in the OpenGL code, so that isn't an option sorry.
I'm pleased that you're looking in to the Barriers. Like I said before, that feature alone would be enough to ensure I used this mod.
Re: the animations, I hope you are able to find a way to do it. I'm sure there must be some support in there for it somewhere (considering there are other animated blocks in minecraft) however whether or not you can replicate that on your bridges is probably a completely different matter. I hope you can get it working.
I suspected as much in terms of the opacity. I'm more than happy to retexture that myself, and I don't really care if it's variable or not, so lack of a config option for that isn't the end of the world.
More information please, what is the modpack, what the idea is, e.t.c.
Yeah, thanks for the idea for the barriers, strange that the idea didn't cross my mind.
The problem I am having with animations is that the light block is a model, not an actual block (it is like the texture of an entity model, and done the same way too), and I have no idea how Minecraft can animate modelled textures like that, either way, I'll do some research into it.
When I cut off power to a light rail, it rotates 90 degrees...
I am working on a large contruction with a lava pit where a light rail is the only way across... but this this bug, the bridge would need to be 24/7... this isn't too bad... but its annoying.
OK, I have found the bug and squashed it, (small typo with block metadata), the fix will be included in the next update! Thanks for notifying me.
There is a version for 1.5.2, find it in the old versions spoiler in the download section.
I guess, they were meant to be based on Halo's light bridges, but whatever you prefer.
the Gravity Lift the gravity? or power o r.w.e u call it resets to 0 after i leave my world. it is kinda getting annoying but it is very cool thing to use.
maybe i just dont know how to config this thing...
It is with everyone, it is said in the noted bugs, and the changelog, and quite a few places on my main mod page, but anyway, yes I know it is annoying, but I have no idea how to fix it as Minecraft's NBT system is the most pathetic system I have known. I am trying my hardest to resolve the problem, so you'll just have to reset it every time you need it. Sorry for the inconvenience.
oh frick sorry... i was looking everywhere but i guess i didnt look too much.. sorry about that. now i feel like jerks who dont read main page... lol
as long as the developers knows i can wait forever
and again sorry
