Does it bother you that you have a disembodied hand, or that you can only see a very small portion of your skin, when in first person?
This mod makes your third-person player model show in first person, so no more disembodied hands.
Those aren't the only reasons you might want this mod, though. Having this mod makes you feel awesome while you're running. Being able to see your two hands moving like you're actually running really is cool.
Also, bows are held in your left hand (like real-life right-handed archers), which also feels quite epic.

Download the latest version of the RenderPlayer API corresponding to your version of Minecraft and install it according to its instructions
If the file you downloaded for Improved First Person is a .zip, then extract the .jar inside.
Copy the .jar for Improved First Person to the mods folder (was the coremods folder before 1.6.2) in your Minecraft folder. (In Windows, the normal Minecraft folder is in %appdata%/.minecraft. You can type this path in Explorer.)

Reporting problems: Before reporting a compatibility problem with this mod, make sure it isn't in this list of incompatible mods:
Gulliver Mod: Incompatible because it replaces the vanilla player model.
Better Animations Collection: Same problem as above.
Any other mods that cause you to see inside your head: It's likely to be the same problem that the above mods have.
Optifine: There appears to be an issue where Optifine replaces the player rendering code Improved First Person injects, try renaming your Improved First Person mod file in your mods folder to something starting with 'z' (to make it load after Optifine).

I just tried to install the mod BUT, every time I do it forge says "there is a fatal error with the configuration of your Minecraft"

BTW I installed render API, Forge (latest), and Better bows 1.5 (love the mod), and of course the mod.
From what I saw I seemed to notice forge didn't seem to like this mod.
I use magic launcher.
I installed Render API into Minecraft.jar, Forge into Minecraft.jar and better bows into Minecraft.jar, and this mod into coremods.
EDIT: I found the fix. You install improved first person to mods folder not coremods. ( it says coremods on post)
EDIT 2: Nvm, Minecraft will load but wont open worlds up. Here's the crash if maybe it might help:

You think you could make it so you can see your helmet in first person (as a configurable option)?
I'll have to see how that looks first. It's quite possible the first-person camera moves somewhat independently of the model's head. I'd be interested to see what that's like, though it certainly doesn't seem like something you'd want to keep enabled (restricted vision).
This looks really good! I'm assuming eating food and throwing potions are included as well?
Eating: Yes. I just added some screenshots to the OP, if you wanna take a look.
Throwing potions: I assume you mean an arm swing for splash potions. Hadn't thought of doing this, but it would certainly be worth a try. Not sure how good it would be with potions being thrown instantly, though.
However, I refuse to use this over Animated Player because I have found the Shoulder Surfing mod.
I still await in hopes that hippo may update Animated Player, however. :\

Does it bother you that you have a disembodied hand, or that you can only see a very small portion of your skin, when in first person?
This mod makes your third-person player model show in first person, so no more disembodied hands.
Those aren't the only reasons you might want this mod, though. Having this mod makes you feel awesome while you're running. Being able to see your two hands moving like you're actually running really is cool.
Also, bows are held in your left hand (like real-life right-handed archers), which also feels quite epic.
Take a look at the screenshots to get an idea of what this mod does.
Please post here if there's any information you think I should add to the OP.

BTW I installed render API, Forge (latest), and Better bows 1.5 (love the mod), and of course the mod.
From what I saw I seemed to notice forge didn't seem to like this mod.
I use magic launcher.
I installed Render API into Minecraft.jar, Forge into Minecraft.jar and better bows into Minecraft.jar, and this mod into coremods.
EDIT: I found the fix. You install improved first person to mods folder not coremods. ( it says coremods on post)
EDIT 2: Nvm, Minecraft will load but wont open worlds up. Here's the crash if maybe it might help:

Curse PremiumI'll have to see how that looks first. It's quite possible the first-person camera moves somewhat independently of the model's head. I'd be interested to see what that's like, though it certainly doesn't seem like something you'd want to keep enabled (restricted vision).

Throwing potions: I assume you mean an arm swing for splash potions. Hadn't thought of doing this, but it would certainly be worth a try. Not sure how good it would be with potions being thrown instantly, though.
I can see how seeing your feet would be useful for parkour, but are there any other reasons? Perhaps I could add them to the OP.

Curse PremiumHowever, I refuse to use this over Animated Player because I have found the Shoulder Surfing mod.
I still await in hopes that hippo may update Animated Player, however. :\
