Probably because of the api update, mdiyo said he update it to give modders full control over tools, parts, and modifiers, that means more and better features are to come to this addon i believe
How about instead of disabling the vanilla tool recipes just make them so when you hold them you get mining slowness level 100 so they become useless but are still craftable.
This is not as feasible because I think I'd still have to overwrite them.

Once I get my coding computer back online, yes, I plan to make full use of all the new API bits which I haven't even looked at yet.
I tried to melt a aluminium cast in the smeltery but it's not working. Am I supposed to melt it in a normal furnace. If this is not a current feature I'd like to recommend it be added.

I posted this over at Tinker's main forums but it probably got lost in there.
I think it is more for your addon than the main mod. I was wondering if you'll be adding compatibility with bronze drops (tools/armor/weapons), steel and osmium. I love smelting down iron, gold weapons and mob drops etc., especially because I have Mo Creatures and Special Mobs which add a ton of gold and iron drops which I just add to the smeltery and away I go! Unfortunately, all the other weapons and armor they drop (Osmium armor, glowstone armor, lapis armor, steel etc.) the smeltery does not smelt. I can understand the gems etc. With IC2 and Railcraft and many others mods, my dungeon chests are now filled with steel and bronze weapons and armor which I am unable to smelt. I was hoping to have this addition in the smeltery since these additional ores are found in FTBs recent modpacks :)!
Also, Nether Ores! Would love to see these go in the smelter as well!
Thanks for the mod in its current state though, makes mob grinding for weapons and armor much more worth it!
I'm going to have "compatibility" by putting some lore in-game. On the one side we will have the Tinkers. They like to alter and rework everything that they make into something else, and not everything they make is useful. Base materials are crafted with known patterns in order to make them interchangable. It's the process of experimenting with different items and the usefulness of the item that makes them happy, not the tool itself.
On the other side, we have the Metallurgists. Their goal is to create the perfect weapon. Like a fine art, they melt down materials and blend until balance is found. The mixture is carefully poured into a cast, hammered to a fine edge, and perhaps a couple other materials are added to accentuate the piece. Such a fine piece of work shouldn't be tarnished by throwing random items on it. "
So, the question is, Will it be needed after the Reboot. Or are the two mods going to remain friendly, but non-compatible as they are now... It doesn't look good for Either.
oooo, will be adding this to my LP!
if you are open for suggestions, here are some(tech related)
* able to drain molten iron/steel into a empty table thing(forgot the name) and get iron/steel plates from railcraft
* refined iron as a liquid
* pouring refined iron into a blockmakerthingmabob(forgot again, silly me) to get machine blocks from IC2
* gear cast(4 ingots for 1 gear) for buildcraft/railcraft/forestry/any other mod with gears
* casts for other pure-metal based crafting components
this would expand TC to be used more frequently to make indrustial components, and not just only tools.
Throwing certain pieces of uncombined material into the smeltery doesn't do anything. Yet some do. I melted down three pieces of copper tool pieces, but a copper knife blade piece and a copper board would not smelt. Also no iron tool pieces I have are smelting either...am I missing something? I have plenty of lava in the tank (though it's not showing in the smeltery controller).
Also, crafting individual tool pieces is not producing ore chunks.
I got this because tinker's construct wasn't installed when my world was generated. I mainly wanted it so that I could use gregtech aluminum in my smelteries. However, I can't get molten aluminum out of gregtech aluminum ingots, blocks, dusts, plates, nuggets, or tiny dusts. I have tried using the Forge Lexicon (from the omnitools mod) to convert them, but the only thing convertible is the blocks. Which would be fine except that it converts a gregtech aluminum block into a tinker's construct bronze block, instead of an aluminum one. I have tried everything I could think of, and the only thing that is interchangeable for me is using tinker's construct aluminum ingots for gregtech machines, but not the other way around.
Adding Gear/Plate casts would be awesome. Youd still have to think about hwo to solve the tiered progression the gears have.Probably just say instead of using 4iron 4gold when crafted normally just make it 5 gold and 0 iron
Or you could just pour 4 units of molten iron over a stone gear or 4 units of molten gold over an iron gear in a casting table.
hello.
i have really annoying thing in my TC )
then i look to seared tank in NEI (http://wiki.technicpack.net/Seared_Tank) it need grass! not GLASS, just GRASS.
and says, that this grass "invalid ore dictionary tag3". (
that can it be?

KBI Enriched Gravel Mod -- sift out nuggets and chunks and make gravel useful! (Outdated)
Tinker's Construct Recovery Addon -- get back some of your half-used tool materials! (Outdated)
thanks
mDiyo hasn't added that in yet.
...or me.
I'm sorry about the lack of progress, guys, but my coding computer is _still_ offline :/

What do you mean by Offline,That its broken or your internet is broken?

mDiyo's Q&A:
"Q: What about metallurgy support?
A: I have little interest in this anymore. If someone else wants to add support, by all means do!"

Short answer, Not worth the effort due to Metallurgy Mod Rebooting.
Comment by mDiyo: http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/1659892-15xtinkers-construct/page__st__3840#entry23343887
"Metallurgy is getting a reboot. The very way its weapons are crafted is different from what TConstruct does, and its "enchantments" are baked right into the tool. These philosophies aren't compatible on a design level, let alone in a real setting.

I made my own shader pack, by the way.
