It recasts for me with Aquaculture rods (once I edited autofish.json - is it possible to have the Aquaculture rods in the config by default or by detecting if Aquaculture is installed?). My small problem is that it doesn't stop when my inventory is full (which is more of a risk with Aquaculture because fish of the same type can have different weights shown and don't stack).
I can definitely add the aquaculture rods to the config by default.
I can't really have it stop when your inventory is full, especially with all the extra fish types. I'd have to know every type of fish and check for each item whether you have a full stack in your inventory. Also I wouldn't know what type of fish was actually caught until after reeling, so we couldn't account for whether you have room for one type of fish but not another.
Here's the 1.8 release, not much added other than that. Hopefully nothing blows up, I didn't have any issues testing in single and multiplayer.
For LiteLoader you'll have to download the snapshot here since LiteLoader 1.8 hasn't been officially released yet.
Loving the mod, though I'm still having an issue with ClearLag. I'm using the 1.7.10 download (I don't care much for 1.8) and for the multiplayer server that I'm attempting to use the mod on, my line never seems to be recast after ClearLag removes it from the water.

I've been getting a few similar reports but it's hard to diagnose because I'm unable to replicate it.
Is the message displayed the default ClearLag message or has the server changed it? (the default is like "[ClearLag] Removed 15 Entities!". If the server changed it you'll need to modify the regex in the config file.) Does the mod respond at all on a ClearLag? Does it reel back in without reeling out, or are you getting no response at all?

Actually, I think an option to make it stop as soon as I no longer have any empty slots in my inventory would be good enough. Alternatively (or maybe additionally), an option to put whatever I catch in a nearby chest automatically (within 1-2 blocks of where I'm standing, and I could transfer the contents elsewhere via BC wooden pipe, AE2 import bus, etc.) would be good. I hope you're still willing to release updates for 1.7.10, though - afaik, none of the other mods I use have updated to 1.8 yet, so I'm not ready to switch to that version at the moment.

I can definitely add an option to stop when the inventory is full, but transferring fish into a nearby chest is kind of out of the scope of this mod, and it would have to know what items to treat as fish which gets difficult when it comes to fish added from other mods.

Yeah, with very few mods updated to 1.8, it doesn't make sense to drop support for 1.7.10 just yet. The 1.8 release was mostly because it wasn't too difficult for me and some people might really want it. LiteLoader hasn't even made an official release yet (only "unstable" development builds at this point) and won't until 1.8.1.

I guess I can't argue about it being out of scope, but FWIW you wouldn't need to limit it to fish. What I said was "whatever I catch", and if necessary, that could've included any items that entered my inventory while fishing (even if some of them technically entered my inventory for other reasons than being what I caught by fishing)

The server has changed the default [ClearLag] message, though the mod doesn't seem to respond. The ClearLag clears, or reals in the line since it's considered to be an entity, but never gets recast afterward.
If I could find out how to change the regex so that it might recognize it that would be very helpful. The server edited text is "[Prison] Removed 14 Entities!".

Sure, go into the config file (/.minecraft/liteconfig/common/autofish.json if you didn't already know) and set "clearLagRegex" to the following:
(Essentially the same as the default one but replace ClearLag with Prison)
Be sure the game is closed before editing the file. You may or may not need the comma at the end depending on whether it shows as the last entry. If there is no clearLagRegex entry, you'll need to create it manually.
Minebot can do this. If you are interested, PM me to get the newest version. It has Javascript support, so you can script it to e.g. fish for 10 Minutes (Minebot has a fishing bot included) and then use /minebot store to store whatever you have in chests.
Currently, the chests all need an item frame displaying what should go in there, so the bot automatically sorts your stuff (and walks if it needs to).
Actually, I just realized I don't even need an extra mod to put things in chests - if I just stand on top of some hoppers, anything that overflows my inventory will get sucked in by the hoppers, right?

Thank you for making this mod. It works perfectly on 1.8 using 1.8 (beta) liteloader. I can finally AFK fish while watching Youtube videos in the background.
It didn't work when I tried it. I attempted several times to reinstall it but every time it says "1 mod startup error" and that mod would be AutoFish. Trying to go into the control menu when in game crashes it. FIX DIS!

Redownload the mod, should be fixed now. The LiteLoader snapshot updated which required me to recompile against the latest version.

I am having the same problem. Failed to start. Only mod loaded in liteloader.

I looked into it, and unless I'm wrong it seems to actually be an tiny issue on LiteLoader's end. I made a report to the developer, but in the meantime I added a simple workaround for the mod, just redownload and hopefully everything should work fine.
Sorry about all the confusion. LiteLoader's still in beta for 1.8 so bugs are to be expected.
No, sorry, I've said before I don't support older versions.
I can definitely add the aquaculture rods to the config by default.

It would appear you're correct, and unfortunately there's not much I can do about it without developing very complicated workarounds.

Download Autofish 0.4.8 for 1.8

You might also need to get the latest update of liteloader. I switched to version 25 and the mod startup error went away.

This is correct, you'll need to reinstall LiteLoader with the latest version.
