If you want to use the mod in a mod pack, just credit me and link to this thread.
Also, it appears I broke the whole first post, so I guess there's no more info about how to use the mod. This is why I hate WYSIWYG.
Better Archery Mod
For Minecraft 1.6.2/1.6.4
This mod adds some new bows, various new arrow types, and quivers to hold arrows and allow you to easily switch between arrow types to fire.
This mod does not replace vanilla bows, so if you want to use the bows from this you'll have to craft them. The vanilla bow crafting recipe is removed, however, and the crafting recipe for the normal bows is changed to have leather for padding on the string, see the list of bows below.
The bows from this mod are meant to be used with the quivers, not with arrows straight in your inventory, because with quivers you can nock the arrows quicker and switch between them more conveniently. Do not judge the pull-back times without your arrows in a quiver in your inventory.
This mod has to replace the vanilla arrows to make them able to split, expect a message saying item ID 262 is mismatched.
Skeletons will spawn with this mod's bows, with a small chance of spawning with a longbow, and a larger chance to spawn with a recurve bow. They also have a chance of spawning with potion arrows (poison or weakness). If you enable "allowSkeletonGriefing" in the config, they also have a chance of spawning with fire arrows, and a much much lower chance of spawning with impact explosive arrows, but only in hard mode.
This, indeed looks interesting. Although not as interesting as most bow mods, But it is very inclusive with the use of potions, and ender pearls for arrows.
I Like this more than most bow mods becuase most of it makes sense, like in other mods you can back a diamond bow!, how does that even happen? diamond is one of the strongest materials that can be found naturally, how would you be able to pull the bow back. as well as diamond not being able to bend at all. it is super brittle.
Look really cool except for the long bow is a hd texture. Is that required to make the bow larger or is that just what you made it look like?
I made it a 32x32 texture so that it could be double the size of a normal bow, though it's a bit less than double the size in third person because the string pulls back through the player's arm. If you'd rather it has a 16x16 texture for in the inventory, then I've got a sprite to use for that.

It's a cool mod. How do you instal it?
Whoops, forgot to put installation instructions up. I'll do that now.
Maybe you can make normal arrows craftable with other materials... iron, emerald,(would have a purpose other than lining the pockets of villagers.) even diamond, and make the damage correspond to the material used. I like the mod for the arrow hot bar and doesn't add a bunch of bows made out materials that don't make any sense like what cathac13 said...

I hadn't really thought much about arrows made of different materials, but I think that sounds like a good idea. Although I'm not really sure how that would work with the different arrow types... Maybe all the arrow types should be crafted like normal arrows are, just with the heads replaced with whatever the arrow type's recipe is... What d'you think?
I would leave them the way they are, and just make to where you could craft your specialty arrows with the arrows of the other materials along with the normal arrows.Obviously some of the materials you would not want to use.... like a diamond tip arrow to make a torch arrow. And to make sure we are clear on this I was meaning the arrow heads, though it could be the whole thing if you wanted to make it like that but I don't really see a point in that. Let alone someone making diamond tipped arrows until they have a full set of diamond armor and tools. But obsidian would be another good material. These are just suggestions keep up the good work!

Yah that would be cool. And is the fire arrow made with coal or blaze powder?(i have not installed this yet)
@AsHnasTies, sounds good. I was thinking I might make a new item that's just the stick and fletching, but maybe that would make the crafting process a little complicated...
@DaRkMaStEd: It can be made with either, though I'm thinking the blaze powder is a bit expensive so I may make it do something special (haven't got any ideas what that might be yet).

Does the fire arrow light blocks on fire or just entitys if its just entitys you could have the blaze powder arrow light blocks on fire?
They do light blocks on fire after a little while, and then the arrow disappears because it burns up. But perhaps the blaze powder ones could light more blocks around them and/or light them faster.

Yah you could do a 3x3x3 cube of fire that would be worth a blaze powder and would be good for pvp.

(For example: a longbow with blades along the front, or a compound bow.)
