Are your chests full of redstone again? Do you want tools better than diamond tools without getting a huge mod?
Well, my friend E-Tools (Energy Tools) are the tools for you! This small minecraft mod features a brand new tool, weapon, and armor set with special abilities that can burn off that redstone.
An informational and somewhat-amusing overview made by me:
By default, all E-Tools have the same effectiveness and durability as diamond tools. When they run out of durability, they become defective (same stats as iron, but with infinite durability) instead of breaking. Defective tools can be upgraded back into E-Tools by using a repair recipe. Depending on the settings you have assigned the tools using the ETData.txt config file, the recipe may be either a single redstone block or eight redstone blocks. Furthermore, depending on the same setting, tools may be repairable on an anvil with either redstone dust or a redstone block.
The StandardToolRecipes.png file shows all of the tool recipes when the settings are set to inexpensive (default)
The ExpensiveToolRecipes.png file shows the recipes for if the tool settings are set to expensive (configurable)
Also, they have the following abilities that use redstone dust (right click to use):
- Energy Blade (sword): sets ground on fire - uses 1 red stone; sets enemies on fire on attack - uses no red stone
- Air Blaster (shovel): destroys a 3x3x3 cube of dirt, sand, or gravel - uses 2 red stone
- Drill (pickaxe): Instantly destroys a single block of rock material (stone, ore, etc.) or dirt/sand/gravel - uses 1 red stone (can destroy bedrock)
- Chainsaw(axe): instantly destroys a single block of wooden material; destroys log blocks above a destroyed log block (cuts down trees) - 1 redstone
- Tiller (hoe): fertilizes/tills a 3x3 area of dirt/grass - 0 redstone; destroys a 3x3x3 cube of leaves/plants/vines - 1 redstone
Installation (Typical Minecraft Forge Install):
- download latest version of Minecraft Forge (install) from: http://www.minecraft.../board,3.0.html
- run Forge installer with Java SE Binary
- download mod_EnergyTools.zip from CurseForge at: http://minecraft.cur...-powered-tools/
- extract all files from mod_EnergyTools.zip into .minecraft/versions/(forge_version)/(forge_version).jar
To use ETToolData.txt:
1. If ETToolData.txt does not exist, start Minecraft to create ETToolData.txt
2. Alter specified data values within ETToolData.txt (in .minecraft/config folder) as you would like
3. restart minecraft
Upcoming content ideas:
- Energy armor!
- Sounds!?!
- better configuration GUI
- insta-break mode for drill that reduces overall cost of Redstone

The recipies seem a bit expensive... maybe use diamonds instead of diamond blocks?
I agree, but plain diamonds would be too cheap. i think one diamond block per tool would be perfect. 9 diamonds for an easily repairable tool with special powers.
Thanks for the feedback, everyone! I do realize that the recipes are a little expensive, so I'll work on fixing that up first... Possible solutions:
- tools are more easily repairable <-- don't need an anvil
- tools are more powerful (greater durability) <-- would be nice
- only one diamond block per recipe <-- me gusta
- a combination of these?
(I want to make the tools more powerful or obtainable without going too overboard)
Really enjoying your mod so far, but I have a few suggestions:
-You should make the Tiller repairable
-The Tiller transforms sandstone into tilled dirt which is really annoying!
-The Air blaster should take out a 3x3x3. You can't access the middle block in a 3x3x3 so it should break a cube which is in front of you (if it wasn't understandable, ask back )

Just fixed all three, hopefully, thanks!

Actually, the Tiller still can't be repaired, and the Air Blaster is still only taking out a 2x3x3. The defective tools are really clever but I hope you make it so if you had an enchentment on a Drill for example, and it "broke" you could somehow get your enchentment back by repairing it in the crafting table. I see a lot of potential in this mod so keep going!
Do you by any chance still have a 1.5.1 copy of the mod? I already have a bunch of mods set up in 1.5.1 and don't feel like downloading them all again.

I would love to make the tiller repairable; however, it is coded as a "subclass" of Hoe, which are not repairable by default. I'll see what I can do to override this :).
The air blaster does this because I have the block you click on act as the center of a 3x3x3 area, so it destroys surrounding blocks. By the next update, I may allow users to just edit how this works themselves using a .txt file (my main focus for the next update).
I'll see what I can do about enchantments as well. They can get a little complicated in the coding, but I may think of something that works.
There's some glitch with the air blaster in which right clicking doesn't work for me whatsoever. When I tried using one for the first time it was also an enchanted air blaster, when I right clicked the enchantment was gone and I couldn't enchant air blasters again. Rather odd bug.
This is nice, and cool. But other than being cheap for filling up, what advantages do these tools have over the ones that industrialcraft offers? I also agree with previous people. Diamond blocks do sound a little expensive. I'd like to suggest using a single iron block and a single diamond in each recipe, that might make things easier. Or possibly you could add a config for it like gregtech does with a "hardcore mode" and an "easy mode" that would probably make everybody happy.

I meant you can't click the middle block in a 3x3x3, so you should make the block you click on be on the side of the cube (right now, when you right click a block it only destroys 2/3 of a normal cube) I also think you should consider making the recipe configurable, so that everyone can adjust them to their preference!

Isn't that the whole point of using diamond blocks?
I have no clue what you mean. Zombie is saying that the recipes are too expensive, so diamonds might be better than diamond blocks.

The most important thing added is defective tools. Instead of E-Tools breaking, they just become defective.
Defective tools have the same stats as iron but with infinite durability.
Re-crafting Defective into E-Tools:
XXX X - redstone block
XOX O - Defective tool
XXX
This way, the tools are worth the cost, hopefully

hope you find it satisfactory. It would be awesome if you could feature it on the forum page
