I started with this tutorial. It isn't quite complete, but its a good starting point. I still haven't managed to make my blocks render in the inventory or player hand.
Thanks for a point in the right direction. I've managed to get it working and it's great! Now I don't have to worry about OC
I don't plan on backporting currently -- there's way too much work to be done in 1.10.2. Once it's complete, there's a chance I may work on backporting, or I may choose to work on new features (which have been on hold since 1.8).
Progress is moving pretty slowly since I'm still working on rendering framework. I ask you all to be very patient, as I'm usually too tired to put work into this during the week.

Good news, I've dicovered how to render them in the inventory. Send me a message (just want to get this converstation off the thread)
So I know that 1.10 is currently being worked on and Mineshopper is having a difficult time with the port because of the new rendering system but I have a suggestion that would put this mod over the top and maybe could be implemented once the port is finally done. So in this game Empyrion Galactic survival, it is a voxel based game. Think of it as Minecraft meets Space Engineers. And basically what you do is take a block, right click and this pops up Endless possibilities for building blocks.
To rotate all the shapes , there are a couple ways to do it. You can either keep the method you currently use or like EGS does is you have a keybind that switches the axis andanother keybind which rotates it or better yet modifier key+ scroll wheel to cycle through different orientations of said block.
Nothing new to report. I've been trying to enhance block rotation capabilities but it's been a bumpy road. I'll be sure to post an update here once I get something working.
Would be pretty cool if we could use the chisel to add lettering to blocks. Maybe uppercase, lowercase, and a few symbols? If you wanted to get fancy, you could even add multiple fonts. Anyway, text with one letter per block would be the perfect size for readability, and would look much more stylish than plastering the walls with vanilla signs.
I originally made this feature suggestion to the Chisel mod, but it is probably better suited here, as the carpenter's chisel already adds textures as overlays, and so wouldn't require hundreds of new textures. There may be a few kinks, like how to quickly cycle through letters/cases/fonts, but that could probably be handled with a new mode or by clicking the top vs the bottom of a block, etc.
If you are thinking of implementing this, but creating the textures is a hassle, just let me know. I would be happy to do it and can provide a couple of samples.

You could always do this with Chisels and Bits. You'd have to make the templates yourself but you could copy and paste them once you've got them... Of course you'd need to be on higher than 1.7.10.

Unless I am mistaken, Chisels and Bits would not be compatible with the sloping face of a Carpenter's Wedge Slope. This idea actually came from wanting to put lettering on a spaceship with sloping sides. It would also be nice to be able to place letters onto Carpenter's Blocks in general, for example if you wanted a cover on one side and a letter on the other. For regular non-sloping blocks, having letters engraved would be pretty awesome though, thanks for the tip!
Somewhat unrelated - I noticed a couple of situations of textures not rendering properly (Z-fighting). First is any Carpenter's Chisel texture on a collapsible block. Second is any time one block has a cover on it, there are cases where the edge of the cover fights with the texture of its neighbouring block. Example attached. Maybe not that easy to fix though?
I really like the mod! I'm making a 1.7.10 map and it uses this mod as well as other mods. some aren't being updated anymore. While I was making my map I noticed a problem. The hatch lets you climb it like a ladder which is a problem because it lets players bypass a certain part of my map. I looked in the config but there's no where to turn it off and it happens no matter what world i'm on. Is this a bug? Is there a different way to disable it besides the config file?
edit I: btw i'm using a mac
edit II: found a temporary solution. before, you could use the hatches to climb onto ledges that you would normally parkour to but I lowered the hatches so you can't climb onto the ledge.

Hi, Mr. Crayfish. i was wondering if your furniture mods would get a 1.10.2 update?
Wrong thread to ask. Go to the furniture mod thread with questions about that mod.

Progress has been painfully slow as of late.. but I've gotten through the most challenging bit I believe.
Side-facing collapsible?????
Now back to working on side covers
Eventually, once all the basic things are complete.

In general that hasn't been addressed due to the difficulty involved.

Dude, congratulations on that!
It's looking nice, and it's awesome to see how you're working hard to release it!
Well, I'll keep waiting.
Cheers!
And feel free to post some more pics xD.
Hi guys! I have a problem. I can not use glass from other mods (ic2 ae2) with Carpenter's Blocks. Glass block is placed just next to. Who can advise?
