It kind of looks like a block has issues. The tile entity either doesn't exist or it belongs to another mod. Either way it could be the result of a block ID mismatch.
I can't say for sure why this happens, but the end result is that even I correct for this error, there's still something wrong with whatever block is at those coordinates. I suggest trying a new world (just for testing purposes), placing the arcane lamp and a bunch of my blocks around it. See if you can reproduce the error, and let me know your results.
First, still under 1.9.5, I logged into the server, deleted the arcane lamps again, and waited for all of the lamp's light tiles to despawn. Then I updated to 1.9.9 again and tried to log in. No luck, but the server didn't crash, just the client.
I created a new single player world, added a lamp, and put a bunch of CBs around it: no errors at all.
I tried connecting to my server again, and actually got in, and my view rendered, for about 2 seconds before the client crashed again. Again, the server didn't crash, just the client, with the following report (which doesn't seem to give a location for a bad tile):

When forge updates to 1.7 and the new way resource packs are handled is it possible to have the patterns inside a resource pack rather than the mod file itself? That would make it far easier for distribution than having to alter the mod file itself especially if you, as my kids do, play on different servers that may use different patterns.
The way I implemented patterns and designs was the only way I knew how. I'd love to make it compatible with ordinary resource packs... just need to know how to do it.

I am "abusing" the chisel patterns system by adding opaque textures to it as a means of adding decorative blocks to my game, and I have over 90 patterns in my game. I did this because I wanted to add a bunch of scifi decorations to my game.
It's working great, but I really want to make a suggestion for people who have large quantities of blocks they want to set patterns on. Something like this would be great:
- Right click opens a GUI that lets you select the pattern you want to use.
- Left click sets the pattern on whatever block you're aiming at.
- Shift Left click clears the pattern on whatever block you're aiming at.

I've seen a crashlog with this behavior, but I don't know the cause. A future version will safely check icons before rendering, which may prevent it from crashing, at least.

Collapsible blocks placed side by side have the wonderful added feature of being able to collapse them together. This saves so much time. However....... is it possible to counteract this, so each block can be lowered independently of its neighbours. eg I want to have one block to slope with an upper edge of 16 and a lower edge of 9, and the one "downhill" to it having an upper edge of 8 and a lower edge of 1. ie they have the same slope, but one is half a block higher than the other.
Actually, is there any reason it has to be 1? Why not 0? That way, you can have triangular pieces without the square footprint. And you can have slab-height slopes without the "bump", or double-height slopes or steeper for steeples, A-frame houses, lovely European Alpine style roofs.

I see your points - I understand there's probably a lot of math involved when rendering the change made from one simple click.
If this were to be made collapsible from any direction, it'd be 8 points in space, each connected to 3 others. Now, assuming you (sensibly) disallow overlaps (eg the left being no further right than the right) each face still has at most, 2 planes (much like the top has now) and each of these is rendered according to the original face (top, bottom, front, etc) then it should be a matter of rendering up to 12 planes.
Start with a cube (first diagram) Now collapse one corner in one direction. ( second diagram - move C to D) Side ACEG is now a familiar 2-plane side, and triangles are formed on the two common adjoining faces. ABCD and CDGH. These are single planes instead of double.
Now collapse G to H (diag 3) EFGH now becomes a single plane triangle like ABCD. This shape has 5 rendered sides, 5 planes. CDGH is not rendered at all.

You could use tool modes like EnderIO's wrench has. Shift+Mousewheel (or mappable keyboard alternative) while holding the tool to switch between tool modes. Overcomes a lot of issues this way since it allows you to stack functionality onto a tool.
So I have an interesting issue... all my pillows and my undyed mattress is missing from my carpenter's beds. I updated my mod from 1.9.3 to the current version, and had some block id conflicts, which I fixed. None of the conflicts were with the bed, only with the newer items (torch, safe, flower pot), but when I loaded up my world it told me ID 2412 and 2411 were missing (I have yet to find anything wrong with my doors...). I don't know why I'm missing the pillows and mattress but I'd really like them back. I use Minecraft version 1.6.2. Any ideas how to fix this? Here's a couple of screenshots of what it looks like...

All the slopes are hard-coded as far as rendering. The collapsible uses four triangles for the top face when constructing slopes. A fully collapsible block in any direction would be a very big task. I've thought about it before, but that's about all. Time will tell.

The collision boxes sometimes cause a player to be blocked from entering two-high spaces when slopes lead to the opening. That's the only reason why I've never defaulted it higher. The code is rather complicated looking so I wasn't very successful in determining the cause.

I'm wondering if I should roll back to 1.9.5 again, delete all my existing CBs, and then upgrade and try. Fortunately I don't have a huge number to get rid of at the moment.
This is due to you changing the block ids of the thuamcraft blocks and replacing them with carpenterBlocks
the blocks in your world now believe them selves to be and have always been crapenterslopes or any other carpenterblock. The Tileentities still exist since the mapings are still there so now you have a carpeneter block with a thuamcraft tile entity. I'd suggest resting all your thuamcraft IDs to where they were and moving CB out of the way, Or world reset.

Just to be clear, because it's late and I'm bleary-eyed, I should record what the Thaumcraft and CB block IDs are under 1.9.5, upgrade to 1.9.9, then manually set the IDs to what they were under 1.9.5?
A world reset is out of the question. The friend I play with just finished the outer framing of his replica of King's Cross station, and I think he'd kill me if we reset at this point. lol
you just need to make sure the new carpenter block Ids don't collide with thuamcraft. I'm not sure what was added between 5-9 but look for carpenter torch and or safe ids and try mucking about with them

The way I implemented patterns and designs was the only way I knew how. I'd love to make it compatible with ordinary resource packs... just need to know how to do it.
Will probably have to add it as a second recipe.
I am "abusing" the chisel patterns system by adding opaque textures to it as a means of adding decorative blocks to my game, and I have over 90 patterns in my game. I did this because I wanted to add a bunch of scifi decorations to my game.
It's working great, but I really want to make a suggestion for people who have large quantities of blocks they want to set patterns on. Something like this would be great:
- Right click opens a GUI that lets you select the pattern you want to use.
- Left click sets the pattern on whatever block you're aiming at.
- Shift Left click clears the pattern on whatever block you're aiming at.
Eventually, maybe.
I've seen a crashlog with this behavior, but I don't know the cause. A future version will safely check icons before rendering, which may prevent it from crashing, at least.
I do have ideas for how to implement some GUIs, but haven't found the time lately. Plus I have to learn how to do them first.
Collapsible blocks placed side by side have the wonderful added feature of being able to collapse them together. This saves so much time. However....... is it possible to counteract this, so each block can be lowered independently of its neighbours. eg I want to have one block to slope with an upper edge of 16 and a lower edge of 9, and the one "downhill" to it having an upper edge of 8 and a lower edge of 1. ie they have the same slope, but one is half a block higher than the other.
Actually, is there any reason it has to be 1? Why not 0? That way, you can have triangular pieces without the square footprint. And you can have slab-height slopes without the "bump", or double-height slopes or steeper for steeples, A-frame houses, lovely European Alpine style roofs.

Hmm.. I see what you're saying, I just hadn't thought people would want to stagger corner heights. I just switched the hammer left click function to lower (or raise?) the height, so I'm now limited on what I can do to override this. Normally I would just have you sneak click to override this type of thing, but I have to think of something else now.
Currently, the one pixel lower limit is due to a data constraint. However, allowing sides to draw as triangles in addition to quads would put more work on my shoulders with regards to rendering. I'm pretty happy with its current implementation, and will likely keep it that way. I'm thinking about making it collapsible in any direction, but it's still up in the air at this time.
The next update is going fairly slow, but I'm making good progress. It's mostly rendering improvements.
I see your points - I understand there's probably a lot of math involved when rendering the change made from one simple click.
If this were to be made collapsible from any direction, it'd be 8 points in space, each connected to 3 others. Now, assuming you (sensibly) disallow overlaps (eg the left being no further right than the right) each face still has at most, 2 planes (much like the top has now) and each of these is rendered according to the original face (top, bottom, front, etc) then it should be a matter of rendering up to 12 planes.
Start with a cube (first diagram) Now collapse one corner in one direction. ( second diagram - move C to D) Side ACEG is now a familiar 2-plane side, and triangles are formed on the two common adjoining faces. ABCD and CDGH. These are single planes instead of double.
Now collapse G to H (diag 3) EFGH now becomes a single plane triangle like ABCD. This shape has 5 rendered sides, 5 planes. CDGH is not rendered at all.

Okay, so I have no idea how you render these double-planes sides - I notice some appear concave while others appear convex. (Is that an issue?) I guess my whole theory is based on this 2-planed thing. Currently, rendering as a quad, as you say, I'm seeing as 2 triangles. I dunno. maybe I'm ranting. Geometry I get. Programming... not so much.

You could use tool modes like EnderIO's wrench has. Shift+Mousewheel (or mappable keyboard alternative) while holding the tool to switch between tool modes. Overcomes a lot of issues this way since it allows you to stack functionality onto a tool.
After couple of tests it seems to be triggered 1 out of 3 times. Is this a bug with Morpheus or Carpenter's Blocks?

All the slopes are hard-coded as far as rendering. The collapsible uses four triangles for the top face when constructing slopes. A fully collapsible block in any direction would be a very big task. I've thought about it before, but that's about all. Time will tell.

Not sure. My bed should be treated like any other bed in the game - it uses most of the same code.
The collision boxes sometimes cause a player to be blocked from entering two-high spaces when slopes lead to the opening. That's the only reason why I've never defaulted it higher. The code is rather complicated looking so I wasn't very successful in determining the cause.
