How can I integrate thermal Expansion in my mod? I want to make a machine which requires a Redstone Gold Coil.
ItemStack goldcoilStack = new ItemStack(GameRegistry.findItem("ThermalExpansion", "powerGoldCoil"));
returns null... There isn't an TE 3.0 API, is there?
How do I access TE stuff (e.g. the coil) in my mod?
Sincerly,
Mayesters
I wrote the following code for my mod which works (You need the right name however), never managed to get the GameRegistry's find stuff to work:
public static Block getBlockFromName(String unlocalizedName)
{
Block temp;
for (int i = 0; i < Block.blocksList.length; i++)
{
temp = Block.blocksList[i];
if (temp != null && temp.getUnlocalizedName().equals("tile."+unlocalizedName))
return temp;
}
return null;
}
public static Item getItemFromName(String unlocalizedName)
{
Item temp;
for (int i = 0; i < Item.itemsList.length; i++)
{
temp = Item.itemsList[i];
if (temp != null && temp.getUnlocalizedName().equals("item."+unlocalizedName))
return temp;
}
return null;
}
public static Item getTECapacitor()
{
if (itemTECapacitor == null && !itemTECapacitorInit)
{
itemTECapacitor = getItemFromName("thermalexpansion.capacitor");
itemTECapacitorInit = true;
}
return itemTECapacitor;
}
You can make minecraft print all the registered items/block names to the console using the folowing:
public static void Print(String text) {
System.out.println("MCICraft: "+text);
}
public void echoCurrentBlocks()
{
Block temp;
for (int i = 0; i < Block.blocksList.length; i++)
{
temp = Block.blocksList[i];
if (temp != null)
MCICraft.Print(temp.getUnlocalizedName());
}
}
public void echoCurrentItems()
{
Item temp;
for (int i = 0; i < Item.itemsList.length; i++)
{
temp = Item.itemsList[i];
if (temp != null)
MCICraft.Print(temp.getUnlocalizedName());
}
}
Just to comment on the dynamos (Been testing them in creative mode) - might be a bit of tll;dr.
All dynamos tested with 1 bucket of fuel. (really wished WALIA would show the amount of fuel and coolant to help with testing. heh)
Compression dynamo - I just don't get the use of the different coolant (I sort of do, but soft of don't).
Gelid Cryotheum - Used 380 Mb, but hard to manufacture.
Crushed Ice - Used 760 Mb, but needs snowballs and iceshards to make (ok, I can get these easily from bees...)
Water - Used the Aqueous Accumulator, but looks like it's 3500 Mb without it.
So, in that sense, I get using coolants, but when there's an infinite water source, it doesn't make sense. I have a 32-Dynamo engine setup and the water level's keeping up nicely (at most, 320 Mb of water gets used up, then is refilled instantly).
My only complaint is that my Energy Cell Battery setup has to have each one manually set to output energy (out the top) to a main cell, and the orientation may or may not be the same for each cell (i.e., a right side slot might be the left side slot on another energy cell based on the direction I placed it).
Secondly, not sure if I like the Reactant Dynamos as they are right now (with the energy outputs and work involved). They seem a bit involved for about as much return as the Compression Dyanmos. (Haven't done too much testing, but the Compressing Dynamo gives about as much RF (1.5M) as the Compression Dynamo (1.6M) with a Ghast Tear, and the needed redstone/glowstone, which in turn cuts down that 1.6M number a bit).
Seems like I would have to set up massive bee farms (for ghast tears, blaze rods, and even partially automating the nether stars), and/or constantly hunting withers every so often for nether stars (don't think there's a way to automate the construction of withers...). That Reactant Dynamo (1 nether star filled - one with redstone, and the other with glowstone) netted me 4-5 Million RF (I stopped maintaining them after about 60% done, so there might've been some loss).
tl;dr version -
Compression Dynamos - Great, but I don't think I'm gonna be making coolant anytime soon when one lowly Aqueous Accumulator seems sufficient for a 32 Dynamo setup.
Reactant Dynamos - Seems like a ton of work for maybe 4x the RF.
Energy Cells - Could use an item (Don't know if there is one) to automatically set an output rather than rotating the thing (I'm assuming that's what the crescent hammer is doing).

Turtles can build Withers for you, and then you could use a MFFS force field to kill them.

Wouldn't the wither destroy the turtle? (unless it got out of the way REAL quick - would love to see a video of that! - and activated the force field - would hate to see what happens if server lag is involved.)

Anyway, if the Reactant Dynamos gave closer to 8-12M RF, then I might think about using them.
I'm thinking about using a Reactant Dynamo mostly because it gives me an excuse to build a Ghast spawner which with the limited amounts required by every other mod I have that uses ghast tears (the biggest user is Xeno's Reliquary) wasn't really required. I want to build one but now I can justify it to myself lol
This is what I love about discovering recipe changes (I don't always like to take a sneak peak at what every recipe will give). In the old FTB pack, 1 obsidian gave 1 pulverized obsidian dust. 2 hardened glass required 2 obsidian dust. So, I look up the NEI recipe to refresh myself on what I need. I see hardened glass, and it requires 8 pulverized obsidian! So I'm thinking, "Oh great, KingLemming nerfed it! He made Hardened Glass, well, harder!". So I go and collect 16,000 mB of lava in a portable tank (instead of mining it, which is what I was going to do at first), change it to obsidian in the extruder, put it in the pulverizer (thinking it will give me 1-1) and go get some more. I come back to find 64 pulverized obsidian! (1:4 ratio).
Now for that Enderium Ingot... (and replace that Coin of Fortune I lost to lava in an earlier mining dig.. good thing I had just put my ores into my enderpouch...)

Personally I use ExtraUtilities' Ender Lilies for ender pearl farming, on top of Endstone (which can be found in the overworld if you have Magic Bees installed).

I believe that change was because IC2-exp added 1:4 obsidian dust, so it had to be changed to prevent Ore Dictionary exploits.

I have 8 of those, too, but they grow very slowly, and only 1 was matured when I checked.
So ... yeah, I'm only using quarries and fillers from Buildcraft. (And only item routers and packagers from Factorization...)
Digital Miner from Mekanism is a good replacement for a quarry (and a heck of a lot nicer on computers.) Don't have anything off the top of my head for your filler needs, though.
I ran into a serious problem after making a copy of my server and upgrading TE to final release to test. It was completely derped, even after deleting all TE blocks and items before updating. I deleted the server copy and ran with the un-updated original (TE b10a).
I didn't think to make a copy of my client, though, and when I logged back into the server I get the following crash report. I thought I might have logged out in a spot that was previously occupied by a block, so I had another player log in to break the block. He got within maybe a hundred meters, and briefly glimpsed a column of energized glowstone flowing up into the air from a cave entrance, before crashing out with the same error. Neither of us had ever created any energized glowstone, but my server copy had that same glowstone.
The server is still running, and I can create and play SSP games, so I'm guessing that something exists on the server that shouldn't, and as soon as anyone gets close to it, they're kicked off.
I've unraveled a lot of crashes in the past, but in this case I have no idea what the problem is or how to fix it. I hate to have to ask for help, but I'm asking.
I have tried this with a chest but can't seem to get it to go from the chest to the Tesseract, how are you getting it to work? I have power from the Tesseract powering the Quarry!
I'm getting a weird error with Tinker's Alloy Blend: CraftGuide is saying "0 items for Ore Dictionary name 'dustcopper'". So, what does this mean, how have I screwed things up, and how do I fix it?

however it is a pity that TE doesn’t have correspondence to mc1.6.2 ...
You shouldn't be using 1.6.2, anyway, it has major terrain generation bugs. In any case, most 1.6.2 builds of mods work on 1.6.4.
Also, some capes appear to be zoomed in when applied in 1.5.2.
