well, in order to get the loot from these chests, you do have to fight your way through all the enemies... And in case you didn't see from the showcases, there are a lot of strong enemies there!
not only are the monsters hard (and only going to get harder haha) but all the spawning is turned way up for testing purposes (pyramids, ruins, mobs and loot from chests)I wouldnt be suprised if eventually when you come across a chest in Atum you are lucky to get 2 items

I really like the alpha release and had a couple suggestions. Could you make palm saplings, and fix the spawn rate so there's a little less mobs spawning at any given moment in time.
Please lower the spawnrate. It would really make the atmosphere of the dimension a lot better. Usually there's not that much going on in the middle of the desert.
maybe not in a normal desert, but normal deserts don't have undead. However once we get caves generating, there will be room for stuff to spawn underground, thus lowering how many are on the surface.
There is a biome id conflict, look a few post back for the fix.
