I attempted to contact chupmacadre about offering to update this mod to 1.5.2, but I have been unable to make contact. I went ahead and upgraded the mod for 1.5.2.
I decided to go ahead and uploaded the mod here for everyone else as well. I built this using the lastest version of forge and jre 1.7 (I don't know if any of this matters, but it's here either way.

I attempted to get this on 1.6.2 over the weekend. I was able to get the textures and whatnot to use the new resource system, but now you can't walk on the ladders. I'll have to take a closer look later and see if i can fix it.
You can add More Player Models to the list of incompatibilities, because it won't let you walk up the ladders :C

Currently the blocks do not rotate with the ship. If you activate the ship and rotate it 180 degrees the ladder block will now be facing the wrong way in relation to the ship.
The ladder blocks also become invisible while the ship is active for some reason, but they reappear when the ship is turned back into blocks.
This mod is excellent to get down from airships! It works as it is, but rotation support would be great!
Support added through Archimedes Ships mrot system.
Noticed a bug that placing a ladder machine on top of another block discards metadata. Causing it to always face the same direction, and take turn into oak of made of another wood type.
I've noticed that whenever I place a retractable ladder machine against a wall it turns into an oak r.l.m. regardless of what color it is. If I place it on the ground it stays as its own color.

Curse PremiumSince the author hasn't been around a while and I don't like using mods that aren't updated, I've ported it to MC 1.6+.
