The Village Marker allows the player to visualize villages by drawing dots on a sphere that represents the radius of the villages and drawing lines from all the doors that compose a village to the center of the village. Features 6 colors to help distinguish villages.

is there a way to use the mod on the server without having to install the mod to the server? want to use it on my vanilla smp server but dont want to force every 1 else to install the mod as well S:
There is not really. I could make your client run extra village code to simulate what the server is doing, but this is not necessarily going to be accurate.
coud u plz dont really need it for iron golem farm making u see me have a village for trading and ohso for looks so there running a round my island but theres oso a iron golem farm on my island so just want to make sure they dont get to close to each other
seeing the server is running on the same pc that me am playing on will that make it easyer ?
I should mention that you can install the mod on the server without require other players to install it. The server mod will check that a player has the mod installed before attempting to send any data to him/her. This means, if you are the server owner, you can install it and other people without the mod can play as if nothing were different.
o rly so just install it to my server and any 1 that has the mod instaled will get the dots and lines and any 1 who dont have the mod will just beable to play as normal ? didt know that was able to be done is it the same for that nether fort finder mod ?
and thx mate will install on my server then
umm stupid qustion how do u install a mod to a server ? same as the client ?
It's not the case for the Nether Fortress mod since it has no multiplayer support. If I ever make it multiplayer, I would make it work that way.
As for installation, check the last bit of the version 2 video, it gives an example of how to install it.
Got this working by modding minecraft.jar, but is there a way to do it using magiclauncher? And can I run this mod and optifine at the same time?
You should be able to get it to work with Magic Launcher, if you put the files in the "minecraft" folder (excluding the folder itself) into a zip and then loading the mod with Magic Launcher like you would any other.
This is not compatible with Optifine, and I do not plan to make it compatible because the creator of Optifine does not make the source available.
ok thx mate you the best but 1 thing if the nether fort mod is not smp how comes me seen jl use it in the old server tour videos ...or was me just seeing red boxes he edited in ?
That's actually a bug with the mod that I left in it because it ended up being useful. You can load the same seed in singleplayer and the lines that you've loaded will stick around in multiplayer.
will the lines move as the village grows ? trying to get the island booming with npc life to give it a medevil kingdom feel and for lots of trades XD so gonna see how big a village me can fit on the island know there will be like 5 extra villages but thats nothing to wory a bout as long as it dont cobind with the iron farm villages
Yes, the number of lines is equal to the number of doors attached to the village and they all connect to the center. So, as more doors are added more the data will change and the lines will change.
it seems that the bug has fixed it self D: loaded my smp world on single player went to the village then went to the smp world on smp and the lines vanished S: will try instaling the mod on my server will be good having that helper in till the next snapshot comes out
That was only a bug for the Nether Fortress mod. They are separate mods and it doesn't apply to the village mod, sorry for the confusion.
Is there any way this could work on a bukkit server? I can't get tango's iron trench to work and I think having this mod available would help immensely.

It would be possible, but I'm not sure how to do it. I don't know anything about implementing plugins for Bukkit and at this time I do not have plans to learn it. I'm sorry.
Your mod only has two class conflicts with Forge (version 7.7.0.608): avy and bfz.
Could you upload the source? I'd like to try and make it compatible.
Thanks!
The avy class is probably going to need a lot of merging, but since it's only two of them, I might be able to make a Forge version pretty easily. If I have time this weekend I'll have a look at it and see if I can come up with something.

Yes, apparently it does. But it seems as though it won't be too hard to fix.
So does this mean your going to make a forge compatable version? I really want to use this for SP. I use RedPower and I want to try to build the iron trench. I am running MC 1.4.7. This mod would help ALOT in knowing if things are working or not. If there is anything I can do to help, please don't hesitate to ask.
I'm already using your neither fortress mod, and love it, the ability to see fortress zones made life so much easier. Well done on both mods, absolutely love your work.

Single Player Only
The MP version will be much bigger, but I'll keep a SP only version out as well that should be pretty lightweight.

Edit: Got it working in magic launcher, but not with optifine. It loads up and runs, but the village sphere's are not visible.

There is currently no Forge version for this mod. I might consider making a Forge version in the future, though.
