'Combat Bars' is a small mod I made that adds 4 new items to Minecraft, which can help you in several situations, but aren't terribly overpowered at the same time. A few things can be configured through the config file (.minecraft\config\combatbars.cfg)
The Powerless Bar is used to craft any other items in this mod. This is the only item in this mod that can be stacked.
The Healing Bar, which is the main item of this mod, heals 3.5 hearts instantly if you right click with it in your hand. If your hearts are already full, then it will replenish 3.5 of your hunger bars. If both are full it will obviously do nothing. When you use it, it will give you back a Powerless Bar.
The Super Bar is the same as the Healing Bar except for that it heals all your hearts and replenishes 5.5 of your hunger bars. It will also give you Strength I for 7 seconds and Regeneration I for 5 seconds. You can also use it even if your health and hunger are full.
The Hunger Bar can be thrown at any other player like a splash potion and will take away 3.5 of their hunger if they are standing, but if they are sneaking it will replenish 3.5 hunger bars. This item is only obtainable through the creative menu. It was mostly an experiment, but if people want I could add a crafting recipe.
Strategies
This mod could sound a little useless at first, but if you learn how to hotkey, block hit and/or quickdrop, it could save you from dying. Those things are also pretty much the entire point of this mod. If you don't know how to do those things then this mod will pretty much be useless.
(Look up minecraft pvp hotkey tutorials on YouTube if you don't feel like reading this. They do pretty much the same thing as this except with soup.)
----------
1) Hotkeying isn't hard to do at all. Basically, if there's a huge group of monsters in a cave, or you accidentally hit some zombie pigmen, you should start block hitting them. To block hit you just right click and left click at the same time instead of just left clicking. If you block hit while fighting a bunch of monsters, you'll die a lot slower.
2) Now before any of this, you should always be prepared to fight. You might not always be prepared, and if you aren't, you're probably screwed. But to make sure you are prepared, have Healing Bars in as many slots in your hotbar as possible.
3) While you're block hitting, press 2 and then 1 really quick. Don't stop right clicking and left clicking. You will be healed instantly due to you still right clicking and you will still be damaging whatever you're fighting. After you used the Healing Bar in your 2nd slot, press 3 and then 1, and then 4 and then 1 and etc. Keep doing that until you either win or die. This way you will be able to kill a huge group of monsters or possibly get out of any situation where you take a lot of damage, as long as it isn't fall damage.
----------
Those steps only included monsters, but if you're in a PvP fight, you should learn how to quickdrop. I'm not actually very good at quickdropping and it's probably the hardest of these to do, but it can help you quite a bit if you're fighting someone.
4) To quickdrop, instead of pressing <slot> and then 1, press <any slot with a Healing Bar>, keep left clicking and right clicking, press Q, and then press 1, all in one motion. This lets you refill your hotbar with Healing Bars very quickly. If your opponent doesn't quickdrop, then you'll probably win because they will take more time to refill their hotbar.
I suck at quickdropping, but maybe you'll be better at it than me.
----------
You can really use this mod however you want though. These are just the recommended ways of using it.

1) Download and install the recommended universal version of Minecraft Forge here if you haven't already, and then run Minecraft to generate a 'mods' folder if you don't have one. Make sure to delete META-INF in minecraft.jar too. 2) Download my mod and put the zip file into your mods folder in .minecraft 3) Done!

Bugs
- Hunger Bar is not visible when thrown (still functions correctly though)
Other stuff
I got the inspiration for this mod from the McPvP servers, in which right clicking soup instantly heals you if you have low health. I thought it would be a useful thing to have in singleplayer or when you're doing survival with your friends. I searched for a mod similar to this and I couldn't find anything, but if you find a mod with the same purpose, please link me it!
If anyone has any suggestions for changing the crafting recipe(s) and I like them, I will probably use your suggestion. Same goes for pretty much anything in this mod; if you have a suggestion I like I might use it.
-Important- Well I guess this isn't that important, but this mod can take up a lot of inventory space, so you should get the Backpack mod to go with it. It just makes everything a lot more convenient.
Hey there! Adding your mod to the mod list right now. However, I was wondering if you could possibly add an indication as to what MC version the previous versions of the mod are for. I'm assuming one of those older versions is for 1.5.0, and thus, I will add it to both the 1.5.0 and 1.5.1 lists.
Good day!

I used to maintain the Minecraft Forums Mod List. However, life has stepped in the way of that. Perhaps later...

Sorry, somehow I forgot to add those. I'm adding them now.
Turns out V1.0 of this mod was compatible with 1.5.1 anyways, but this is how it was supposed to be:
Turns out the last version was really messed up and didn't work for 1.5.1, but it's fixed now. Changelog, V1.2:
- Added 3 new bars (can only be enabled if you set 'DoMCPVPBarsExist' to true): Mushroom Stew Bar, Cacti Juice Bar, and Chocolate Milk Bar. These all function the same as the regular Healing Bar, but are crafted like so:
[SHAPELESS RECIPE] Mushroom Stew Bar: Brown Mushroom, Red Mushroom, Powerless Bar [SHAPELESS RECIPE] Cacti Juice Bar: Cactus, Cactus, Powerless Bar [SHAPELESS RECIPE] Chocolate Milk Bar: Cocoa Beans, Powerless Bar
Those bars were added mostly for people who play on MCPVP servers.
- Changed the ids to 3843, 3844, 3845, 3846, 3847, 3848, 3849 (hover over the ID numbers for the item name)
- When you use a Super Bar, it adds to the amount of time left for each effect instead of replacing the time. For example, when you used a Super Bar twice really fast, the Strength effect would still only be 6 seconds. Now, you can keep using Super Bars and adding to the amount of time for each effect. So if you use 6 Super Bars, you will now have 36 seconds of strength and 24 seconds of Regeneration.
- Changed the name "Healing Bar" to "Normal Bar"
- Added more config stuff, the config file should be pretty self explanatory
- Maybe other things? I'm bad at remembering stuff I changed
---------------------------
Also, I never figured out how to make a 1.4.7 version of this mod. Forge textures are kinda confusing in 1.4.7, at least from what I've seen. Maybe I'm looking at the wrong tutorials, but it wanted me to make like 3 new classes just for making textures.

I will try to release the 1.4.7 version sometime today. All I need to figure out is how to give the items textures.
