After making my first world, there were lots of sudden biome changes along the chunk lines, kind of like it was conflicting with itself. Any suggestions? Also, amazing job on volcanoes, I found one where the lava went everywhere. But you might want to get rid of the unnatural round edge in the next update. Also, if you want screenshots I have some.

I'm not sure what's wrong with the chunk errors, it only seems to happen in some seeds...
By the round edge I assume you mean the lava chutes, right?
I've seen the throat protrude over the edge of the volcano sometimes, but it shouldn't be hard to fix.
Progress has been a little slow lately, as I've had non-Minecraft stuff that has needed doing, as well as another private (for the moment) mod that I'm working on. I should be able to push out a new update sometime soon though.
In my initial flyover I noticed that both steppe biomes I encountered contained a small pool of lava right at the surface, not sure if this is intended.
Standard Minecraft generation. That's just a lucky coincidence.
Trust me on this, you won't notice them unless you want to. It's not like they'll drop from any tree. The only way you can get them is by converting some of the vanilla trees in an extra item, that you don't even have to construct.
The saplings don't affect gameplay by being there. Just choose not to make the sapling planter, as Haekel said.
They are only there for people who want to grow the trees even though they are made from default wood and leaves.
Must have been my lucky day, during regular gameplay I never get such comfortable access to lava ^^
While trying to debug another mod I also noticed in my logfiles that better biomes throws a rather sneaky null pointer exception,

Funny thing is, this doesn't crash the game and I never would have noticed without the log. Just figured I'd let you know in case it gets important sometime
Changed it anyway. I wasn't using that method, so I removed it.
I've recently been playing with only better biomes activated on a singleplayer world, but a friend wanted to get together and build a large city. I know that he's a big fantasy guy so I tried to activate the fantasy biomes on our private server because of the gigantic Yggdrasil trees, but I keep getting Internal exception: java.io.IOException: Received string length longer than maximum allowed (17> 16)
Well, I do know where the problem comes from because in the server properties where you say to put "fantasyBiomesType" it is 17 characters long. I tried it with "betterBiomesType" and everything worked fine. I was wondering if anyone else had this problem and if it could be changed to something shorter like "FantasyBiomes".
Any help would be appreciated.
P.S. I am also playing on offline since I am using Hamachi, whether this makes a difference or not, I do not know.

I really don't recommend playing on the Fantasy Biomes world type. At last count it had a total of 4 biomes...
It just wasn't something which I felt was suited for the mod, so I'm planning to remove it soon.
Odd about the maximum string length being 16, but I'll fix that up.
Assignments, assignments, assignments. I hate them.
I finally got around to a bit of modding today, and added code to make my biomes generate in the default world type, like other biome mods, and my sub-biomes work too. So now you can find volcanoes in plains biomes, shields in forests etc.
The Better Biomes world type still exists, though the Fantasy Biomes world type was removed.
I'll release a new version ASAP, after I've textured three new saplings (eucalyptus, acacia, and mangrove), and ironed out any bugs.
A new version has been released. No new biomes this time, but a few major changes:
1. The biomes and sub-biomes now generate in the default overworld.
2. The Fantasy Biomes world type has been removed.
And a few not-so-major changes:
1. Three new saplings.
2. Improvements to the sapling planter.
This is a very good Idea if you want a diversified landscape like all the other biome mods have but you don't want all the extra baggage that come with those mods.Thank you. Great job!
Oh my god. Such a wonderful mod. I was really looking for more realistic Biomes mod, but one thing bugs me. I'm not sure if this Blossom Woods really fits, it stands out a bit too much.
There are few things that I love in different mods that adds variety of Biomes and I'd love to see your revisions of them in Better Biomes. I wish you had a biome like Sacred Springs from Biomes o'Plenty (http://i.imgur.com/Op4W5.png) and Seasonal Forest (http://i.imgur.com/v0kGx4C.png). Also about the first one - I'd really like to see it more realistic looking. Remove most of those waterfalls but leave few, add trees, leave the extreme high mountains and I'd fall in love with your mod stright away. I know you're not fond about adding more but I think there is really place to add something new to it.
Also, good luck with your mods and thanks for Better Biomes! They are better indeed.
EDIT: About Blossom Woods - to be more precise, I think that leafs are way oversaturated in compare with vanilla trees. If you're not into texture creation, I might help you.
Yes, now Blossom Woods are looking way better. What do you think about adding even more variety to them? Cherry trees are not one color only. Check this photo:
It would look even better with different colors (you could also add a rare, oversaturated one that you used for whole forest) and I could forget about autumn forest that I mentioned before, haha.

About savannah, the first one is WAY better.
The problem with that is that I don't add any new leaves - they're just the old ones with the biome dictating the colour. There might be something I can do with normal leaves, but I'm not sure.
Very nice, both the new Savannah and the new Blossom Woods look far better than before.
Highlands starts its biomes ID at 150 so I think they start after your own ID range?
After spending some time playing I have two issues that I have to report:
- The minor one, is that Oak Forests aren't present in the Generation.cfg file and cannot be deactivated.
- The major one, which alas is kind of game breaking, is that in multiple worlds I played, once you go too far from your starting point, world generation appears to crumble. Usually it starts with a patchwork of chunks of desert and extreme hills (even if these biomes generation is deactivated) followed by a very huge extreme hills biome with large rectangular chunks of chunks (!) of water left and right.
For example seed: -5859326416340046218 coordinates -2000 64 0 (if I didn't mess up the coord. it's straight west from the starting point)
Sometime I encountered the issue west, sometime south. I tested it with Forge 0.800 and 0.842
OK, so Highlands should be fine (just).
Major one I have no idea how to fix, nor what caused it...
Thanks for pointing out the minor one though. I'll have it fixed for the next update.
EDIT: Ah, I see what went wrong with the oak forest option - it had been named the same thing as the pine forest option.
Wow, you're right...
Why can't this just be simple???
EDIT: More evidence - its borders with other biomes are completely fine.
EDIT 2: I removed sub-biome generation and it works fine... maybe I'm trying to generate two things there at once.
EDIT 3: Success! It was an inconsistency between my sub-biomes and the vanilla generation. I'll push out an update once I get home today.

Not sure about that, there seem to be a lot of mods that already do that.
I'll put it in the polls.
