Ive tried running it without my other mods, I've tried a fresh 1.4.7.serverjar+latest 1.4.7 forge with no other mods installed, and I still get the same error. Dont think its a compatibility thing.. (but im clueless when it comes to any kind of programming/coding, so meh.)
The problem with canvas on a sculpture is that it makes the bounding box hard to interact with. Simply make a painting stay on the sculpture and "sink" down to its surface is not hard to do though.
Supporting other mods is possible ... I am using metadata to represent the block type information, supporting other mods would require me to expand this. But looks like no big deal.
Schematics can copy sculptures for you, they can even handle the rotations.
Hmmm I have no idea why certain methods are restricted on the client... usually I only test for LAN multi-player but it seems it's different this time...
Alright this will take more than a few seconds ... sorry for breaking things...
The biggest difference this mod has against Little Blocks / other things is that I am doing my best on optimization both in terms of data size and ticking performance. I think the rendering cannot be done any better already. Each sculpture only has a data size comparable to a sign post, and doesn't cost any server ticking if you leave it alone.
That's not the case if you request redstone support, obviously. And water, any fluid.
I could implement some sort of circuit breadboard kind of thing, but that will go a completely different way. Not impossible, just saying that there are already great modders doing it.

i thought in a kind of new item based on redstone. a wire, maybe?
and to use it the player would need a soldering iron, or something like that(?)
and, performance wise, if you can make some kind of blocks with predetermined functions (think chips), i think it would be faster than making the whole circuit.
but anyway, just the thoughts of a non programmer modderwannabe

fixed. sorry for breaking things. I'm uploading. Look for ver 0.0.6.
I couldnt figure out how to reproduce it at first, but it seems like it only happens after I've placed the canvas item in the world.
Some blocks (both vanilla and mod blocks) bug out... Any idea why?
(((This is in V0.0.5, I just saw your post and havent tried it yet.)))

derp typo. glBlend issue. Fixing and re-uploading...
That's why I need testers lol... many derp issues that I don't realize simply because no one is testing before I post it
It works perfectly! server loads and works fine! Thank you very very very very very much! <3
I'd have been emo for a week or more If I couldnt get this for SMP lol ^_^;
But yes, Its the canvas, when I break the canvas the bug goes away.

Now if you re-download the file it would render the canvas correctly ...
No need for the server to do this as it's just a line of rendering code.
Oh pretty. Update! I'm testing this pronto. And I +1 the comment above about this being one of the coolest additions to the game in a looong time. This mod is pretty much what I'd hoped sculptures in Factorization were going to be but ultimately failed hard. I run SMP exclusively, so I'll put this 0.0.6 through its paces in hopes of breaking the shazbot out of it for you. Thanks again!

Thanks man~ and I am willing to look into compatibility issues with properly written mods ( mods that are not technically outreaching more than it should be , sort of ) . Like if there's big issue with optifine I'll not feel happy until I get it working. Actually optifine is basically what I am waiting for on 1.5.

AND SHADERS! dont forget about shaders. they make the game much more enjoyable! also i think this would be a good addition to vanilla.
Great mod, make's it able to imitate furniture in minecraft, just a question though, will there be a way in future to mix blocks? What I mean is, taking part of a block and putting a part of other block (for a table with wood and glass for example)
the anvil is a vanilla block, though.
and i have another, more difficult suggestion:
redstone microcircuits possible?

only problem is, it's expensive.

Thanks a ton, this mod is the coolest addition to minecraft I've seen in the two years I've been playing it.
Thanks~
Things are a little buggy on 1.5 ... some are mine bugs, some are Mojang's, some are forge/FML's ... I think I'd better wait till like 1.5.3 or 1.5.4
