We get weird things with glowstone on our server. We are trying to carve pumpkins which look terrific with glowstone in them (after you remove the default face texture). But if someone logs out and then back in the pumpkin does not glow anymore.
Also if you pick up the entire pumpkin as a sculpture and place it the person who placed it will see it glow, but the other players do not. If you chisel a piece out and put it back then everyone sees it glow (basically any changes bring the glow back), but only if they are in the loaded chunk. Logging out/in shows it not glowing anymore.
Not getting tons of graphical bugs here It's working pretty great for us, only one real problem is when a tool breaks we get kicked from the server and have to rejoin.

First of all I'm afraid I need to remind you that I make this mod for fun rather than for picking up random responsibilities from the streets... I was a nerd student when the mod was first started, but now I am a man of a day job living in another time zone... My involvement is subjective to my calendar, so I suggest you pick up some java if your experience with minepainter is a crucial one.
As for the updates, I am certainly brewing something in my pot but I have another sideproject going and I only have so much time... sorry guys
Uh a certain version is on github but I was getting sloppy with syncing my code... may not be the latest version, I'll make sure it is latest when I get home.

For now you can use a new item called copy gun to copy your sculptures instead of the schematics. In the latest version when you break a sculpture you will get itself but not its pieces. And the hinge still exsits in game but is working in the progress.

Question. It seems that minepainter no longer creates a minepainter folder in the server folder with all the painting png files. I can't figure out where there going now.
I usually create custom png paintings in photoshop and put them in the minepainter folder, but now I cant find where to put them. Is this still possible?
Just being a dreamer, these two are the mods I use all the time.
What do you mean for now? I have the latest 2.6, I can't find a copy gun. Breaking the block only gives you the block itself. Only useful in creative mode.

Only one thing new - the Material Alteration and Interference Device (M.A.I.D). It looks like a pistol but is really the transmuter in 1.6.x minepainter. You right click a block to set it as the material, and right click on a sculpture to change all pieces of that material to whatever is set on your gun. No recipe.
The reason why the front page isn't up to date is,it seems to me that people don't care about versioning. If some buggy build gets out it stays out, and people won't check back for a fix, unless people dug out that build from thread posts and understand the build may not be a working one.
P.S This mod is really suffering from a lot of issues with Optifine installed together. I am very baffled with certain weird visuals that you see on sculptures in an Optifine-enabled game. Since I am likely the humble one when this mod conflicts with anything else, I am very willing to solve problems to get it to work with Optifine, but I don't expect to receive much help or at all.
That means if you can't tolerate certain issues with Optifine + Minepainter then you need to get rid of one of the two. As the humble nobody I expect people to drop minepainter, that's ok. The same applies when you have carpenter's blocks or Chisels.
The irony is, if you have a decent rig, OptiFine doesn't do a whole lot but smooth out a couple framerate hiccups (minor) and add a zoom button (other mods do that). I'd seriously rather have Minepainter.

Optifine breaks everything. But I haven't noticed any issues with Carpenter's Blocks in a long time. You don't give yourself enough credit.
Mine Painter is an amazing mod. It takes a game about one-size blocks and enables you to make beaches with umbrellas and beach chairs, ornate stairs and balconies, absurd statues, all kinds of furniture, and more or less anything else you want to.
Optifine is nice I guess, but I've had issues with it since 1.4.7. Even back then it was causing weird graphical issues for most of my friends, so I just stopped using it. Once I learned a little more about java and how to allow more ram/other params I didn't need it anyway.
Mine Painter gives you a freedom that no other mod comes close to. I Wouldn't trade it.
