you could make it so that the zombie boss is wearing the armor you dropped, and it's strength is measured with the amount of experience that you had when you died. you can also set a timer on the gravestone, so that you need to retrieve your items within a certain amount of time that you're close to the gravestone before the zombie boss decays and the items and experience are lost.

Hm... It's looks, like it is not mine. I use almost a spawner code in it for spawn monsters. And how some one said in your review's comments "it isn't in the mod I have the same problem". Anyway I will surely check it.
I'm looking forward to these wither catacombs, they seem really fun and challenging, aswell as looking cool.
I am almost complet it. All catacombs parts are now exists and it is required to fixes some small bugs, and complete generator logic. Anyway i think it would be better if I complete some additional things like loot in graves and spawn pigzombies and wither skeletons in catacombs before release it. (Completed)

grave can spawn pigzombie and wither skeletons with a small chance in catacombs
reduced max nearby monster count for spawning monsters by gravestone and added requirement any player in range < 35 blocks
different types of grave stones, based on different death type
maybe spawn some creatures from another mods too if it instaled
fog on cemeteries.
save some part of items in gravestone at death.
maybe, as a part of previously point, spawn specific monster to protect graves.
Beware ther are some traps in catacombs!
P.S. 1.5.1 version have small bug with Wither spawner(it works fine but showing wrong creature). I'll fix it soon.
