This mod adds three blocks that can store items just like a chest. But, barrels can only store one item type, but a lot of it. The quantity that is able to be stored varies by the type of barrel used.
This mod adds three blocks all storing different amounts of items. The most basic type, the Barrel can hold 64 stacks and is crafted as shown:
The second tier, called the Ender Barrel can hold 1028 stacks of items and is crafted as shown:
The best barrel, called the Quantum Barrelholds 4096 stacks of items and is crafted as shown:
Notes:
Note that these crafting recipes can be changed within the configuration file of the mod if you would like to change them.
Capacities of barrels can also be configured there.
How to use Barrels
I made a video showing all the features of the mod:
A re-cap:
You can put items into a barrel by right-clicking with your hand. All the items (if the barrels is not full) will be put into the barrels only if the item in your hand is matching the item, in the barrel.
You can take items out by left-clicking the barrel as if you were braking it. It will take out a stack at a time. If you want to take out individual items, you can sneak (default key is shift) and click the barrel.
If you want to put all the items in your inventory into the barrel, you can double right-click on the barrel.
If you want to upgrade a barrel (a barrel is nearing or is at capacity), you can double right-click a barrel with a barrel that is of a higher capacity. This will swap the barrel that is in your inventory with the one that is in your world without having to replace it having to re-sort all your items. Make sure you only have one barrel in your inventory or it won't work.
Barrels work with hoppers and dropper and other mods that have inventory changing blocks just like they would with chests, but only accept one item. Note that by default items can only exit/enter by the top and bottom. This can be changed in the configuration option.
If you don't like the plain look of a barrel, you can put a item frame on a barrel and it will take full advantage of it. By sneaking (default key is shift) and right clicking a item from an a side of a barrel, the item frame is going to snap onto the barrel and display whatever is in the barrel. If you want to take a item frame off the barrel, just place another item frame and both will pop of the barrel.
if you want to fit as many items from the barrel into your inventory, click one empty slot, then switch to another one and click again.
if you want to pull out a specific amount of items, sneak and hold left click, one at a time, items will flow into your inventory. Depressing left click stops the items.
How to install
Installation of any Minecraft mod is very easy. Instal the latest version of Minecraft Forge for your Minecraft version and run the game once. A folder in your installation of the game sound appear that is called "mods". Insert the barrels mod into the folder run the game and enjoy. There is no need to change anything in the installation file in order to get the mod to work no matter how many mods you previously had installed.

This mod is open source and free for anyone to redistribute and modify. Yes I know, this mod is similar to the barrels added by factorization (based on them too). The creator of the mod (neptunepink) has allowed me to do this.
The thing is, barrels don't have a GUI. Its all about clicking certain ways. To put items into a barrel, right click with the item you want to put in. And left click to take items out. There are other features that you can look at in the features tab in the original post.

*Cough* Copied from Factorization *cough*. You using exactly the same mechanics as factorization does. why to copy functionality.
Yes, this mod is similar to the barrels added by factorization. I meant it to be this way too. I’ll tell you why I made this mod in the first place: I run a private server for my friends and me. I was running factorization on it. Everybody was happy using the mod pack I built for this server. I thought to myself: “Gee, I can make this server a lot better for the next map reset!” So I started to remove mods that really aren’t that great, Including Factorization. I and the other server members wanted the barrels but not any other stuff Factorization adds. So, as I love challenging when it comes to programming, I decided to make my own mod that adds barrels so I can ditch Factorization. Once finished, I did some bug testing witch friends, fixed the bugs then decided to release the mod for other people thinking the same thing as me.
I looked on your mod and it looks like you want to be a modder. Let me point out that my mod is open source.
The truth is, I know nothing about java, but I am very eager to learn. Most of the tutorials don't really help me well. I used one of those mod making programs to make the mod.
Um, did you ask permission from the author of Factorization first? Seeing as this is nearly a direct copy of his mod, with a few extra features.
I mean, cool mod and all, but I'd feel better using it if I knew that he didn't mind spin-offs.
Edit: If you're going to talk about "innovation", your mod doesn't have much. You don't improve on the interface, the textures, the idea, you just add a higher tier barrel. At the very least ask neptunepink first, so that he knows you're using his stuff.
Btw, don't give me all the "intellectual property patent/copyright shouldn't exist" crap. It doesn't matter: you copied him directly without even asking.
Nice mod, one of the two thing i needed from Factorization, second - modular armor and there is already one separate.
One suggestion - factorization barrels have marker on the front, could you add something like that? Its convinient to see where block picture should pop up.
I hope there will be no problems with neptunepink
Thank you. Barrels were the only thing from Factorization that I actually wanted, sorry to say. It would be nice, but not necessary to have an indicator of what's in barrels, as others have said. It doesn't necessarily need to be the same as Factorization's, though. I would settle for adding an Item Frame to the basic Barrel recipe and have it display the item on it, with just a coloured "percent full" bar? I assumed from the comments that this feature was not in. Looking over the video review, I see that you do indeed have an indicator, and while it's hard to say for certain without a side-by-side comparison, I think it might even look better than Factorization's.
Also, as others have said, more visual distinction between barrels would be nice. Perhaps the Ender Barrel could have golden corners, like an Ender Chest, and a darker plank colour (like spruce). For the Quantum Barrel, perhaps something gemlike?
Finally, a thought if you were to expand on this idea. Make an Iron version of a barrel, the Drum. What I have in mind is a container that works like the tanks in some mods, able to be filled with large amounts of liquid when placed, but which can be picked up and moved without losing the contents.
i did the EXACT same thing . basically, i removed factorization from my server because people only used the barrels. but i really wouldve asked neptunepink before actually releasing it.

Ohhh, thanks for the reply. Sounds neat.

For Ender - add yellow (blaze rod) and gray (iron).
For Quantum - green and blue.
And second. Can you add button for show how many items in barrel, like
No.
He copied. Your spreading it. Good Job. Not Really.
