Oh snap, a release for 1.11.2? I feel like I'm dreaming reading that. This is one of the three main mods I've missed from 1.7.10.
If there is a simple way of letting mobs from my mod spawn on Galacticraft worlds without a hard dependency, I am so going to add content to mine to compliment players playing mine with Galacticraft (something I never got accomplished on the old 1.7.10 versions of both mods).
I figured I would ask this now in case there is an easy way to put that into Galacticraft before its release, if it doesn't have it already.
Please talk to me about this. We can probably do something like this. Best approach is if you can please open an issue requesting this on the Galacticraft issues list https://github.com/micdoodle8/Galacticraft/issues then we can easily take it further on Github.
Galacticraft has an API, it's easiest if you are happy to include one of the API classes as a 'soft dependency' meaning you'll need that API class (or the whole Galacticraft API jar as a library file) in your workspace to compile your mod, but you won't need to actually distribute the Galacticraft API class in your mod's .jar file. If an "isLoaded" check shows GalacticraftCore is present, then you can safely reference the API, in your runtime code, if not then you skip it. We will try not to change the API between versions (apart from essential changes for bugfixing, and apart from prefab classes which you won't need to use).
One thing to watch is that our modID changes to "galacticraftcore" all in lowercase in 1.11.2, I think probably all mods do that.
The API class and method would be something like PlanetRegistry.addMobSpawn(String planet, Class mobToSpawn, int randomChance) or similar, exact naming and parameter details to be decided. Galacticraft planets have celestial body names, unlocalised names, localised names, dimensiontype IDs, worldprovider classes, and dimension IDs. It's best and simplest to use the celestial body name here I think - e.g. "moon", "mars", "venus" - because those can't change, but the dimensiontype IDs and dimension IDs etc can change if a server decides not to use default configs.
PROMO VIDEO: Galacticraft 4 - Next stop: VENUS (fly-over)
The wait for Galacticraft 4 release is over. Venus is here. This is a fly-over showing the terrain and a bit of the dungeon.
Venus is the name of the 4th and latest dimension to be added in Galacticraft 4. It is a Nether-like place with steep mountains, vapor, lava and lots of dangers.
The sky is very cloudy with constant lightning storms. There's no rain or snowfall. The atmosphere is very poisonous and corrosive. The days are long: about 10 hours, and the sun moves from west to east. The gravity is 61%.
I ain't been keepin up with this mod very much, but if I ain't mistaken (and I could be), this means there's only one inner planet left---that giant scorched rock known as Mercury.

Sometimes, The Erebus really BUGS me...
In video games, you get rekt. In Jurassic Park, you get Tyrannosaurus Rekt.
Oh my gosh, I am so excited for this update. It's fabulous to see one of my two favorite mods of all time still kicking it. I really appreciate everyone's hard work on this mod. As a developer myself, I can associate with how much work it takes to make a mod and even more so one of this scale. Keep up the great work!
I said I was going to add content to my own to compliment people playing Galacticraft with mine but I haven't gotten to it yet. I've been in the middle of implementing a large, unrelated project in mine. And I have to relearn how to add an API to my Eclipse environment.
I downloaded build 106 and while playing I noticed that copper and tin were impossible to find. I checked core.conf after a long time of mining and for some reason both are set to false. Is there a reason this was done by default?

Thanks!
Do this: back up the current config somewhere else, and delete the original in the config folder. Update to 107 as some corrections were introduced. See if the problem is still there. If so, open an issue here https://github.com/micdoodle8/Galacticraft/issues if you have a GitHub account.
@Platinum_Fox those are very nice videos, we really appreciate you taking the trouble to do such a professional job.
It's great that you researched some of the new features in depth before you started filming. Good job finding the feature/easter egg where evolved zombies and skeletons can be sent tumbling on space stations
A few details I noticed, you could maybe add some of these in comments or something, we can also use these notes to add to the wiki:
you can make interesting shapes out of Vacuum Glass, for example it will automatically make diagonal panes on the corners, or you could build like an octagonal meditation chamber out of it (build 8 glass blocks in a 3x3 square with an empty block in the center)
the Chromatic Applicator is supposed to change the color of the white-framed Vacuum Glass so the frame can be any color, I'm not sure why that's not working in your demo, could be a bug we need to look at - which Minecraft version did you use?
put the Vacuum Glass next to water or use it to make the walls of a tank, and you can see into the water - no other glass does this!
the white-tinted glass is Strong Vacuum Glass, it's extremely explosion resistant compared with other glass
the shift description for Strong Vacuum Glass says it is made from Transparent Aluminum, that's a Star Trek reference
the Atomic Battery as a dropped item is not supposed to be a larger size than a regular battery, that's a bug!
the Atomic Battery has enough energy output to power some low powered machines continuously - for example Launch Controller or Oxygen Sealer - it's specifically intended so that you can have Launch Controllers working in remote locations without a power setup; but most other machines it can't quite power continuously, if you need a machine powered in a remote location you can disable the machine, put an Atomic Battery in, wait for the power bar to fill and then enable the machine and it will work for a while
the potions in the Abandoned Space Base look to be bugged, we need to fix that - again which Minecraft version did you use?
the levers in the Abandoned Space Base are for switching on the external hangar lighting permanently, otherwise the lighting switches off if you go outside because the Player Detector stops detecting you, this is one of the things we left unexplained for players to play around with and figure out for themselves
the Cargo Loader in the Abandoned Space Base is supposed to contain a load of junk items (potatoes and meat which have turned bad, poles, and other fairly useless stuff), and some good loot items at the end, there are different loot items on different bases, I think you saw Ghast Tears but there can also be Strange Seeds in there (the Strange Seeds don't yet do anything but they will in future...)
that Cargo Loader is locked so you can't just take the items out of it (and if you break the block, the items will all be lost)
the Moon Villager trading, they all sell the same items but at slightly different prices, so you can look for the villager offering the best price
the Moon Villagers will not give you schematics for sapphires, you still have to go to dungeons - but they will exchange schematics for other schematics, for example if you went to 2 dungeons and got 2 Moon Buggy schematics and no rocket, you can trade schematics with the villagers to get a rocket
they'll also compress metals for a price, and they'll fill an empty fuel canister with carrots for a price (which makes me lol!)
the Moon Villagers are kind of interested in trees - because they're trying to figure out why the Overworld has all these trees and the Moon doesn't - and therefore they want to buy Jungle Saplings from you because they don't have those...
the Shield Controller doesn't protect the player from damage but it protects armor from all damage - normally when you're fighting in Minecraft your armor gets damaged by each hit you take, but with the Shield Controller it's like your armor has infinite durability - again we were looking for a nice item which is worth going to Venus to get but isn't too OP (protecting the player from all damage would be OP!), we think that players with high tier armor or armor with Level 5 enchantments will especially appreciate this item in the game because it preserves their good armor
there should be a lot of noise on Venus from thunderclaps because there's basically a continuous lightning storm there, did you switch off the thunder sound?
one more thing on Venus is the sun moves backwards in the sky, and the day is very very long (as in real life)
Like I say, we need to get all this info onto our wiki, but you might like to put some of it onto your videos if you want to.
Can we have your permission to link to those videos from the Wiki

You absolutely have my permission to link these in the wiki! XD
thank you for all this very helpful and useful information. I might pin some of this information as a top comment on the videos. Or I could make a 3rd part and label it missed information or something.
I was using the 1.10.2 version because when I started building the set the downloads where still in beta and the 1.11.2 version was lagging at the time and porting the world to 1.11.2 didn't go so well.
Thank you for taking the time to watch these and giving me feedback.
there are now Evolved Endermen spawning on Mars and Asteroids (and Venus IIRC) - they are similar to Endermen, slightly tougher to fight and evasive so they're quite hard to kill
in theory the game also has Evolved Witches, you can get one in Creative from a spawn egg, in survival the only way to get one is for an Alien Villager to be struck by lightning (which is impossible, as there is no lightning on the Moon, but maybe can be done with an item from another mod) - some Galacticraft add-ons like More Planets will spawn Evolved Witches
Sensor Glasses have been updated, most interestingly they now show oxygen leaks, so put them on and you can watch where the oxygen is escaping to, they also add a blue-green outline effect to mobs which helps you see mobs in low light conditions
Any feedback on the Venus thunder issue? That should be present in 1.10.2 from Galacticraft build 103 and later, maybe you were using an earlier build?

I accomplish this kind of thing in my mod using "compat modules", which are loaded during preinit ONLY IF the dependent mod is present.

Oh ok, that. I forgot modules were a thing in modding. I remember using them way back for Zelda Sword Skills on the old 1.7.10 version of my mod.
Thanks!

Where should I go to get help on using the API? Like where to post questions?
I can't get it to work and I think it is because I don't know how to actually use one. I don't even know how I got what I made in 1.7.10 to work.
