Getting a crash with latest 1.6.4 version. On a server, any time I place an armor stand, if someone is near it their client will crash. The server stays up, but peoples client will crash. People log back in and then crash in that spot unless I roll back. I can place it anywhere and the same thing will happen, so it isn't just that area.
Please implement a sanity check on the update checker. Say, if someone has a captive portal, and they're playing minecraft without internet, and something external replaces the stuff in the update check, it invalidates the cfg, which crashes the game on next startup.
DO IT!!!!!!! I would love to have that feature so much.
Also someone had reported a crash on the Twilight Forest thread when putting Twilight Forest's new phantom armor on the armor stand. Reposting the crash log:
---- Minecraft Crash Report ----
// Everything's going to plan. No, really, that was supposed to happen.

Description: Rendering Tile Entity
java.lang.NullPointerException
at twilightforest.client.model.ModelTFKnightlyArmor.func_78088_a(ModelTFKnightlyArmor.java:136)
I'll look into seeing what I can do about that armor crash, but it is possible, like some of the other 3D armors, Twilight Forest may have to implement a null check on the EntityPlayer when I call the getArmorModel method. I pass along a fake EntityPlayer that helps in some cases, but depending on what they are looking for in the EntityPlayer, it can still turn up a NullPointerException. But like I say, I'll have a good look when I got some time and see if anything can be done my end first.
So on a server we're considering of getting bibliocraft, however the owner has one concern. Most of the time, when we have a mod block in a chunk in the world of Pandora (Our creative build world) and when we update/change the chunks they become corrupted. Is there any way to disable placing bibliocraft blocks in the creative world?
There isn't a way to disable placing of BiblioCraft blocks, but I've never really heard of chunks corrupting with BiblioCraft stuff, so I'm not sure that will be an issue. Most of the crashes that have came (and gotten fixed) are rendering issues, but I also have a work around for that in most cases via the config. Never really had any server issues that I know of.
http://gyazo.com/fd4...2477d4acadd16b6 This is just 2 days worth of downloads for the pack - 33k total we just reset the world a week or two ago and already have 3.9k unique players joined/logged on the world. It's raising by quite a bit, as you can see right now at 11pm on a school night I have 85 people downloading the pack.
I'm still not quite sure what happened here. It seems like a Table has gotten moved/destroyed without Destroying the TileEntity (should never happen if broken with a tool or via creative mode) and then a seat was placed in the same block space. So the seat then looks for its TileEntity to check for some values on load to determine how to render it and it crashes because there is a Table tileEntity there instead.
If you, or anyone, figures out how to reproduce this, let me know. That is kind of the next thing I need to understand before I can figure out where the problem lies and how I can fix it.
Might I add the link to my mod pack so someone may be able to tell me what mod may me conflicting with it. No bibliocraft textures will show up at all.
http://www.atlaunche...If someone could please download the pack and test it. This is no attempt for advertising. I really wanna know.
I even tried the default texture pack. Still nothing. Here is a screen shot of the oak desk.
This is odd. It is almost as if the "DisableRenderers" was set to "true" in the config file. Other than that, I really haven't a clue what could be happening. If that isn't the case, Is there any kind of errors in the log or any other clues?
Maybe this is old news, but I found a minor Thaumcraft-related bug. If I put a Thaumonomicon on a Bibliocraft desk, I can read it, but it won't update with new research I discover. Newly discovered stuff shines as usual, but can't be clicked and viewed. I have to open a handheld Thaumonomicon before new research is a available in the one on the desk.
I just tried this with 1.6.4, TC 4.0.4c and Bibliocraft 1.5.1 and it still happens.
Yeah, this is a known issue I haven't been able to resolve. It may be something I cannot resolve depending on how Azanor updates copies of the Thaumanomacon. It's just a minor inconvenience we have to put up with for now. Maybe I can figure something out in the future, but no promises there.
Laying awake this morning with some insomnia i got to thinking about it and realized that the Natura and ExtraBiomesXL add-ons for Bibliocraft automatically pull the texture from the pack you are running to texture the new chairs. I dont know anything about coding, but wouldnt it then stand to reason, that you could also make it so that all the rest of the add on items could also pull from the textures of everyones personal preference in texture packs to texture the Bibliocraft items?
I have spent the past several weeks stalking the BDCraft site hoping that someone would provide textures for the add on items, however it would make it easier for everyone if it would automatically pull from the textures of peoples packs like the Chairs already do..
Any chance of this in the future?
Also totally should update it for the 1.6.2 version. Not ready to update to anything higher
Eventually, I do want to do that. I have to design the models and everything to work in that manner, so it means I have to redo all the old models to a new format (OBJ format) and map the vanilla woods textures on to those. It is definitely on my list of things to do, but I don't see myself having the time until after I get a 1.7 port out.
The current version (v1.5.2) works in 1.6.2 and 1.6.4. I'll continue to do bug updates and such for the 1.6.2/1.6.4 version until 1.7 MCP and forge are stable after which I will port to 1.7 and no longer update 1.6.x. I think that it may be just a little while before those are ready though, so the 1.6.x branch will be the newest for a while longer.
Nice mod! Would be nice if you made an experience point storage container for the mod.
Personally, I kind of see enchanted books as a means for experience point storage. I'm not sure if I would want to implement something that just stores raw experience points into my mod. I've seen another mod too that adds a book that stores raw experience points by being able to add/remove your levels from the book. I'm not sure if its still around, but may be worth having a search for if that is something you're interested in.
Please implement a sanity check on the update checker. Say, if someone has a captive portal, and they're playing minecraft without internet, and something external replaces the stuff in the update check, it invalidates the cfg, which crashes the game on next startup.
Do you have a crash log? If someone is off the internet, it should just silently error out of the version checker and not be an issue. I've tested with offline situations and everything seemed fine. Could you elaborate on this "something external replaces the stuff in the update check" ? I'm not quite sure what you mean. If something external is messing with the BiblioCraft config, then I would think there is a greater issue than my version checker, which would be that something external, whatever it may be.
New version released! I put out the 1.5.2 update to fix the FakePlayer crashes. So just update to that and the FakePlayer crash should be gone.
I thought about it for a bit - I think I might know how it happened. Our server is plagued by random crashes due to Pixelmon/mcpc issues - so what probably happened was the server crashed and rolled back a chair placing, but maybe for some reason it still registered its entity there? Either that or its our CoreProtect plugin but I'm the only one who has access to its rollback features so I highly doubt that was caused by it.

Looks like the same problem but with a sign and chest this time. Honestly, if your crashing cause of pixelmon and mcpc enough to be calling it a "plague" I'd recommend getting rid of one of them untill the issues are resolved.

Due to my snarky and sarcastic personality I can easily be seen as a jerk. If I've offended you in any way it was likely unintended.

I guess the issue isn't with Bibcraft - Sorry for the troubles. As for removing pixelmon - it's the whole reason the mods so popular I can't simply remove it, as for a fix - MCPC is remaining quiet on the matter and Pixelmon says its not on their end. So not much I can do
two crash logs.
Render crash when trying to log into server. An oak desk was placed before hand and crashed as soon as it was placed in the world. http://pastebin.com/MRFMEAa6
both players have forge 1.6.4 build 952. the only build that can run Bibliocraft without crashing on load (that is without any bibliocraft items in the area.)
No worlds are corrupted. they still run normally. its just the client that crashes, the server run as normal.

I have a question regarding the typesetting table. I've been writing a newspaper for a while now, and the typesetting table has gotten overloaded with various things I've written. Is there any way to reset the typesetting table, removing most of these templates?
I just updated to v1.5.3. That should take care of the last crashes with the armor stand (hopefully) as well as a couple other things. Tested with the Thaumcraft static harness and the newer knightly armor from Twilight Forest. Check out my website at www.bibliocraftmod.com for more details as well as download links.

That looks like the same type of error that happened with the BiblioCraft stuff, but only with a vanilla sign and vanilla chest. It's like the chest block was removed without removing the tile entity and a sign was placed in the same space so when the sign looks for its tile entity it finds a chest tile entity and crashes. I would guess the BiblioCraft crash is caused by the same procedure which must be related to some other mod that gives players control over moving/removing blocks. That's my best guess anyway.
I have a question regarding the typesetting table. I've been writing a newspaper for a while now, and the typesetting table has gotten overloaded with various things I've written. Is there any way to reset the typesetting table, removing most of these templates?
Currently, there isn't any way to do this in game, though I do plan to address this at some point in the future with some sort of options in the typesetting table menu to allow removal of books. Mostly likely I will only allow removal of books by the author's and admins/ops with perhaps a config option to open it up so anyone can remove any book if they would prefer. For now though, you can remove the books manually by navigating to your minecraft folder. For singleplayer, you fill find a folder in the config folder named "books" where you can remove/add/edit any of your books you have saved to the typesetting table. If this is a SMP server, you will need access to the world folder on the server. In SMP, I create a folder in your world folder named "books" that will contain all books saved to the typesetting table on that server.
Thanks for the crash log, I wasn't aware of this until it was posted on my website earlier. I have already got a fix in place and uploaded the new version, BiblioCraft v1.5.3, to my website.
Thanks everyone. I'm going to try to get caught up on questions again. Things have been crazy the last couple of weeks trying to recover from all the damages that beastly lightning strike caused me. Then to top it off, one of my monitors died on my main computer last weekend. (Donations are welcome if anyone wants to pitch in and help me restore my gear ;D )
I can toss a few bucks in the pot... BTW, I highly recommend the LED-backlit monitors from Asus. They are awesomely good, rel;iable, and moderately priced.
Does twilight forest have its own woods? Last I checked their woods just converted to oak. It has been a couple versions, but it was a minecraft v1.6.2 build last I checked.
Twilight Oaks yield oak wood, but there's also canopy trees, mangroves, and darkwood trees that have their own woods, plus towerwood which is found only in structures, not in trees. (I think I'm remembering them all.)
Actually, I take that back, twilight oaks yield their own twilight oak logs, but the logs turn into normal oak planks. Canopy and darkwood logs yield spruce planks, while mangrove yields birch planks. Towerwood, though, occurs only as planks and is its own thing. Then there's the four specialty-tree woods, timewood, minewood, sortingwood, and transwood, but they don't yield planks at all. So I guess there would really only be towerwood, and it's not going to be in large supply.
So ... yeah, you're right, there's really not a lot of Twilight Forest support to add. My error; I thought there was more to it.
In other news, armor stands appear to be incompatible with Forge 952 on the client:

Client-side crash only. 952 on the server is fine.
The wood types changing to oak planks is a Forge issue. It also does it with our (EBXL) woods and Forestry woods. The recommended version of Forge for 1.6.4 is 916. Using that version seems to resolve the issue but using later versions is hit and miss as to whether they work.

In other news, armor stands appear to be incompatible with Forge 952 on the client:
java.lang.NullPointerException
at net.minecraft.entity.player.EntityPlayerMP.<init>(EntityPlayerMP.java:173)
at net.minecraftforge.common.FakePlayer.<init>(FakePlayer.java:17)
Client-side crash only. 952 on the server is fine.
Thanks, I'll have a look at the Asus LED backlit monitors. I've seen some of the older CFL lit Asus monitors and always liked them, but haven't seen any LED lit ones yet. Hopefully they will go on a killer sale somewhere online for black friday.
The armor stand crash you experienced has been fixed with the newest version of BiblioCraft. Head on over to www.bibliocraftmod.com to grab BiblioCraft v1.5.3 and that should solve your crash problem. You can also find my donate button on the right hand side of the screen if you want to throw a couple bucks in the monitor pot.
Is there any way not to save or delete the books in the typesetting table ?
I'm admin on a SMP server, and the typesetting table seems to be able to save only six books, didn't work for more, and everyone with a typesetting table has access to those books (which is not very handy if you wanna duplicate top-secret documents).
Is there any other way than manually deleting the books using FTP access, or any setting that would prevent the typesetting table from saving books ?
Hope someone around knows about that :/
Currently there isn't a way to remove books in game or hide them from other players when they are saved. But I do want to address these issues in the future. I went into a little more detail on how I want to setup the removal of books in my last post. The ability to hide books is something I think I want to give the player the option of so you can choose to make books only you, the author, can see or make the books public. But yeah, definitely something on my to-do list.
As far as a limitation on the number of books, there isn't any coded limit. Technically you can have infinite books because I just check the folder and list everything in that folder. There are some naming conventions that will cause the books not to save though. I can't think of what they are off the top of my head, but some folks have had issues with certain names before. That is about the only thing I can think of that may be preventing you from storing your books. Is there any errors in the client or server logs when trying to save a book?
I'll look into seeing what I can do about that armor crash, but it is possible, like some of the other 3D armors, Twilight Forest may have to implement a null check on the EntityPlayer when I call the getArmorModel method. I pass along a fake EntityPlayer that helps in some cases, but depending on what they are looking for in the EntityPlayer, it can still turn up a NullPointerException. But like I say, I'll have a good look when I got some time and see if anything can be done my end first.
I also had to set up a fake base Minecraft class, and potentially might have a similar problem, but in my case it will only be seen, and briefly, by internal vanilla routines unless running multithreaded. The proper fix, which I may have to do someday, is to write a wrapper class that passes all the calls onto the "real" class except the ones you need to change. It's a lot of work for some vanilla Minecraft classes, which are sometimes demi-god classes, especially EntityPlayer and World.

I don't know if the current version already fixed this but this happened when I tried to put a Knightly Helm from Twilight Forest onto an armor stand.

This is odd. It is almost as if the "DisableRenderers" was set to "true" in the config file. Other than that, I really haven't a clue what could be happening. If that isn't the case, Is there any kind of errors in the log or any other clues?
Yeah, this is a known issue I haven't been able to resolve. It may be something I cannot resolve depending on how Azanor updates copies of the Thaumanomacon. It's just a minor inconvenience we have to put up with for now. Maybe I can figure something out in the future, but no promises there.
All FakePlayer crashes should now be resolved with the newest version of BiblioCraft, v1.5.2.
We have another crash log, unrelated to your mod:

Looks like the same problem but with a sign and chest this time. Honestly, if your crashing cause of pixelmon and mcpc enough to be calling it a "plague" I'd recommend getting rid of one of them untill the issues are resolved.
I guess the issue isn't with Bibcraft - Sorry for the troubles. As for removing pixelmon - it's the whole reason the mods so popular I can't simply remove it, as for a fix - MCPC is remaining quiet on the matter and Pixelmon says its not on their end. So not much I can do
For the Thaumonomicon on the desk: Yes (although you need to open it by hand to update it if you researched anything new)
For the woods: No as TC4 has no wooden slabs
Render crash when trying to log into server. An oak desk was placed before hand and crashed as soon as it was placed in the world. http://pastebin.com/MRFMEAa6
Fake player crash in http://pastebin.com/8jVJM3dt
both players have forge 1.6.4 build 952. the only build that can run Bibliocraft without crashing on load (that is without any bibliocraft items in the area.)
No worlds are corrupted. they still run normally. its just the client that crashes, the server run as normal.
This did not happen with BiblioCraft 1.5.1.
http://pastebin.com/8SjTLcAt
That looks like the same type of error that happened with the BiblioCraft stuff, but only with a vanilla sign and vanilla chest. It's like the chest block was removed without removing the tile entity and a sign was placed in the same space so when the sign looks for its tile entity it finds a chest tile entity and crashes. I would guess the BiblioCraft crash is caused by the same procedure which must be related to some other mod that gives players control over moving/removing blocks. That's my best guess anyway.
I can toss a few bucks in the pot... BTW, I highly recommend the LED-backlit monitors from Asus. They are awesomely good, rel;iable, and moderately priced.
Twilight Oaks
yield oak wood, but there's also canopy trees, mangroves, and darkwood trees that have their own woods, plus towerwood which is found only in structures, not in trees. (I think I'm remembering them all.)Actually, I take that back, twilight oaks yield their own twilight oak logs, but the logs turn into normal oak planks.

I also had to set up a fake base Minecraft class, and potentially might have a similar problem, but in my case it will only be seen, and briefly, by internal vanilla routines unless running multithreaded. The proper fix, which I may have to do someday, is to write a wrapper class that passes all the calls onto the "real" class except the ones you need to change. It's a lot of work for some vanilla Minecraft classes, which are sometimes demi-god classes, especially EntityPlayer and World.
