Alternative power sources are also planned, but my crystal ball doesn't have enough resolution to tell whether these will be in the same or different releases.
Awesome mod. It is by far my favorite.
Is there any chance of adding the sound effect just before the gate opens? The one when all chevrons are locked and encoded.
A random cool idea would be ring transporters as a secret entrance to an underground base or home, but I know that is a lot of work.

Ring transporter would actually be pretty cool, though some serious restrictions would need to be put in place in order to not negate the gates.
Couple ideas:
Vertacal transport only.
Distance restricted to loaded chunks.
hi. I had this mod to 1.5.1 and 1.5.2, but can you please update to 1.6.2? Or does the 1.5.2 version work on 1.6.2? some mods for 1.5.2 works on 1.6.2 without have been updated from 1.5.2 to 1.6.2.
Umm no mod 1.5.2 mod should work straight out for 1.6.2 since they use a different file structure in 1.6.2 then in 1.5.2
Would it be possible to have the chunkloading capabilities of the stargates more controllable in the configs? The server I play/moderate has chunkloading rules and these are able to override them with the 3x3 loading. Maybe a turn off completely option if that's possible?
I think there is a comment that says it already is compatible, you just have to make the world and set up a stargate in that world first before it will work.
I haven't tried it with Mystcraft myself yet, but from what I hear, it does work at least some of the time.
As for Multiverse, I've heard that there is some problem with multiple worlds on Bukkit servers, but I don't know enough about Bukkit to address this.
the downside is that Mystcraft worlds eventually become unstable the more you explore in them
No, as far as I know, stability depends only on what combination of pages you put in the book, not how much you explore. I don't think that putting stargates or other mod items in a world should affect stability either.
don't know if there are any plans but could you maybe make it ic2 compatible? So for example you can power the gates with eu (maybe even with mj from bc) so it needs only 25% naquadah as fuel?
I think I just found a new favorite mod! I'm a hardcore Stargate fan and this is almost perfect! I don't mind the canonical differences since I understand why most of them exist. I cannot wait for 1.6.2 support so I can put SG craft on my MP server.
Hello does any one know how to increase the range of the gates? atm the limit seems to be about 30k blocks out from what i can tell then you get told "coordinates out of stargate range" is there anyway to increase it?
I have to say though, the DHD could use some better GUI/models and going through the wrong end of a gate should kill you. That whooshing thing should also destroy anything in it's path.
Is there a time estimate for this to work with 1.6.2? I would love to check it out! I love Star gate and think this would be awesome to step through our own hehe
Anyway.. Sounds great but haven't been able to try it out
I hope to eventually expand the range somewhat using 8 and 9 chevron addresses.
So if there's a limit on distance, is there also a limit on how many dimensions there can be linked to? When I was testing with mods that add dimensions with negative numbers, Galacticraft, it said dimension unreachable. Maybe in addition to letters, you could also include numbers as well? That should increase the range significantly I would think.
I can't tell you what numbers to use to make it exactly as rare as diamonds, but decreasing the "odds" values and/or increasing the "max" values will give you more.
I haven't been able to find any of the villagers either. Do they only spawn in certain biomes or do I need to breed them?
No, they should spawn anywhere that any other villager can spawn. Breeding should work too.
In testing, minecarts don't seem to reappear on the other side of a gate. Not sure what's up with that.
That's strange, I'll check it out.
So if there's a limit on distance, is there also a limit on how many dimensions there can be linked to?
Yes, the range of dimension IDs is currently -1 to 674. I didn't know there were mods using negative dimension numbers, or I would have made the range more symmetrical. I'll do something about that when I revamp the addressing system.
Any plans in the near-future to add different fueling possibilities? Would love to run my stargates on IC2 power, personally.
Also the Naquadah ore block is slightly darker than regular stone.
Now I feel like I'm just being nit-picky. Sorry about that.
I just keep finding little things. Though this one might not be your problem. When using Ichun's Gravity Gun mod to pick up an entity, taking that entity and pushing it through a gate to another dimension and then you go through yourself, it duplicates that entity on the other side, and spawns a nether portal. This works with blocks as well. If you push the entity through first, it is sent to the other side of the gate, but the gravity gun is still technically holding it. So when you go through, you appear with that item duplicated. Then for some random reason a nether portal spawns. Everything seems to work fine with Mystcraft portals. Perhaps you could get into contact with XCompWiz or Ichun to see how this duplication bug is happening?

You wouldn't believe how long it took me to find a mod like this. Kudos to you. As for feedback, there's just a couple things I noticed. First off, the mod has a beef with buildcraft. There's an ID conflict that keeps popping up with naquadah and buildcraft, and it's a bit odd finding out that you're stargate was being powered by pipes all along. Second, the stargate seems to be blind to the placement of DHDs, and whenever I want to put one in front of it, more then say two blocks away, I always have to make a chain of DHDs, placing and removing repeatedly untill it recognizes it. Also with DHDs, according to canon the DHD is the thing that supplies power to the stargate, so external powering (such as naquadah) is only necessary when a DHD is not preset. Would this be possible to replicate in the game, like maybe having the control crystal require/supply power? If not, can you make a creative replacement to using naquadah to power the gates?

ID conflicts are supposed to be resolved by the user. That's why config files exist...

Yes, this is on my list of things to do.

Thanks for your hard work Greg!

There are some config options that I don't seem to have documented yet:
####################
# naquadah
####################
naquadah {
I:genIsolatedOdds=8
I:genUnderLavaOdds=4
I:maxIsolatedNodes=4
I:maxNodesUnderLava=8
}

Can't say for sure, but I'll probably tackle it some time over the next couple of weeks.

Seems a much better teleport system than using mystcraft.
I do NOT go off half cocked! I pull the hammer ALL the way back !
