I keep having an issue when going to a mystcraft world. Is it possible to turn off the Ore Generator? The server seems to hang, generating naquadah for thousands of blocks in any direction. Endless console entries like:
[INFO] NaquadahOreWorldGen: generating randomly at (-224, 58, 328)
CPU usage maxes and ram jumps to 8 gigs on the server. Is there a line I can add to the config to disable the ore generator in new chunks? Would solve my problem.
Other than that works flawlessly with FTB ultimate. Just wish you could macerate/pulverize/industrial grind naquadah
It's a shame you couldn't just pool resources with LordFokas and his Stargate Tech Mod. At the moment I'm more keeping my eye on his than yours as his is a little more accurate to lore details and has more interesting gameplay features in acquiring the tech to build stargates. But kudos for having working gates! It definitely looks cool.
a couple questions. do the stargates spawn naturally in another dimension or do they need to be crafted? i ask because i have divine rpg installed. also, can you find stargate addresses randomly in your world? say random monuments with an enscribed address as an idea.mrgreaper i stood to close first time dialing. just installed the mod.. forgot the 5 block distance.. and well.... toast.
I think greg wont do that as lordfokas's stargates are only to different dimensions where as gregs gates can be in the same dimension I personaly think that is a better way of doing it as most servers have people playing in the same dimension but gregs gates can go between dimensions also so is best of both worlds im sure greg will add more of the tech side of things as this mod develops more
Yeah, but I think both can compromise something. I do think gates working in the same dimension is a good idea. Perhaps with a minimal distance of blocks apart to actually function because you can't have two gates too close, according to lore. Which brings me to my biggest problem with this mod, it pretty much ignores all the lore details altogether from the show. First of all, Egyptian hieroglyphics are not the symbols on the stargates. This is really bothering me. But Greg does have some good ideas here. LordFokas also has a lot of good ideas. I really don't think there needs to be two Stargate mods that basically do the same thing. We don't need that kind of competition. I'd rather see one awesome mod with two developers contributing what they do best. It takes the load off and gets more things done quicker in one cohesive vision.
It seems LordFokas has suggested joining forces to Greg. I sincerely hope something comes of this. There are good things both planned and already developed in both mods that I'd love to see in one.
Just a reccomendation, you should really allow the gates to be interfaced with computer craft, and allow custom gate addresses to be set, with longer length, this way users can create dialing computers. (currently I use a plugin for my stargate system, and a computer itnerfaced with a command block to activate the gate(it uses torches as the chevrons, and an ugly obsidian square gate). I would love to be able to switch to your mod, as the texture quality is much better, however before doing so, I would have to be able to write a dialing program in computercraft, so that users could still use the stargate directory.
Hey I love this mod it is so cool but could you first change the name of the stargate control device to a DHD and add an iris? I would love to have and iris and it would be good on a server also if you go through the stargate and the on on the other side has an iris you get killed.
This mod is probably one of my fav's and I was wondering if I could make a minecraft series using it. I would give credit to you if I can use it. Also I can't help but notice when the ring spins the last symbol that locks in is the earth symbol.

They do spawn in certain places in the overworld currently, but not in the Nether or The End. They might spawn in dimensions created by other mods, depending on what their world generation does.
There is not yet any way of finding out their addresses without travelling there by other means first, though. I'd like to find a way to do that, but there are technical difficulties.
Using latest sgcraft version, worldgen mostly works fine until SGcraft starts trying to generate pyramid features. As soon as it does, worldgen grinds to a screeching halt and causes all sorts of manners of problems.
Can you send me the world seed of a world that exhibits this problem?
I am also experiencing this.

Seems like a awesome mod though.
Certainly. That would be great!
