you willomg epic mod cant wait to see what l add in the future updates i will be sure to bookmark your thread and keep checking up on it man keep up the awesome work
Just a suggestion:
I for myself would make the narquadah ore quite rare.
Also I suggest to consider to power the star gates with commom power from some tech mods. It would be ok if they need a good amount of power, for example IC2 High Voltage and somewhat between 50,000 and 250,000 EU per jump or similar power from BuildCraft...
Also the Narquadah generators should have a power output similar to a small nuclear reactor.
And yes, just to power a star gate a Narquadah generator delivers power for a very long time usually (more hundred years) except you want to jump to another galaxy...
So I would suggest that one Narquadah Ingot delivers power for at least an amount of 100 jumps or more until it depletes.
Oh, and don't forget to close an open gate after a maximum of 38 min!
Maybe something of that might be useful for you...
When the star gate locks in a chevron, the ring should go the opposite direction it was going. For example, if it is going clockwise then it should go counterclockwise after it locks.
Actually, the gate works almost completely the show(in terms of chevron-locking), as if you look at the dialing process, you see that the ring moves all of the symbols in order of the dialing, and thus goes clockwise or counter-clockwise, according to whichever turning mechanism the symbol is closest to(Although the chevron-locking is a mite off, so it'll lock in-between two symbols at times.)

I'm boring, so don't get yer hopes up! You can also suggest videos for me if you want, and I will quite possibly do them.
my bigest argument wasent that the DHD uses a internal naquadah generator it may very well my point is that the power source would last thousands of years and a gate would not consume anywhere near a whole piece of naquadah dialing. considering the relitivly rarety in both the mod and the show if this was the case the gate system would have exhausted it's fuel system in only a few years and be rendered inert as there would be no naquadah left in the galaxy

Agreed. There are plenty of reasons to still use the mod though =)
I think the plan is to make it so gate parts must be found in the world. At that point Naquadah could be rare, like iridium (2x rare IMO), and one naquadah brick last a long time as was mentioned before, something like 100 uses. But we'll only know once the mod developer releases updates =) I didn't see any specific design docs on the mods webpage.
I think a config option to make gates use naquadah or not might be another good solution. That way people who wan't to balance it with IC2 or other mods can, and those who want authenticity can make the gates consume power like the show does.
The gate itself is just a giant battery that can be charged by many external power sources included solar heat, quantum singularities, etc.
So would make more sense that the Naquadah in the gate is locked and shows a charge meter under the item, like the durability on a pickaxe. And have the DHD with the power source.
If you want to dial the gate without a DHD and with ComputerCraft then have the gate require power from IC2 etc.
My only complaint with this is being able to travel through incoming wormholes. If it can't be done, then I get it, but i really want that to be a thing.

There once was a wise man out with tnt. the creepers swarmed in with numbers unseen. he placed it and armed it with his trusty redstone. now, to this day, creepers leave steve alone.
Your mod is absolutely amazing, possibly my favorite mod. I love how it works between dimensions and the animation is great, I even built a semi-accurate SGC to put around a stargate. Please keep up with the updates, I want to keep using this mod on future versions of minecraft.
i put the stargate into voltz and am making 'MC-1' videos (hahaha) about the stargate and fighting the big bad guys the withers. i only have two episodes though. Look up Panache Tomfool if you want to see them.
The Stargate actually has 9 Chevrons not 7, 7 are used to travel in one galaxy used in SG-1. 8 Chevrons are used in SG-A and go between galaxy's and 9 chevrons are used in Stargate Destiny
Sounds good.

I agree I'de like to see the mod go this way.
Oh yeah, agreed, would be sweet ;p

Maybe i could help update the mod, and by update, i mean make it compatible with minecraft 1.5...

I'm having the same issue too with the Naquadah Ore and Alloy blocks.
