Since day one of taking over this project after the last modder gave me the OK to do so, I've seen a lot of folks refer to it as being "OP" or "Over Powered." Personally, for my style of playing this game, it's just very convenient for me in that it allows me to quickly and easily clear large areas of the map for various purposes. Still, I've been considering a few changes to its functionality in order to both calm the shouts of "OP!" as well as allow it to remain a convenient tool.
* Minimum fuel required to fire the laser increased (5 items? 10? Not even sure how to do it yet)
* Default range changed from 32 to 16 (can still be over-ridden in the config)
* Coal fuel will clear a 2x1x32 path (aka something you can walk through instead of just peeking your head in)
* Releasing a minimally customizable version that is lower powered alongside the classic version.
Anyhow, I'm always open to suggestions, so let me know. I've got a bunch of ideas I'm working on as far as adding special effects and whatnot beyond the basic functionality, but for now it is what it is.
I downloaded the mod but I can't get into the config file for some reason. What program should I use to get into it and edit it?
Once you start the game with the mod active, the config file should be created under the "config" folder, ex:
C:\Users\JohnSmith\AppData\Roaming\.minecraft\config\PML2.cfg (replace JohnSmith with your actual user name).
My thoughts exactly, I managed to accomplish just that accidentally while working on the rewrite, but part of the fun of this game IMHO is running around and collecting stuff. I used to enjoy a mod that was a sort of drill that you could set up and have it fill a nearby chest, it was convenient in a 'set it and forget it' aspect but I still want to have some mining involved in the usage of this mod.

I have the config file but the only issue is that I don't know what program to use to open it and edit it. At first it made me download a program off the internet for me to open .cfg files. The only problem is that the program I got allows me to open and see it but I can't edit it. So what program should I use? Thanks in advance
I updated this mod yesterday, changed a few things and added some others...
The fuel requirements have changed, where it used to be coal, redstone, and gold - it's now powered by redstone, gold, and diamonds. I did this as a result of a suggestion I liked, I'm still playing it out to see if it works well - and welcome any opinions on the change. This should help to alleviate some of the 'OP' complaints I think.
I've also been working to add some sort of effects to the function of the laser... I saw a youtube video awhile back where someone actually managed to get some sort of 'laser beam' to show up when it was fired (the original Yiab mod) but as of yet I haven't quite gotten there. I mirrored the particle effect of 'lava' so that when fired, the PML2 will actually look like its burning through the blocks. I also added a sound effect to it, a tweak to the 'breath' sound for now. I had been trying to use my own laser sound but can't quite pin down how to get it working yet... That's still a work in progress.
I'm also hoping to gain some ground on making the mod configurable while playing, but I'm still a novice java coder and unless I can get some good pointers via Google i'm buried in trial & error hell.
instead of more intensive recources it should take time like 1 block per second when digging out the shaft
that wont make it that op and if using the pickaxe fuel then have it dig out the shaft with the speed of the pickaxe and maybe enchants too
I've never actually played Minecraft any way other than solo... If enough people ask for it to be universal (if that means single/multi) I'll look into making it so.

Cheers, Thujone.
I think you should change the 1,1,32 should be redstone, 3,3,32 should be gold, and the 5,5,32 should be a diamond
There's a link to the download in the OP.
I've still got the files, I'll add a link for the old 1.4.7 version to the OP for you.
that would just make things too easy

That's a really good idea! Seems like a reasonable escalation of the fuels.

also is it universal
SMP/LAN/SSP?
Is there any chance you can maybe work on getting it that way ? even if the newest server version is for 1.5.2 (i will be there sooner or later)
thanks for keeping the mod going.
na Lapis Lazuli 5x5...
No english.
There's a link to the last 1.4.7 version in the OP.

I have the Mod for 1.4.7 Thanks.
I was hoping you would make it for server usage. (universal)
