I have a idea for a new weapon. Is the spear (1Tier) an the Pilum (2Tier). ((its a idea. No a obligation))
Please give more information, and read the suggestion guideline. http://pastebin.com/SfL2effA
You are not giving enough information, how it is crafted, what it will do, special ability etc, etc
Remember to give as much info as possible on what it does!
As acid9999 said, there should be a Spears... Lemme think about it...
Spears:
-Crafted with 2 Though Tool Rods, 1 Spear Head and 1 Though Binding.
-The spear have more reach than other weapons, but same damage and durability as the Battleaxe.
-Special Ability: Stab.
The Stab is an Middle-Range hability. Just like a bow, as more it charges, more is its damage. The Stab range is up to 3 blocks longer as the common attack, and when fully charged, it can deal double of the Spear's common attack damage, but it takes double as the bow to charge. (The Stab also have the knockback of a Battleaxe, and its armor-piercing)
-Stabbing will give the player SLOWNESS stat for 3 seconds.
Javelins:
-Crafted with 2 Tool Rods, 1 Binding and 1 Spear Head.
-Same reach as the spear
-Durability of a knife
-Damage of a Broadsword
-Special Ability: Throw. Yeah. Thats it. Just like the knife.
Are you sure they are using a full ingot's worth? (A nifty way of testing is by smelting 1(one) ore, fill an ingot cast, then fill a rod cast, then see what happens if you fill another ingot cast. The second time you fill the ingot cast, it should fill it partially and never turn into an ingot.)
What version are you running?
pretty sure it was. when i noticed this, i was running ... well, an older version. (i deleted the old one when i updated, derp)
i'll test this later in my test world

does this still fall under maintenance for 1.5? because that would be really nice. kind of was missing a mouseover display like that. maybe also for the lava level in millibuckets.
the smeltery gui has been a little weird, pretty much since the beginnig of the mod. especially when it comes to updating fluid levels. it doesnt seem as smooth as in xycraft or railcraft tanks, for example.

I posted a question about the GregTech exploit message Tinker's Construct gives on the Industrial Craft forum asking if it was possible to have GregTech adjust it's recipes as suggested by the Tinker's Construct message.
Here's GregoriousT's response:
That is not a GregTech exploit. It is 100% Tinkers Construct, and even happens on nonore vanilla smelting Recipes! I think I will detect Tinkers Construct and give out a Warning about the fact that Fortune shouldn't work on anything else than ORES. mDiyo didn't get that simple fact (even after me explaining it long and wide to him) and just added that stupid Message to "justify" his exploit. He even PMed me and I told him to not apply Fortune on anything else than Ores. The result was him telling me that "smelting" (what is definetly NOT Fortune, and I talked about Fortune and NOT SMELTING) should also work on regular Blocks like Stone or similar. So in the end mDiyo royally ed up the already overpowered Fortune Effect, and I won't do anything about that. Bug him, send him a Quote of what I have just said, get him to finally get rid of the "Fortune+Smelting+EverythingOtherThanOres" Exploit. He just ignores what I tell him.
I bet people will soon come to me and start complaining about EE being exploity in combination with GregTech. That is just ridiculous.
So where does that leave us? Two mods warning players about the other mod's "exploits"? That doesn't sound like something anyone would want.
Does Greg's explanation that only ores should have fortune applied to them make sense? If I look at how vanilla Minecraft and other mods work then it does a little to me. Although I will admit I'm not a Tinker's Construct verteran so please educate me if I'm wrong.
If at all possible I would prefer to use both Tinker's Construct and GregTech. But if this ends up as a war between mods then hard choices will have to be made. Which would really suck because both mods are awesome if you ask me and I don't want to leave out either one of them.

it's both easy... TC just smelt + fortune everything it can so on this side its TC fault on the other hand, greg added the block -> ingot smelting recipes so gregs fault.
Solution: Add a config blacklist for the smelting effect and maybe fortune -> easypeasy.
Regarding Gregtech, the exploit is suggested to be GregTech for two reasons:
1. The cross-mod exploit only happens with GregTech and TConstruct installed.
2. Recipes can be reversed in a variety of ways (crafting, macerator) and not just in the furnace.
Greg's "fix" makes sense if you think that auto-smelt+fortune is only for a pickaxe. I find it a great way to get charcoal or a bunch of clay bricks.
Greg has never directly contacted me. The first message I ever saw from Greg about TConstruct was how electric tools were breaking non-IC2 armor and no one should use my mod at all. There has been some indirect contact since, but nothing's come from it.
The message isn't there to justify my actions. It's there to stop people from reporting an expolit they found every day or so. A blacklist is a possibility... perhaps. It goes against the idea of being able to smelt everything though. Some people have hundreds of items in their reverse-smelting config.
If Greg wants to talk, I'm available on the MC forums or on IRC.
DryWaterz:Attributes is what I'm waiting for, yes.
The latest 1.5 download does have the tooltips, yes.
nice!
by the way, since the 1.6 update to minecraft adds the chance to spawn 1 to 4 additional zombies, upon damaging a zombie. has anyone else planned to abuse this with concecrated and graveyard soil for a mass spawner build?^^
Salute to you mDiyo for this amazing mod! Really, with Natura these mod works best. I love to be able to 'tinker' my tools! Creativity. I love it... Though I'm suck either redstone logic.
About mDiyo profile pic. It remind me of 3 games:
-Ralt from Pokemon
-Pickaxe from minecraft
-Ralt's charming smile and it eyes remind me of one of harvest moon Runes factory 3 character, Raven. Lol

I believe it is gardivoire, not ralts. Anyways, that pic does always bring back memories of Wally...
gsgrego: The rapier has the highest damage against armored foes. Heck, it's as good as the Longsword against unarmored foes in terms of raw damage.
Except that is not what I am experiencing anymore and I do not believe they are working correctly atm. Maybe spiny isn't applying to them but atm I can kill armored or unarmored ten times faster with a long sword than a rapier.
I will test it later but the last time I had a rapier with spiny I was getting 5+ hits on cows.
Regarding the auto-smelt + fortune exploit with GT, I'd like to note that the issue occurs with any block that can be smelted into its component items.
Examples I found using the 152wgt pack:
Anvil (all damage levels)
Iron Door
Heavy/Light Weighted Pressure Plates
Cauldron
Iron Furnace
Machine Block
Upon further inspection... all of those recipes ended up being from GregTech. However, the mechanic of smelting an item into its component parts is not something Greg or any other modder should not be able to include in their mod. Greg can't do anything on his end without completely disabling one of his mod's features, but you can allow the two mechanics to coexist peacefully if you add blacklist support. You could even just create an empty blacklist that other mod authors could easily add their exploitable smelting recipes to, that way it's not on you to find every exploit from every mod and blacklist it.
Also I'd like to report an odd behavior with autosmelt that isn't an exploit. Breaking clay with autosmelt generates only a single brick (item), instead of the 4 you would get by smelting the 4 clay (item) that usually drop. Similarly, with fortune added, it ends up being 1-4 bricks.

It also works with iron blocks and gold blocks which are vanilla blocks. And it also works with steel blocks which are from Railcraft. They only drop ingots because GregTech is installed of course. But the more I look into this, the more I'm starting to agree that the best solution would be to only allow the fortune/luck modifiers to work on ores and nothing but ores. That's the only way I see on how you can prevent exploits like this.
As long as you can get more then 9 ingots from a block due to the fortune attribute, you will be able to have infinite resources. Right now GregTech is the only mod that adds these recipes as far as I know. But what if other mods like Railcraft, Buildcraft of maybe some Chickenbones mod starts dong that as well?
Any mod that add blocks that you can break into ingots with a fortune modified tool will give you infinite resources. Being able to go from 9 ingots to 1 block, and then back to 9 ingots is really convenient. Being able to go from 9 ingots to 1 block, and then to 27 ingots is an exploit.
Could you please change the fortune modifier's behavior to only work on ores?

does this still fall under maintenance for 1.5? because that would be really nice. kind of was missing a mouseover display like that. maybe also for the lava level in millibuckets.
the smeltery gui has been a little weird, pretty much since the beginnig of the mod. especially when it comes to updating fluid levels. it doesnt seem as smooth as in xycraft or railcraft tanks, for example.
nice paper pan by the way
this makes me happy.
Here's GregoriousT's response:

Solution: Add a config blacklist for the smelting effect and maybe fortune -> easypeasy.
DryWaterz: Attributes is what I'm waiting for, yes.
RichardJCox: Floating vines, that's odd. I'll investigate.
gsgrego: The rapier has the highest damage against armored foes. Heck, it's as good as the Longsword against unarmored foes in terms of raw damage.
VitrifyA: That doesn't appear to be a TConstruct error.
c_death: It appears that the data on your tool has been corrupted or lost.
4o66: Future content! There will be a polishing stone some time later.
NanoMinerPL: Glowstone aggregators are unfinished. I expect they would be quite buggy.
IStoneI: The latest 1.5 download does have the tooltips, yes.
nice!
by the way, since the 1.6 update to minecraft adds the chance to spawn 1 to 4 additional zombies, upon damaging a zombie. has anyone else planned to abuse this with concecrated and graveyard soil for a mass spawner build?^^
(or any kind of mob healing/damaging mechanic).
