i would like to apologize for my earlier post. it was an extremely poorly designed attempt to get more direct communication between both sides of this issue. I will not ask for you to forgive me at all for it.
feel free to come to our IRC chanel on esper #tinkersconstruct to speak to us about this issue, and come up with a solution to this issue that will be beneficial to everyone involved.
I have kind of a strange issue that I haven't seen talked about a lot. I know that there has been a lot of work to get the smeltry where it's wanted to be. But for some reason any time I use anything above 1.5 the smeltry doesn't seem to work for me. Once constructed, the flame on the controller doesn't come on, and I can't load anything into the UI. If I downgrade to 1.4.7, it starts working, and not again with an upgrade. I've knocked out various blocks to see if it would "reset" itself, and looked over the console to see if I could see anything strange, but nothing. I know there's a possibility it's conflicting with a mod, but I was hoping someone else might have an idea before I took the 2+ hours running each mod in succession. I'm not sure if I'm missing deleting something if I move past 1.5 or something like that. Any ideas would be helpful.
EDIT: Since I didn't think to do it before I posted this, I ran a build with the mod by itself and NEI, and it still didn't work. Using 1.5.0d6 and forge build #930.
I have a bug report for TConstruct 1.6.4_1.5.0d6, and before someone says that this is the wrong place for this post this is on the first page "Bugs for 1.6.2 should be reported on here." and there here has no link attached to it. The bug it with the smeltery which is not showing how much liquid is in it and its texture for liquids in it is... weird...
Yaay, now we will start seeing things actually relevant to this mod in its own thread!
...Right?
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
Also, I've flipped shovel textures for Tinker's Construct and ExtraTiC for a more realistic-looking animation, check here: http://www.minecraft...hovel-textures/
So...is the smeltery supposed to passively consume lava when not doing anything, or is that a bug? Lava slowly drains out of the tank even when there's nothing in the smeltery, in around 150mB increments.
So...is the smeltery supposed to passively consume lava when not doing anything, or is that a bug? Lava slowly drains out of the tank even when there's nothing in the smeltery, in around 150mB increments.
It's currently a bug. The smeltery has gotten hungrier than expected with the last few dev updates, but attempts are being made to satiate it.
My staff members found out the issue while building for halloween. They put a scarecrow item inside the drawbridge and whenever they activated it, it crashed. Now we can't get into the crash chunk without crashing ourselves to remove the block. Please provide a fix for it in 1.5.2 >_<
What was it and what mod, by the way 1.5.2 isn't supported unless it works in 1.6
I tried to downgrade to the not-dev version because of not being able to cast metals (can't use the faucet to start the draining O_o).
Got this crash report, which is apparently a crash-server rather than client, on trying to load the world save. Was playing single player.

Maybe it crashed because I had a smeltery already built? EDIT: Seems it was exactly that. I destroyed the smeltery and was able to downgrade without crash. :>
I actually came here to see if the faucet not working was a thing and saw some others post about it.
I'm new to this mod though, so I want to make sure I built the smeltery right. I know I have the shape right, but i'm just not sure if drains are allowed to be on the second level with the controller and lava or if they have to be in the center of a side (3rd block in) or can be anywhere but the bottom 3x3. I'm fairly sure my drain is okay on the bottom level in the middle of the wall, but the fact that it doesn't work makes me confused about why it isn't draining when the multiblock structure is working.
I tried a number of combinations, moving blocks around and trying to reset the structure. Also restarted minecraft (it only updated the fluid level display in the controller, showing full (~3.5 buckets worth) instead of its previous empty-despite-there-being-liquid-in-there...). I just can't make any kind of cast or even start to. D: Tried making a blank cast, pickaxe cast making/filling, ingot cast making/filling, a block, tried emptying the tank with just a bucket, powering the block with redstone/lever... Nothing makes it go. ><; I do have only aluminum brass in the tank.
Well these are some of the currently known bugs myself and my friend have noticed
1) The obvious controller not seeing the rest of the Smeltery and having to break and replace it.
2)The Controller sometimes doesn't recognize the Searing Window or Searing Glass as a valid block and won't complete the level if those are included in it's construction.
3) Lava consumption, it is constant even when there isn't anything added in. My guess is it is detecting the air blocks and trying to smelt them?
4)The liquid metals seem to visually spaz out and will flicker in and out of the floor of the Smeltery, and it only seems to cover a few blocks or more depending on how full the liquid would be. (No Optifine installed)
5)The Controller will seem to forget how much liquid metal the Smeltery has via the GUI (Luckily I remember how much I put in)
Love the mod, but hate them blue slime fellas. They spawn way too much, everywhere, (if the server i'm playing on hasn't adjusted the spawn rate) not to mention I seem to have had a streak of King Slimes spawning on my first night. Ah well, its a small price to pay for beheading zombies with a paper cleaver.

I have exactly the same problems. Thought many of these were caused by OptiFine, though.
EDIT: Is the Stonebound bonus dependent on the tool's base speed? I want to make a hammer but I don't know if it would be better to make it full Ardite or with Paper plates.
Greetings and salutations! I could use a hand with something dear gents. I have the newest stable version running on a server with several friends. However, earlier in the day, my server was struck with a rather fatal error. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

*Note that I may not know what I'm talking about*
The error looks like the same one I got when I was running the dev version and tried to downgrade to the stable one. Did your server try to do that?
If so, the way I fixed it was to use the dev version again and get rid of all smelteries, then downgrade again.
If this isn't the case, I'm not sure what it is, sorry. D:
To everyone asking for updates or support on 1.5.2: You will be reported for the same reason as people asking for updates to 1.7. This is against forum rules. Please stop.
SatsumaBenji: You have an item ID conflict with additional pipes. Change the config for it.
DeathWave: The gui in the dev versions are broken. Really, really broken.
EmberQuill: Definitely a bug. The Smeltery is only supposed to eat lava when it's working.
minecraftnut: Blue slimes only spawn on slime islands and cannot be turned off anymore.
moonra: Stonebound is a bonus to the base speed. It's logarithmic in scale and averaged over the tool. More ardite means more stonebound.
Alldares: The stable version still has some of the Smeltery changes? Dangit! >.<
Nolorwolf: Battlegear hardcodes how torches are handled. It's being worked on, but it's no small oversight.

5)The Controller will seem to forget how much liquid metal the Smeltery has via the GUI (Luckily I remember how much I put in)
I have exactly the same problems. Thought many of these were caused by OptiFine, though.
EDIT: Is the Stonebound bonus dependent on the tool's base speed? I want to make a hammer but I don't know if it would be better to make it full Ardite or with Paper plates.
// Don't be sad. I'll do better next time, I promise!

it can be fixed by changing something in the configuration of your mod?
Sorry for bad English
Thanks 0/
*Note that I may not know what I'm talking about*
The error looks like the same one I got when I was running the dev version and tried to downgrade to the stable one. Did your server try to do that?
If so, the way I fixed it was to use the dev version again and get rid of all smelteries, then downgrade again.
If this isn't the case, I'm not sure what it is, sorry. D:
FatBobTheSlob: O_o
