Great mod! When I was walking around a stronghold, around some stairs (made from slabs) the lantern would turn off. If i walked away from the stairs it would turn on again. If i walked back to the stairs, it would turn off. Even after I destroyed the stairs, it would still turn off. Using 1.6.2 and i'm pretty sure the newest 1.6.2 lantern mod you have released. Any easy fix for this?
This should be fixed in the newest version. Sorry, I do not create fixes for old MC versions.
Hey, I did a Mod Spotlight for this mod the other week. Hopefully I did a good job at covering the features. Let me know if I got anything wrong so I can correct in annotations.
If you are using Netty packet system you should leave it and change to Simple Network Wrapper.
Much more easier to use and its really compact.
Or you have to use the channels provided by Forge if you stay with Netty.

Hello! If possible, in your next release could you add support for the Colored Lights Mod please? It has an API for mod devs to assign a color to their light sources, and I thought it'd look neat with a nice, warm yellow glow to it. Thank you for your time!
Just popping in to say I started to work on version 1.8. I must say that it is needed to rework A LOT of the code for this update, but despair not, I actually have it almost done! So stay tuned!
Hm! I forgot about this whole lantern thing. I like the 3D model and hotbar functionality a lot. Do you think it would be possible to make it render on the player's hip when it's in their hotbar providing light, but not equipped? That could be interesting if the game would allow it
Also, sorry for asking you here, but do you plan on doing any more work on the cave-gen mod? I see you're relatively active with your other work but haven't updated us on Cave-gen.

I'm not sure about the lantern at the hip, but I afraid not. Currently, the whole 3D item thing does not work in 1.8 for me.
Cave-Gen, well I'm not sure. I actually partially succeeded in updating it for 1.7.10 - Things I did not fix were packets, commands and worldgenerator, which will need to be rewritten from scratch. Then, I downloaded forge 1.8 to update my other mods, hoping the update will be smooth. But 1.8 brought so much trouble I afraid I will not be able to update Cave-Gen in any near future, sorry

I also took a look at the Colored lights API and I will probably not add support for Colored lights now. The reason is that there is no simple way to make it work both with and without Colored lights. I could use some hacky solutions, but I think it will be better to wait till the API is improved. I was also experimenting with some possible upgrades for the algorithm, but in the end keeping it as it is, is for the best (well, besides the little fix ). Oh, and I also have almost finished version for 1.8. Alas, Forge for 1.8 is still not in the shape I would wish, and most of the changes gave me really hard time to make, so I decided that since I have lived through my exams now, I will not torture myself with current 1.8 and wait for more stable release.
Anyway, if you would find any bug with the mod or you have some questions, do not hesitate to post here

I was having preformance trouble with DynamicLights but this mod is fast!
I was thinking, the way you made it, and I was wondering about AutoTorch placing.. I think an invisible torch could be placed and removed as we move around; just a thought, your mode works well already.
oh, and I use several game hardeners like IguanaTweaks, HungerOverhaul and Enviromine;
so I tought if the lantern could require refueling after a certain amount of game time ticks?
ok, glow stone is permanent; so may be the refueling and light level could be based on the fuel the lantern carries!
