My friends and I are setting up for the new Tekkit server launch. This mod, as I'm sure you already know, is part of that pack. I would like to ask, what type of config limitations or special handling for this mod you would recommend for a large server to have in place?
I am working on the 'server friendly update' right now, should fix most of the issues that servers could encounter, so see the OP for details.
ANY OTHER suggestions from anybody are welcome.
And yea, unique biomes are on the way, along with a fix for the reaaaaly stupid limbo crash bug.
Also, I need to mention this, said friend freaked out while in a dimension because apparently Night Vision potions in dimensions causes the screen to go completely black instead of letting it be easier to see. Even when all of the FoR blocks were covered with some other block, and the area was lit up by other light sources, it causes the screen to go pitch black, as black as the blocks themselves are. Was this intentional or a bug?

I thought that forge starting with 1.5 (1.5.1?) had version independence for mods, so you didn't have to recompile/re-release for every minor minecraft version.
I heard about that too, but apparently its not the case. Obfuscation changed, so errrybody has to recompile even if nothing actually changed in their mod.
Is it possible to add support so that i can "open" a nether portal in one of the dimension pockets?
I have a door going to a pocket in my house, and i would love to put my netherportal there, to avoid sound etc!
Thats more of a vanilla mechanic, but dont forget you can just make a door that leads to the Nether with a rift sig and not have to bother with nether portals at all!
Is it possible to get animals to go through the doors? I have started working on a base in a door that spawned naturally, I would like to get some cows in there
You can push them through the doors, or ride them on minecarts through the doors. In fact, you can ride a pig riding a minecart through the doors.

You sure about that? I'm pretty sure that is incorrect. I'm using several 1.5.1 mods that used srg-naming in 1.5.2 with no issues.
I have played this mod for a few min. and I already love this mod its great! ive already crashed my minecraft for using the Rift Blade to much! lol Didnt break the world though I just needed to restasrt the game so no big deal... But I really love this mod and Im probably going keep this mod for ever!
Ok, the mobs not spawning issue is still not resolved.
I have 151 with forge 664 and DD RC3-49.
I just ran my world through testing.
All of my ages, as well as the nether, were spawning hostile mobs.
The overworld was not.
When I removed DD, the overworld started spawning again.
When I put DD back, the overworld was still spawning mobs.Additional: I came across a section of limbo where there was no "teleport you home liquid". I was able to walk down to the bottom, and found a hole into nothingness. Creative mode, walk in, and sure enough, fall to negative Y's.
Fly up, fly to new chunks, and things were just fine.
I don't think I changed any block mappings without realizing it, but I can't imagine anything else that could cause it.Ok, this is not good:

Removing the mod brings spawning back. Putting the mod back leaves spawning on.
But if I have to keep removing it, then all the doors around me will keep going poof.

let me start out by saying I love this mod. I really want it to work with the other 40 mods I love. everytime I walk into an iron dimentional door, I freeze up on the downloading terrain screen. Unless I load up the dimentional doors mod first then add the others to the mods folder after I have shut down a saved minecraft with doors in place. and we all know what removing all mods does to the items collected from said mods in your saved world, they gone. Ive put to much into my backed up save file to start again. a fix on this would be great or if there is some way for me to fix through config. please let me know if it can be fixed and I can get a list of the mods I currently run if this helps. Thanks
Are the wood and iron doors reversed? The OP states that Wood doors take you close to the surface, but iron doors take you further away. This seems to be reversed on my game.

Ok, so, I found a standing stone structure, and went to investigate. There was no door, but it teleported me to a pocket dimension, then made a door. So, I was like, sweet! Then I started experimenting in there. I broke some of the black nothing, and wanted to see how far it went down. After a few, i figured it just went down forever, so I dug beneath me, as all good minecraft players know is best practice.
Apparently, it's not infinite, and I fell into the void and promptly died. I was a little disgruntled at having lost all my stuff, so I respawned, but then it said I had no bed, so i appeared in the abyss. I figured I was stuck, but after running around for a little bit, I found another standing structure, and hoped it may contain a hidden door as well. It did, and it turned out there was a whole warren of doors and pocket dimensions, including a chest I found with some cool stuff in it.
This is also where I found that the wood/iron doors seem to be reversed.
I accidentally went back to the abyss, and since wooden doors don't do anything in the abyss, I ran around until I found a black pool. Not knowing what it was, I cautiously stepped into it, and fell in the ocean in the overworld. Barely reaching the surface before dying, I found that I was 50,000 coords away from my home, and am now taking the long, arduous journey traveling back.
Overall, I hate this mod, I hate the you, and I hate that you are making me play it.

You should just play the Technic Launcher, Big Dig. It's 1.4.7, but has a whole bunch of stuff. Also, there's more to mine.
