Hey I'm new to these forums but just wondering I have the newest version and I went into the pocket dimensions (random ones that have dungeons) on creative and there are no monoliths. Did you remove them? I also am on normal.
Some dungeons have them, some don't. How many have you checked?
Ok, looking into this right now. Can you upload your DD data files? They are in <yourSaveDir>/DimensionalDoors/data. Just the stuff in the data folder, not the region files.
I have a feeling that the DD crash might be a symptom of a different, earlier crash/problem caused by who knows what. That said, the first step is reproducing it reliably.
and TowerOfGlass, I don't suppose that these crashes where preceded by a different crash? This is definitely just a symptom of something else, which could be DD corrupting its own save data just fine, or another mod breaking somewhere. I wasn't able to replicate the world corruption, which makes me think it has a different cause.
The crash happens while the world is loading, so I have no way of telling what might have proceeded it. The other Forge log has a DD error reading JSON data immediately before this, but there are no prior warning messages to tell what might have messed up the JSON data.
I do have a lot of mods -- tracking down the root cause of an intermittent problem is difficult =^p
Hmmm... looking at some older crash logs, it looks like it might be a Thermal Expansion issue. I might try starting a new world (I haven't wanted to do so until I had some idea what was happening, having lost two saves this week) without TE, and see if the problem recurs.
Did anything happen in the play session immediately preceding this problem, though? That's what Steven meant. Did you crash Minecraft doing something else? Did you do anything unusual? For instance, you told me about trying out dd-resetdungeons.

Ah, well, thanks for looking into it .
DD error reading JSON might be a corrupted blacklist file (found in the world-data folder for that save).
I believe a previous poster resolved a similar issue by deleting that particular file.
Well, in this case a good many of his save files are simply blank. That is causing this crash, but something else had to first cause the files to be partially erased/not written.

In both cases, it was with a world I hadn't tried the dd-resetdungeons on. And the crash didn't seem to be related to anything I had been doing during the previous session -- In one case, I was mining (with a vanilla pickaxe) and in the other, I was terraforming (with a vanilla shovel) in preparation for a build.
I had previously had a couple of seemingly unrelated crashes that referenced Thermal Dynamics -- these did NOT occur immediately prior to the crash where I discovered the world was corrupted; there was some successful gaming in between. But since TD did seem to be causing some stability issues with my configuration, and I wasn't using it heavily, I've now tried removing it and creating a new world.
Anyway, it doesn't seem like DD is the cause -- it was just the first mod to get tripped up by the corruption after it occured.
The only other crash I've experienced in recent memory is that I crash whenever there is an explosion close by, which I doubt is related to any mod. (It's puzzling, since my machine has decent enough specs that it shouldn't be locking up because of an explosion -- they didn't used to crash my machine -- but at least it's predictable. And doesn't *seem* to be related to the world-corruption. )
Okay, also do I have to be on survival mode. (Could you show me a picture of what one looks like in the dungeon.
There is a known glitch that they don't spawn if you have a mod for custom mob spawning or something.
If you have it installed try removing it first and trying again.
Also you will know when you see them, trust me, you can see them even without a LoS.
They do show up on Creative, but they don't seem to teleport you on Creative.
Like codbraker0 says -- you'll know them when you see them -- it's very much a "what the heck is that", since you can see the eye through walls. (I'll try to get a screenshot for you after work, if you haven't found one by then.
What other mods do you have, that might affect mob spawning?

Nevermind I found one. I had the custom mob spawner mod on
Yeah, we don't know why, but the custom mob spawning mod seems to want to controll all mob spawning, so it tries to prevent monoliths from spawning, because they're no in it's database... or something.
Also a question, what is a rift?
I know it's not a block, since you can place one over it.
The part of the rift that you see is an invisible block that is flagged as replaceable, like snow or grass. That's only half though- what really matters is the linkData that is attached to it, which is an internal construct that DD uses to keep track of where they point to and what properties they have.
If you destroy a rift, then the linkdata is what regenerates it. A rift that doesn't have any linkdata attached to it doesn't do anything at all.
Oh, it all makes sence now, so when machines try to move the rift they actually succeed, but this causes the rift to loose it's metadata, essentially turning to air, while a new one regenerates in it's place.
But do "empty" rifts interact with normal rifts?
And how does it work inside a door?
Would you be able to add a hardcore version of this where there is only one block thats at lowest point and you cant die in limbo, no hunger, no damage taken. and also make it so its muted so you cant even hear yourself walk...it would be more fun in survival if its almost imposible to get out
Some dungeons have them, some don't. How many have you checked?
Also check to make sure you're not on peaceful?
Lo there Steve! Good to see you around!

Ah, well, thanks for looking into it :).
Actually, Monoliths spawn even in peaceful.

I have checked ALOT.

They look like disembodied red eyes that you can see through the walls of enclosed dungeons. Other than the eye, they are invisible.
