I'd like to know how they're getting those newer versions.
I just assumed that Mark was using their modpack/server to beta test since its a smaller, more controlled environment, but that's just a guess. Their modlist accurately states a newer version of magical crops but the link provided just leads to this thread. I can't find a changelog anywhere so I don't really know what the differences are in the newer versions. The essence sword does lay down free essence torches when you shift-right click now though. That's handy! Oh and there's an essence bow too. It's unbreakable and works with the infinite bow mod so I've been using it a lot lately. I'm not sure if either of those are in the 17g beta.
If you have Twilight Forest installed and have a ton of essence of the wrong type, you can always uncraft it and recraft it into the type you want, at the cost of some XP... this requires Magical Crops of course.

Essence crafted from dusts can already be downconverted. Other essences have no crafting recipe; they only come from plants. If you mean seeds, then yes that is rather useful.
I explicitly meant the ThaumCraft shards, which Magical Crops adds shaped recipes for since you can grow them. An Uncrafting table allows you to use the shaped recipe to uncraft ThaumCraft shards back into the shard essence and essentially recraft them into a different elemental shard. Thaumcraft's usage of essence and shard heavily confuse me too often when I explain stuff like that.

Is it only the "magical fertilizer" that comes with the mod that works for that? Because that seems VERY expensive for what you get in return...
Mod items that accelerate growth ticks, like the watering can, blood magic green grove stuff and thaumcraft lamps of growth, work just fine. Items that apply a bonemeal effect, like the fertilizer, do not work.

The version you see JonBams using is not a public release, its the 1.7.2 in development version of Madpack 2. That being said, it certainly does appear that Magical Crops is fully functioning so I would dare to guess that a public release will be seen shortly. But that's purely my guess. It would appear that the madpack in its various forms gets access to beta builds of magical crops for, presumably, testing and debugging purposes, so it indeed may be a little while till we see it here yet.

Hey I'm wondering if anyone can help me, I've got Feed The Beast Lite 2 installed to which I have added Magical Crops to the pack myself (as well as the chisel mod), but the seeds for tin, copper, ferrous, etc. are not showing their crafting recipes in NEI or craftable at all.
