hello i was wanting to use this mod in a survival series i am doing however i have already started the series and have the world generated so if i were to install this mod would i still be able to get magic essence or would i have to regenerate the entire world and start over
To get essence in a pregenerated world you'll need to troll through tall grass for a while until you get plants that will drop essence dust when you break it. Hope you got lots of bonemeal or some plains lying around! Then again if you go far enough or regenerate just the Nether or a Mod World you might be able to get it without wrecking the main world. Depends on where you have places built at.

One little problem though:
- Magical fertilizer does not work with the fertilizer machine from MFR.

Since we had a base for a MFR / MagicalCrops compatibility patch, I decided to address this, at least temporarily, with a small mod.
It deals with two issues:
Registers all the crops with their correct fertilizer for use in the MFR Fertilizer machine. Magical, soul, and essence crops each use Magical Fertilizer. Standard crops use industrial fertilizer (I believe this includes Forestry's fertilizer as well).
Re-registers standard crops the MFR Planter and Harvester machines. This is done because the internal MagicalCrops compatibility doesn't actually work for them; a quick look through the source seems to indicate that a recent refactor moved the standard crops into a different package, breaking the reflection attempt.
During my testing, I also noticed that there are two 9x Wither Essence recipes: one yielding a Wither Skeleton Heads while the other yields an 3x Bottles of Enchanting. This overlap is probably just an oversight but one that will probably have to be ironed out internally.
I've been testing Magical Crops with Thaumcraft Golems. The golems will not harvest Essence crops, so far it's the only crop that it has not harvested -- I have not tested all crops but I have tested Ardite, Cobalt, Creeper, Magma Cube, Skeleton, Diamond, Emerald, Iron, Gold, Coal, Nether, and Ender. This is in the BETA6 version.
What is to come is a bit harsh but it is also a bit valid, as someone who has played with this mod in the FTB modpacks I ran into these issues and find an aspect of the mod rather dull. The mod is very nice and I do enjoy it, but there are some aspects that I feel could be changed and improved on to really make this mod more aimed to 'magical crops'.
I would love to see all the seeds be useable in a forestry squeezer for seed oil.
Also make the food more useful, give us a reason to make all the types. Right now there all just used to make magical food, and you can do that with all, or one type, so there's little reason to gather and plant all of the seeds when you can do it all with just one and be done. I have a whole chest full of just these seeds, and there's only really reason to just grow one type. They are all the same aside looks and names. I don't need several stacks of each kind when one kind will do.
The seeds are also -way- to common. With DW20 trying to gather more cotton seeds I end up filling up with all these extra food seeds that I more often then not just throw back to the ground because I get so many of them and because they all do the same thing it becomes a bit 'ehh'..
How about instead of finding them as seeds from tall grass make it so you have to find a wild plant and pick from it to gain the item, and turn that item into the corresponding seed, that would cut down a lot on the shear number of seeds you get.
At the moment as they are, I really only have a farm of 8 plants, as that's all I need, from there I get enough magic food and I only use them when stuck in combat for the regen buff, when not in combat I use normal food and sit and wait for health to regen on its own. Thus any further seeds either get left on the ground or dumped into a chest pumped into a void chest.
There really is no unique use for them, they all are used for the same thing, they are the same aside look and name and are far more common then I'd like.
Oh joy.. MORE seeds clogging up my invitatory. If I could at least use them for seed oil, like what I am trying to do with getting more normal wheat seeds at this point... it be 'alright'. but the fact is...

In the end, the 'ore' side of it is a bit fun, perhaps though a bit easy to get some things. The 'food' side is dull and boring and way to invitatory clogging.
To me, instead of basic foods like chilis and such, this side of the mod could end up being real magic plants you have to explore the world to to find and harvest and make a 'crop' out of that in turn be used with the other ore and magic essences to make those seeds, or be combined with normal food to infused it into 'magic' food.
Lets use this flame infused plant found in the nether to grow a crop that in turn gives us this magic heat infused essence that in turn is joined with blaze rods, strong essence, and seeds to make blaze seeds! We can then take that same heat infused essence and use a bunch around say... bread, and give it a short 30 sec fire resist buff, nice for a quick save from lava!
Or maybe, instead of using normal wheat seeds to infuse, you need the seeds or the produse from these other magic plants to use the essence on, like you need to mix the right plant that can withstand the magic essense being infused with it. So it's not a matter of getting the essense and then a wheat farm. But instead need the item from these other plants and the right kind as well.
Like, instead of fire seeds needing lava buckets, it needs a heat essense from a plant you find that may spawn in the nether, and then them seeds are needed to make say the blaze seeds as they can withstand the essense being infused into them then say... wheat seeds. Then the produse from said heat plant can be used to join with normal foods for a short fire resist buff. Or may be needed for another magic seed essence like for ore or such.
Really turn it into 'magical crops' instead of.. oh look... even more grape seeds... that are the same as all the other seeds... that are used for the same item.

I understand where you are coming from, if you are using the BETA build and you really dislike normal crops, turn them off, there is a config option to turn them all off, that includes them dropping from tall grass.
Normal crops are very popular the moment I took them out I had many requests to re add them. So I did BUT like I said above added a config file for people that don't like them.
Obviously both sides of the mod aren't for everyone, I have been working hard on added different food types in the next build, Stews, juices, Infused Bread a few more meat drops from Sheep and Squid and more food which can be made from the normal food, also will be adding much more.
Give it a chance when the new food comes out, if you still don't like it that is fine, disable it and use the Magical side of things, I don't have plans to make the food more magical, though I am adding SOME magical food e.g. the essence bread.

Did a recent upgrade to the version 1.6.4_3.2.0_BETA_6 & your mod is overwritting another mods ID.
If i change the ID number in your config file of the one causing problems, it doesn't change in the game.
It is one of the standard seeds, Most of the other seeds & blocks will change when you edit the config file & restart the game. but not those in the standard seeds
I am currently on MineFactoryReloaded-2.7.5-352 and using magical_crops_1.6.4_3.2.0_BETA_6 I am not sure if I misunderstood the changelog but for me the only crops the harvester will break are food crops. Could anyone give me any insight into what might be the problem? I am also tried with and without the MFRCompatMagicalCrops-1.6.4-0.2a mod but that didn't seem to help or hinder the situation.

I did notice that the standard crops didn't make it on the new config. I had to disable them.
Since we had a base for a MFR / MagicalCrops compatibility patch, I decided to address this, at least temporarily, with a small mod.
It deals with two issues:

I would love to see all the seeds be useable in a forestry squeezer for seed oil.
Also make the food more useful, give us a reason to make all the types. Right now there all just used to make magical food, and you can do that with all, or one type, so there's little reason to gather and plant all of the seeds when you can do it all with just one and be done. I have a whole chest full of just these seeds, and there's only really reason to just grow one type. They are all the same aside looks and names. I don't need several stacks of each kind when one kind will do.
The seeds are also -way- to common. With DW20 trying to gather more cotton seeds I end up filling up with all these extra food seeds that I more often then not just throw back to the ground because I get so many of them and because they all do the same thing it becomes a bit 'ehh'..
How about instead of finding them as seeds from tall grass make it so you have to find a wild plant and pick from it to gain the item, and turn that item into the corresponding seed, that would cut down a lot on the shear number of seeds you get.
At the moment as they are, I really only have a farm of 8 plants, as that's all I need, from there I get enough magic food and I only use them when stuck in combat for the regen buff, when not in combat I use normal food and sit and wait for health to regen on its own. Thus any further seeds either get left on the ground or dumped into a chest pumped into a void chest.
There really is no unique use for them, they all are used for the same thing, they are the same aside look and name and are far more common then I'd like.
Oh joy.. MORE seeds clogging up my invitatory. If I could at least use them for seed oil, like what I am trying to do with getting more normal wheat seeds at this point... it be 'alright'. but the fact is...

While to some they may like it because they get a verity of different food types, the fact is they are far to common, they all do the same thing, and could very well be joined as one plant type.
In fact, sense this is 'magical crops' why have common food types like corn and such at all? Why not instead have a set of 'magic' themed plants that can be infused with normal food to make magic food or shorter potion effects?
Or make this how you can get some magical essence thats then joined with the normal essence to get seeds to grow?
In the end, the 'ore' side of it is a bit fun, perhaps though a bit easy to get some things. The 'food' side is dull and boring and way to invitatory clogging.
To me, instead of basic foods like chilis and such, this side of the mod could end up being real magic plants you have to explore the world to to find and harvest and make a 'crop' out of that in turn be used with the other ore and magic essences to make those seeds, or be combined with normal food to infused it into 'magic' food.
Lets use this flame infused plant found in the nether to grow a crop that in turn gives us this magic heat infused essence that in turn is joined with blaze rods, strong essence, and seeds to make blaze seeds! We can then take that same heat infused essence and use a bunch around say... bread, and give it a short 30 sec fire resist buff, nice for a quick save from lava!
Or maybe, instead of using normal wheat seeds to infuse, you need the seeds or the produse from these other magic plants to use the essence on, like you need to mix the right plant that can withstand the magic essense being infused with it. So it's not a matter of getting the essense and then a wheat farm. But instead need the item from these other plants and the right kind as well.
Like, instead of fire seeds needing lava buckets, it needs a heat essense from a plant you find that may spawn in the nether, and then them seeds are needed to make say the blaze seeds as they can withstand the essense being infused into them then say... wheat seeds. Then the produse from said heat plant can be used to join with normal foods for a short fire resist buff. Or may be needed for another magic seed essence like for ore or such.
Really turn it into 'magical crops' instead of.. oh look... even more grape seeds... that are the same as all the other seeds... that are used for the same item.
Also makes you have to really work up to get the 'end game' stuff. and turning common limited resorces like iron into a renewable resource.
I hope that isn't coming off to harsh, but really when I think of 'magical crops' I'm not thinking corn and cucumbers and tomatos and grapes. It could all be tied together instead of 'heres food' and 'heres magic seeds that let you make things'.
I understand where you are coming from, if you are using the BETA build and you really dislike normal crops, turn them off, there is a config option to turn them all off, that includes them dropping from tall grass.
Normal crops are very popular the moment I took them out I had many requests to re add them. So I did BUT like I said above added a config file for people that don't like them.
Obviously both sides of the mod aren't for everyone, I have been working hard on added different food types in the next build, Stews, juices, Infused Bread a few more meat drops from Sheep and Squid and more food which can be made from the normal food, also will be adding much more.
Give it a chance when the new food comes out, if you still don't like it that is fine, disable it and use the Magical side of things, I don't have plans to make the food more magical, though I am adding SOME magical food e.g. the essence bread.

If i change the ID number in your config file of the one causing problems, it doesn't change in the game.
It is one of the standard seeds, Most of the other seeds & blocks will change when you edit the config file & restart the game. but not those in the standard seeds
If you have a recent log handy, there are a number of info warning messages nestled into both the built in compatibility and the separate mod that might give you some hints.
