It seems that not all mods use the same technique to set the display name of their custom items and blocks.
I hope have found a solution that will work with any variant.
This fix is included into the new release 2.3.1 which is available now.
Thank you for your feedback!
I haven't tried the new fix yet but if you could apply this patch with 2.2.0 since this bug is also present w/ 1.5.2. I believe somewhere along the line most mods no longer give a localized name for the block itself and is generally left with a basic block identification name used for all the subtypes, and ItemStack's hasDisplayName only works if it has a custom name (which doesn't make sense). But I got bored of waiting for a patch and did a custom Java Bytecode Patch that just uses the ItemStack's getDisplayName and isn't as safe as what you did.
Hey MickKay, I made a video spotlighting this mod and listed a few subtle suggestions aswell; I like the mod, and hope to see it grow
Thank you for this great video and your suggestions.
The sound feature is a new suggestion.
Making this mod more balanced has been suggested many times. I'm already working on this idea.

I backported this bugfix from 2.3.1 to Scenter 2.2.1 which is compatiple with Minecraft 1.5.2.
Please check if this works for you and give me some feedback.
Would it be possible to make this some sort of tool?
I found it a bit cheaty to use. I managed to find diamonds that were literally only hidden by one block that i had walked past 100s of times and using an enchanted pickaxe i managed to get a whole stack in like 10 minutes.
I rekcon it should be quite an expensive tool that also requires some form of fuel.
I'm thinking about adding this mod, and have read all the posts here, but couldn't find out if you had implemented it yet and I missed it, or if it hasn't yet been asked... I also use NEI and the default keybind for that mod to show/hide the stuff is also the letter "O"... IS there a way to change the keybind for this? I'm still on 1.5.2 so the bug with 1.6 not saving the keybind doesn't apply to me (yet) though that bug implies that I CAN change the keybind, I'm just not sure where to do it at, since it is not in the config settings you show... I know I already have a few mods installed that have conflicting keybinds that just plain don't show up in the vanilla options dialogue with a way to easily change them, and don't want this to be the same way...

Alright, I'll try to get it updated until weekend.

Have fun!
