Can you make this a servermod, too? As a server owner I really would like to be able to disable the use of this mod, because it makes finding valuables quite too easy in my opinion.
Other than that, cool mod and really useful for environments where it is welcome
Yes, actually I am working on this already. I just need to understand all the netty networking stuff that has been introduced in minecraft 1.7.
I have trying to get this mod working for FTB monster. Cant seem to get syntax right.
it gives me this error in game.

As far as i can tell its refering to the iron line but it looks right to me. Can anyone see a problem with it?
Also i thought a nice feature might be a forced reload of the list of sniffable ores. A hotkey to force it to reload so i dont have to exit minecraft to get a reload after i change Scenter.targets.cfg.
So I would be right in saying the scenter only works in a 3x3 chunk radius? If so is there any way to increase that? some mods add world gen that is fairly rare like silverwood trees in thaumcraft, I realise a larger radius would probably exponentially more intensive on the computer but I think that might be a good feature in the config files.
Scenter 3.1.0 has a configuration option to increase the detection range. Valid values are 1, 3x3, 5x5, 7x7, 9x9, 11x11.
following your directions precily and using nei block dump I could not add certus quartz to the list, get a java id error does not know what certus quartz is. I went like this "QuartzOre 85FFFF" and tried "quartzore 85FFFF". not working what is going on?????

I guess I did not explain properly. Ok I am trying to add certus quartz from AE. I am running minecraft 1.7.2.
using Nei block dump as my guide I tried "OreQuartz, OreQuartzCharged FFD24D" does not work even if I put everything in lower case. Why???

I never used Applied Energistics nor NEI.
If Nei block dump doesn't give you the correct block names, just fall back to the following instructions (which are taken from the "How to configure Scenter 3.x" section):
Run Minecraft with Scenter installed
Enter a world
Activate Scenter (by pressing 'O')
Quit Minecraft
Open your .minecraft/logs folder
Open file fml-client-latest.log
Search for the line containing "[mickkay.scenter.ScenterMod/Scenter]: These blocks are registered:"
Below that line you'll find a list of all registered blocks.
Find the line with your block (e.g. "examplemod:MyNewBlock") and copy the whole line into the Scenter3.targets.cfg
If that doesn't work please post the complete block list that Scenter dumped into your log file.
Now I like the idea of this mod, but it still feels cheatsy. A good idea to get rid of that feeling is make it item based, while still having it like it is now. Making an item that can detect only one type of ore. and will put up the trail when your holding it. How ever if I wanted to build one to detect iron, I would need some iron in the crafting process. Gotta find it in order to find more type of thing. But just because I crafted one to find iron, does not mean it will also find redstone, or diamonds.
Hello, I was wondering if I may use this mod in a modpack that I am making, it does not have a theme, and its name is MFM which stands for My
First
Modpack.
I just really like the mods that I use and thought that other people should be able to enjoy these mods together as I do, so if you could let me use this mod, I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you.

Great review - Thanks!
Thank you also!
Thanks a lot!
Without error log and any info about your minecraft version, forge version, scenter version nobody can help you.
Same here.
Btw., the name of the Quartz Ore is "quartz_ore".
using Nei block dump as my guide I tried "OreQuartz, OreQuartzCharged FFD24D" does not work even if I put everything in lower case. Why???

If you have a wolf and right-click it with one of the gems, it could smell if from far away and bark when its near the ore.
