yeah i almost requested that that one come back, then i remembered the water strainers were basically turning vanilla BC bugs into features in a way.
i'd still use them honestly for sure, i guess there's just not much of a need for it now that BC oil stays separate from water better.

i keep making the same mistake, i think "oh, i've given them a few months, surely it'll be fixed by now" THAT is why i seem to ALWAYS be angry to some of you, my advice is to get the lead out.
there were nice things here, until the mod author threw a tantrum.
So today I went to make the fertilizer module and found out a nasty thing with the regulators, If you have two close to each other they bounce back the fuel/fertilizer back to each other, and never send it back, causing a major issue for my half module I was working on, I'm sure I could fix that by changing the regulators to managers, but they require bluetricity, and I'm trying to avoid it. I also want some magical block that generates eu from pure water, without the need to put it in buckets.(hint hint) Until then I'm making a blutric water mill bucket thingy.
You will need to break and re-place any IC2/UE producers and consumers affected by chunk loaders after upgrading which I will reiterate in the OP at the time, due to the fix for that bug everybody's been posting.
Chunkloader or no chunkloader you will need to replace them. Sorry, thought I told you.
I hope the water strainer can do actual hydropower, though. That's one thing I wish the various Forge mods had - an actual hydroelectric power system, versus having to manually fill a generator with buckets.
You can use the aqueous accumulator or a *shudder* BC pump to fill them.
Lack of hydroelectric is probably due to a complete lack of water physics. I'd love to have an actual water wheel or a dam. Pumping water into a block isn't the most interesting power system.
Yeah, that would be awesome. You got experience with fluid mechanics, you should make this

Edit: Woot 100th post.
You slipped in while I was posting. I'm avoiding that by only providing fert on demand (and generally only to 1 at a time...although the supplier pipes could handle distribution). Granted you can abuse the hell out of IC2 and make infinite fert out of scrap in an autocrafting table once you make your first batch (and I'm sure you knew that).
What about using a sorter to tag fert different colors for each Fertilizer machine? Kind of a waste of a sorter but it should work.
I'm looking forward to the oil fabricator again, though the Magma Crucible pretty much covers lava fabrication.

I no longer really like the idea of pumped water power, since it's infinite and free. I might be able to be convinced otherwise, but as it stands the replacement will be a general-purpose liquid router, so you can filter any liquid from each other. I still get water in my oil rigs and it sucks.

Yeah I liked the ability of the water strainer to do that, but it's a little op, however I found a new/better way to put water in a ic2 watermill, just requires glass. (Water bottles)

Yeah I think it would be a waste of a sorter, and it would require bluetricity, but it's either that or a manager.(manager is the way I choose.) Also I redesigned the modular farm, I'm gonna go delete all of the old one and do up the new design.(It's 8x6x3 now, and there's no more copper cables. (yep it's even cheaper now.)
Yeah that fertilizer module is causing more problems than I know if it's worth it, because I switched all the power gen to watermills, but they don't produce enough eu to keep it running quickly, so I switched back to a generator, and that doesn't seem to produce enough eu to keep the crazy thing going fast, I think the only way to get top speed on the thing, while still being small would be to use a compact solar, so I guess my fertilizer module will be a little slow. (However the current main module seems to be holding it's own quite well, Although it only runs crops like potatoes and wheat at the moment, haven't tested a tree.)
yeah that's the biggest problem with IC2 since they killed reactors, it's near impossible to get enough power from IC2 without compact solars.

which conveyor setup are you talking about? the mfr-only (and a railcraft hobby steam engine) eternal carrot machine?
Powercrystals- I am working on a johnsmith addon for both steamworks and MFR. if I show it to you first, can I get official sanction?
and BTW, I proudly DITCHED thermal expansion. Now my 'running clean' pack is down to pam's stuff, MFR for automatics, and railcraft for the rest (I had no idea that railcraft had such good water control).
It's a good, clean challenge getting everything running and building a palace, besides, with no technology holes in any autofarming areas, a great set of end goal possibilities, etc.
Frankly, the sets work together so thematically that you almost want to build an entire texture/mod/server pack combo specifically based around the 'steampunk' feel of the things, tying them together with bolts.
(BTW, the reason I try to keep things so clean is that I need 'end goals'.Minecraft comes alive provides them, Humans++ used to provide them, Ancient warfare supplies them, millenaires supplies them, even collecting emeralds provides them. Anyone know any other good 'goal oriented' mods, other than surviving creepers, out there?)

confine yourself to using only railcraft steam boilers. Getting a water tower/ tank car/ steam boiler network running efficiently is a real challenge, as is running the whole thing on nothing but creosote oil. TE is a good add-on for steam pipes, as long as you are careful not to use any of it's machines other than the manufacturing ones (to make the parts for the pipes).
kinda wish there were a way to disable stuff selectively, or find a mod that ONLY ran short-range water-steam pipes.
hmm... an add-on that gives you nothing but pipes, capable of carrying water or steam, but only for the same distance as unboosted redstone... that is independent of redpower or buildcraft. hehe.
edit-ugh, did I misunderstand your last post or what?

Yeah, sure. However be aware that 2.1 will change the texture format a bit as I ran way over the 256 per sheet limit so it has three terrain sheets now. You can see the new form in the github. No ETA on that release yet, though. Ignore the individual pngs (until 1.5) - only the sheets are distributed.

That's one way to do it yeah, but I can't exactly set a thing to only work if you choosenot to use any other way of getting water
Something to think about, I have no idea how feasible it is, but a way to put dye in the rancher and have it dye the sheep? One thing I've ran into is if you decide you want to recolor your sheep you need to shut the rancher down and wait for them to regrow so you can dye them. It's a PITA.
Not sure if it's still cool to like them, but all the cool kids think solars are OP, so I guess they're not so bad.
I don't think solars are OP so much as everything else is wildly UP, so solars become boring as they're the only thing worth using. Also wind is laggy as hell.

Yes. And not likely without me changing the rancher code. Also I'd need a way to decide which sheep are 'already' dyed, I guess just anything non-white?
And next, meet the Ejector:
For all your getting-stuff-onto-conveyors needs.

Yeah, wind is actually way more powerful than IC2 (vanilla) solars but the lag is awful. Green energy is so hard to balance in MC because it is either OP or it has to be made so expensive to make or such a PITA to use that it isn't worthwhile.
Well I was thinking any color sheep, white or not. So like you drop 5 lapis in the rancher and it dyes the first 5 sheep it finds. Later I decide I need more red so I drop some red in, etc.
Sweet on the ejector. How are you getting a redstone pulse out of the timer without powering the wire? (or is it just flaky for the vanilla dispenser?)
It's just the vanilla dispenser, which is coded for something bizarre like adjacent block updates every other tick so you need to power adjacent blocks instead of directly? I hate that thing. Anyway this one behaves like you'd actually expect it to.
(also I didn't screenshot on the tick the wire was powered)

I'm using those just MFR, Railcraft, the Voltz pack, and the Project Table mod (adds Rp2-like project tables without the stupid gems and crap RP2 has) and having a ton of fun. Just throwing it out there that you aren't the only one ditching TE, IC2, BC, etc.
The Voltz pack (universal electricty) adds a bunch of goals. It's alot tougher to get started with than you are probably used to, but it's a lot of fun and gives you a lot of reason to build those farms.
PowerConverters 2.1 is out! Fixes that bug that everybody's been telling me about and adds a universal charger. You must break and re-place any IC2 or UE consumers/producers after upgrading. This only needs to be done once. I apologize for any inconvenience.
Also there's a creative tab now if you need power systems in creative mode I guess? I dunno I was asked for it and it was easy.

to be honest though, free and infinite were the main reasons i liked them before

I have no idea what that first one is. The others will be fixed in PC 2.1.

Using the oil fab without BC installed will just do nothing.
(e: well, it'll generate "Oil" if you have some other mod that has an oil)
