Welcome to Mr Denco's Instant Repeaters Mod v2.1. The initial release was the [core] release, and there was a short while where there was [performance] update. But now the update that anyone is waiting for --- Graphics.
Features:
This mod will conduct redstone current instantly. It acts as a regular repeater does, only there is not that pesky 1 tick delay. Many of you may know of comparators, and how they were kind of instant, but had variable delay. This is because there is a portion of code that inhibits instant updating, and I have disabled that.
So in short, this mod is simple. You place the block, like a regular repeater. When powered, it outputs 15 strength redstone in the instant.
Changelog:
-Repeaters now look like regular repeaters
-They can no longer be placed anywhere
-They have 1 torch
-No particle animation, however (Coming soon) -Already place v1.0 repeaters will automatically update, so there is nothing to worry about!
Compatibility With Minecraft:
This Mod is currently v2.1, for Minecraft v1.4.7 (1.4.x Compatibility Pending). Any version below is untested, however it may work with older versions.
Compatibility with SPC:
It will stack, copy, and paste, however the block will not rotate when rotating in SPC.
MC Edit:
Tested fine with MC edit, still does not rotate. It did rotate for my friend however, so it is worth a shot.
Explanation: It will conduct redstone instantly. There is no tick delay---completely instant. The minecraft WorldServer.class boolean that prevents instant updates is disabled during the update of this block.
Future:
You will be rather safe with placing these in your redstone contraptions. The block ID will not change unless there are conflicts. Future updates will include updates to the stability. However, it is in its idealized form.
The only graphical issue is now with the block in the inventory. It just looks wrong, but that will hopefully be fixed.
Nice.. although I'll probably never use it. (If it's redstone, I'm strictly vanilla.)
Thanks, and yeah, I assume that some people will not use it because they are purists. I just hope that some people will like it, since it may be able to help make redstone stuff so much faster...plus it took a lot of hair splitting deciphering of the code.
Nothing like having var1 -var15 and par1- par 8... lol
It is not forge dependent, but it should not cause conflicts. if you haven't tried it all ready, do back up your bin!! Also if possible please inform me if it works.
I mean, there is not much code that is I guess... radicle...I mean nothing that would be very viable to conflict!

I always wanted to argue with a brick wall, I suppose the internet is the second best option.
This Is An Awesome Mod.
This Improved The Proformance Of My Lava Bridge! It Has Now Killed 20+ Creepers Much More Effectively.
Now I Dont Need To Wait For Half The Bridge To Submerge Before My Intruders Are Killed.
And My Bottomless Walkway Runs Like A Dream!
Can't Wait For Proper Texture Mapping! (Even Though It Doesnt Matter To Me... All My Redstone Is Either Burried Or Hiding In A Wall)

I will probably work on it this weekend, perhaps I can figure out what is actually going on!

Bugs (Currently fixed, however not fixed the way I want)
I have no clue what to do with the graphics. I want it too look like a regular repeater, only without the torches. That is where you could can come in. If you know Java, the please consider helping. When I try to set it's render type to 15, it crashes with a lot of render errors. I do not understand. Thanks.
This is a Class Cast Exception.
The game is trying to cast the new class to "BlockRedstoneRepeater.class"
Your class extends "Block.class" which has no backwards affiliation with "BlockRedstoneRepeater.class"
The game casts the block being rendered to "BlockRedstoneRepeater.class", which your block currently doesn't have anything to do with.
If you just copy/pasted the "BlockRedstoneRepeater" class to make yours, just make it extend "BlockRedstoneRepeater" rather than "Block".
This should fix the error when rendering the block on render type 15.
If you didn't copy/paste, then you'll have to copy, paste, and fix the render code used to draw repeaters into your mod file, and the "renderWorldBlock" method from BaseMod.

Okay... I am kind of following you.
I did in fact copy the original repeater and mod it from there. However the BlockRedstoneRepeaterIns (The block class) needs to extend Block Directional, and the mod_xyz needs to extend BaseMod

Hello, I know basic Java and I wish to help you.
I'm not good with textures, however I have created unreleased mods before, and will be happy to help you add more to this.
I suggest things like instant torches (if possible) However I do not know everything that is possible to add, since I never had a look at redstone blocks and items in the code before, but I will be happy to help.
I have the nesseccary tools, which are:
MCP Latest version
Java (7 I think)
Eclipse Juno
Experience
So please PM me!
Btw, I will use this mod, and I like it, but not for my projects because:
1. I don't like being dependent on mods, even ones I help/do develop
2. I don't want to have people having to download a mod to be able to download my maps.
I will be happy to seek your assistence!! I am so glad that you like the mod, and I completely understand your reasons for not using it for projects!
I actually created this because I didn't like being dependent on djoslin.

Hey MrDenco, I have been looking at this and I'm not sure whether I'll use it or not. Looks really cool though I kind of agree that repeaters should be able to be instant (as you proposed in another topic before making this mod).

PS:
Y U CHANGE PICTURE?? D:
I use it off and on personally. I like being able to put Instant Repeaters in certain parts of the computer or rs machine.
Oh and I wanted a change is all. My next picture will be a tennant one, don't you worry.
I think I'm going to spread the word of this around Great mod. Although the old repeaters will still need to be used for timing purposes of course But no more losing ticks. However does this cause lag whilst the redstone turns on and off?

Yay! Sorry that it doesn't look the part... I am actively working on that!
It is actually stable (function wise) but the graphics are not sorted out.
