This looks like a great mod, and once some more of the planned features are added, I will probably download it. However, there is one feature I've always desired that I notice you haven't listed as planned: snow falling through tree leaves and piling up underneath trees. Is it possible you could consider adding this behavior as well?
That is an interesting idea. I would have to look at how snow placement is actually calculated, but it should be doable.

You might need to determine if the leaves (could do iron bars to if made into a ceiling) are inside or outside (covered by solid blocks). Then you could reduce placement by a % I got it to work on 1.4.7 with forge looking forward to a 1.5.1 forge version, not a lot of mods are 1.5.2 yet, so please keep a post 1.5.1 forge version when it's ready, even if it's not always the latest additions I'll be happy.

I think it will be easier to update to 1.5.2 then it was to update to 1.5.1. It will also give me a chance to test if moving code out of the World class will help compatibility with forge.
No forge version? What mods are you playing with? BTW or ML singleplayer?
I wanted to use this with seasons mod on my server, but it seems not gonna happen... Anyway the idea of stacking snow covers is nice, however now its possible in vanilla since 1.5(the only thing its not generating naturally)

Currently I do not have a server version of better snow because it would confuse the clients, but if the clients had bettersnow it would work. I am actually considering writing a server version, but considering how log it takes to update the client version... About it not generating naturally in vanilla, ironically mojang said they did not do that because it would not work, and while they were saying that I had already released this mod.

That's what I thought. But I couldn't figure out how to get a copy of the forge server sources, unless it is the same download as the client. If you know how, please tell me!

But what about jar mods? Better Snow forge is technically not a forge mod, and forge does not recognize it.
Well, forge modloader pretty much similar to the risugami's modloader. However, for jar mods there are two ways: to place them in the jar(thats sad but its the way of some api's) and to place them in coremods folder(its folder for mods which override vanilla classes). I dont know exactly how coremods folder works, but mods that some time ago required placing in the jar now moved to coremods.
I suggest you to go to forge official forum and ask the creators themself about porting your mod.

I will try the coremods folder, if not i will try again to find a non-video forge mod tutorial.
Tell me if it works. If not, I will see what I can do.

It didn't work but I'm ok with that i have 5 other mods that I am not able to add to 1.5.1 yet. I still have to configure what I have now which shouldn't be too hard I still have my configs from 1.4.7. I don't want to harass you about it lol. I would normally use 1.4.7 still, but I need to have this sixtygig texture pack and it's new to 1.5.1 Once 1.5.x is clean of bugs it'll be my baby for a while, I think some big mods are waiting for that, like RP2 which is smart, everyone was amazed at how fast 1.4.7 was updated. She would literally be updating almost 24/7 otherwise and have less time to add/improve it. I'd rather see you include more features instead of updating 1.5.1 just for me in the long run I'll end up getting more out of the mod. Thank you.

Thanks for trying anyway. If you end up updating to 1.5.2 you can try that forge version as a jar/coremods mod. Now that I have gotten BetterSnow fully up to date I have been working on some new features, but I will probably not be able to do much until the weekend.

Yeah I've been trying to tell people that constantly updating MineCraft slows down mod production, hopefully people will understand sooner than later.
Hey, guys. Quote me if you want me to respond. Otherwise I'll have no idea what the hell you want with me.

I was planning to skip it since 1.5.2 has a forge version and bettersnow 1.5.1 was just... Buggy. If you need it I may be able to go back and add a forge 1.5.1.

I believe in you!
Do you think a vanilla server or forge server version would be better?

Forge for sure. Everyone uses it except BTW.

Its universal for client and server now. Mods too

I agree so much! You should post this to the minecraft subreddit!
P.S. I like your signature, but I personally prefer MagicLauncher to MultiMC.
