Unfortunately you can't change it atm. It's just too hard when I start editing the standard minecraft code. If I make a Great Shift 2.0.0, I'll probably change it, but unless there is huge demand for it now, I won't yet. I'll put up a question in the poll about it.
Yeah, I think it would be rather cool to add in some more underground type structures like Net's Stronghold or some secret underground villages.
Hadn't thought about underground stuff yet. The closest structures come to it is with Net's Temple, which extends about 3 blocks below the ground. I'll probably add a couple of underground structures in the update after next. The next one is just 1.4.6 compatibility (which is almost complete), so I should start work on it sometime soon.
Not sure what happened with the black screen, I'll try it again myself. When I tested it I didn't have Optifine, that may be the problem.
As to more gods, 9 more gods are planned and I might possibly add more after that. Each of the normal mobs will have a similar god, so there will be Terrae for the elves, and Net for the demons for instance. Three will come after I release for 1.4.6, not sure about the timing of the others.
EDIT: You mentioned Zeus, Mars and Poseidon. Penna is the Cubeaism god of the sky, like Zeus, Shen is the Cubeaism god of deserts and war, similar to Mars, and Poise is the Cubeaism god of the sea, like Poseidon. All will be added in future releases of the mod.
EDIT 2: I tried redownloading the mod and it worked fine. You might have to try without Optifine.
EDIT 3: You are putting it in the Minecraft.jar not the mods folder aren't you?
Yes, I'm putting it in the minecraft.jar folder, with minecraft forge and deleting meta-inf (I know how to install mods) And it still gives me a black screen. I think the copy of my bin I have, has opti-fine already in it. Boo When do you plan on updating it? Because that seems like the only way I can test it/use it/see if the black screen goes away. Not to rush you or anything. But btw the mod is epic, can't wait for the update :D!
What's the boss fight for Net like? Does he have any special abilities?
Net's still a WIP, but at the moment he fires one projectile per second. The projectile has a 1 in 16 chance of being a new projectile I made that spawns a demon, otherwise it's a simple good old ghast fireball.
at the time of my posting, the dropbox download was refusing connections on multiple browsers. and it's always good to have a second download link ready in case it goes down in the future
also, on another note, forge/modloader (forge is preferable at this point) compatibility would be a HUGE plus!

It was made with Forge, and you need it to run the mod. Yes, it overwrites files that forge also overwrites (I think), but my files have the changes that Forge makes in them, hence they can both run together.

I like difficulty myself, so making the other realms more dangerous or whatever always appeals to me..Make some scary suchforth like dragons (semi-boss style, not enderdragon style) would be very appealing to me

Upon clicking "download" on dropbox, it would try to redirect me to dl.dropbox and then drop the connection, which mean I couldn't download it at the time of my original posting, and wasn't able to for another 4-5 hours.

Top these with obsidian, and then right-click with a nether star in the center of the structure.
Net will spawn and your nether star will be gone, but the rest of the structure will still be there.
